Why do they leave the hatches open?
They worry more about living than how they leave equipment behind!
There's a theory that if they keep the hatches closed, and it is noticed by them afterwards, they would be sent out on a recovery mission to haul the vehicles back. Also, the fewer tanks there are in supply, the less they would be sent out on rotation either as a driver or a passenger. A tank with an open hatch also distracts active drones who would then be occupied in further disabling or destroying it, every drone dedicated to an opened-hatch tank means less drones hunting for you (the driver or passenger) who had just escaped it.
As the previous poster said, battening down a hatch after leaving may take precious 2-4 seconds that could cost you your life if a drone, grenade or artillery shell is on its way - all of these reasons make perfect sense to leave hatches open.
Most Russian tracked vehicles lack sufficient ventilation either from not having it or the vent system died long ago. Not to mention Russian MBT's lack bore evacuation, so all those gun fumes end up inside the tank.

Not very. Most of the airborne was destroyed in the first day when they attacked Hostomel airport. They didn't have many elite troops after that.

This isn't even a "suicide attack". Even a suicide attack can have a plan! This lot seems totally disorganised, haphazard and without clear goals. What are those open hatches about, anyway? Why are they left like that, unless they just ran away in a blind panic and didn't have the time to close them. It certainly doesn't look like the tank crews had any inclination to commit suicide! They just wanted to get out and away!
I think a lot of these soldiers are only there because they were forced (conscripted). While they might believe all Putin's propaganda before arriving, very soon they will find out that: 1. There are no Ukrainian NAZIS. 2. There are no NATO forces there. 3. There is no genocide, persecution or attack by the Ukrainian govt. upon Russian speaking Ukrainians. 4. Ukrainians are not out to destroy Russia and just want to be left alone. 5. Russian soldiers are dying for nothing. Occupying Ukraine will bring no obvious benefit to Russia.
