This seems to have been one of the most challenging jobs in this series because of difficult access! And the rock wall with the various plants tucked in the crevices is exquisite!

      Yes, it is!
That may have been the hardest site I've ever been on!
I' m glad we were able to finish the construction successfully, and create a lovely Japanese garden!

Tataki, same for earthened floors compacted and compressed layers; local sanwa earth, lime and bittern (magnesium chloride, calcium chloride, salts). Instead of modern fast-curing concrete or mortar, tataki takes skilled formulation, labor intensive pounding and has a long curing time, but great continuation of traditional techniques. Thank you and niwashi Shuji Nakasa for the beautiful traditional garden artistry!

    Beautiful work. Magical.
Imagine a maiden with snow white skin in a pure white kimono sitting in the center with shoulders and knees slightly exposed, hair partially loose and letting the water run over her feet while playing a shakuhachi. A light breeze of sakura petals flowing would be nice but maybe too much.
