Your videos remind me that the journey is as much if not more important than the destination. I have wasted so many years getting things completed I rarely took joy in actually doing things. I watch these artisans as they create and I get more pleasure in the simple, methodical actions of creating as much if not more than the final creation.
    As always Thank you.

That was the most peaceful 15:58 mins I have watched for a very long time. Imagine coming out of one of those rooms in the morning sitting down and letting the world go by.

Honenin is such a beautiful place; it was one of my favorite gardens I visited during my last trip! There are so many interesting features, including the sand mounds, the thatched gate, and now, this charcoal river! When I visited Honenin in 2018, it was the same time of year, when the Camellia were in bloom. I love how they place the Camellia leaves and flowers in the water features! This garden looks so amazing through your lens! Great work!

I too think it's an amazing and beautiful temple😊.
And this time the garden is also very quiet and beautiful✨

Wow, hearing him explain that the carbon cycle was the inspiration for the river… to then see each end of the river have beautiful plantings, I can only assume they may represent the birth and then death of a life. Each can be beautiful in their own way.

It is such a privilege to see Mr. Keane at work on his garden. As someone who has read both of his books, (The Art of Setting Stones, and On Arcs and Circles) I can say that I have grown to love and appreciate the work of Marc Peter Keane to a level beyond that of any other. To see this artist and poet at work on his own creation is inspirational. Thank you for producing this video.

Thank you for this video. I love Marc Peter Keane and have several of his books. I love the way he explained the Buddhist concept of emptiness in his design of this garden. I hope there will be more of the symbolism explained in the design of future gardens. 🙏🙏

Nice to see a rock garden with trees on the gravel ground. The courtyard is so nice. So no need to cut down trees to create a Japanese courtyard. Great.

  • @RetreatfarmFarmvilleVirginia

It would be wonderful if the charcoal could be burned with a small amount of Paraffin wax and sterno fuel to have a low key burn at night. It would be for special occasions obviously but would still be a special effect.

Love the detail and explanation of the design concept. Are there any books that explain the specific handrail design seem duplicated around 1000’s of temples, shrines, bridges etc, as they tend to be identical.👏

This is so exciting - I have read books by Marc Peter Keane which I absolutely enjoyed reading. They are so informative yet also entertaining, really special. It is a great pleasure to see his work and explanations in your video, thank you very much for this!
Credits also to your choice of music which perfectly mirrors the peaceful atmosphere of this garden! 🤗
I have one technical question: is the layer underneath the actual charcoal logs also (finer) charcoal? And if so - why is that - instead of using (darker) gravel, too? Sorry if I am missing the obvious here, I am just an amateur... 🙄
