I watched this for the second time, start to finish. This should be required viewing, like changing a tire on a car. A perfect example of solid videography and valuable content. You are a born teacher. Thanks.
I watched the whole tutorial and I don’t even have a Brompton. :)
Now THAT'S funny 🤣🤣🤣
Me too! 🤣 but I do want to own one Brompton

Me too😊.. Saving for my Brompton

Hi. I have to compliment you on this video. Not only have you given a thorough explanation on how to fix a flat but your explanation on how to adjust the internal gear is the best explanation I have seen. Really enjoy your videos. Always look forward to them.
Thank you Nicolas! I appreciate your comment, and I'm glad you're enjoying the videos!
It's all about the hub, Bub. Good camera work
Good story teller, and a vid that speaks to the kind of person who NEEDS the vid. Just good story telling.
Great seat sock tip for every one. You can always learn something.Details: you are not glueing, you're vulcanizing the patch, you need to check the whole tire AND the spoke nipples for the cause. Safe spot for parts is an overlooked trick.
Rim is deeper opposite the valve and helps with tight tires, so starting at valve stem not always good idea. Also brake often bind newly inflated tire and needs to be moved out of the way by cable or shoe
@@EverydayCycling Yes, thanks for me as well. Excellent video. Incredible detail. Appreciate it.
Great tip on the directional arrow, for locating the point of the puncture on the tyre.
Glad it was helpful! This technique helped me in the past to find some very small pieces of wire that were sticking out of the tire and puncturing my inner tube.
Wow … that back wheel is more complicated than I thought. I actually have a slow leak in my first tire. I never rode my ride with a slow leak but it actually worked okay. I just needed to fill the tire before I ride. The bike mechanic I know feel the inside of the tire all around for what caused the flat not just the area of the hole puncture area. You are so amazing. Thanks a lot. I will be watching more of your videos.
Perfectly explained. The two nuts on the rear axle can stay on and still remove the wheel so you don't loose it other wise well done my friend.
Great point! Thanks for bringing it up!
Victor, I got my first own repair on the rear wheel today... you saved me. Thanks a lot for your clear and careful explanation... your channel is the best around.
Hi Victor, thanks so much for posting. I purchased a spare inner tube the other day and the lady in the shop said it will probably be the rear one that has a puncture as that is the hardest to fix. Your video has reassured me that I’ll know what to do if that moment ever comes.
All your videos have been so informative. I have had my Brompton for just 4 weeks at the time of writing and I’m absolutely loving it.
I'm thinking of getting one! I have a regular bike and an electric one but the portability of the Brompton is just so appealing. What's got you loving yours?
Thank you! Have you done a video on chain cleaning/lubrication? For us new folk these basic maintenance videos are fantastic !
All cyclists need to learn how to fix a puncture tire. You never know you will need it. Thanks for the informative and practical video.
Very true!
Hi. Great video very clear, one tip you may want to consider is pumping up the tyre just after you have put the wheel in the frame, just to make sure everything is ok and you don't have a leak. I have learnt this the hard way on my motorcycle.
Yep, that's a gold tip! If the air leaks out you don't have to disassemble everything back again. Thanks for pointing that out!
Whilst there is nothing AT ALL wrong with this well made video instructional...
...(I really mean that)...
...you can save a LOT of time by NOT removing the wheel for a simple puncture.
You are absolutely right! I could have pointed that out in the video but really didn't remember. However, I feel like removing the whole wheel and reassembling it, even with the gear adjustment and all, only adds about 5 minutes or less to the whole process, now that I'm completely familiar with it. And removing the inner tube while the wheel is stuck in the frame, rotating it to look for the puncture and refitting the inner tube inside can be a pain, no? Do you usually do it that way?
@@EverydayCycling In truth, I have had only two (2) rear wheel punctures in 3 years of Brompton biking... which I cannot complain of.
For the first I took off the wheel using instruction manual to get 6 speed gears correctly adjusted afterwards. I did it that way so that I had some practice in rear wheel removal, and could approach it with confidence in future.
For puncture number two I decided to try leaving wheel on, to similarly build confidence in performing the alternative technique. It was a lot quicker.. and done right there by the roadside. I got lucky, though, and found the hole in the tube without any trouble.
One of the most PRACTICAL Brompton videos I have seen. Thanks for doing it with aplomb and patience. You're a good teacher! Thanks.
Clear, detailed, and overall excellent job of explaining the process. Thank you.
This information is exactly what I wanted to hear. Your explanation helped me change my tires. The success in this maintenance of my Brompton gave me a lot of positive emotions. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you, thank you, thank you 👍 I've never in my life fixed a puncture 🙄 I've owned my brompton for about a year now and have been dreading a puncture , this has given me a bit more confidence when it happens , and I agree about it being liberating to fix your own bike👍🚴♀️ could you possibly do a video on what every tool in the tool kit is for , for the different parts of the bike please .
Thanks again for a brilliant indepth video👌
The rain just appeared so that it was "real" flat tire experience. Great instruction video!
Indeed, there's nothing like fixing a flat under the rain... haha
Those Park Tools quick patches are fine when you're out on the road and will last for a while, but if you get another puncture or deflate the tyre they tend to buckle, crease and debond. After a while they get quite crispy. A better solution is to carry a spare innertube, change that on the road and then repair the punctured tube at home with a proper rubber bike patch with rubber glue. I tend to only use the quick patches if I am unlucky enough to get two punctures on one ride. Taking off the Brompton rear wheel is definitely more of a chore than a quick release road bike wheel, but I guess you can always fold it away and take public transport if you can't be bothered to fix it on the road. :)
Have you ever used tube sealant for bike punctures ? I’m not sure it’s useful or not .

I also just put the new (or previously patched) tube in and repair the leaky one later. Actually I keep several tubes and do batch repairs when I do them at home. But I do carry a real rubber glue patch kit on the road. Don't forget to check the location of the leak so you can be sure nothing is in the tire to cause a new puncture at the same location as the first one. Don't ask why I remind you of this but don't forget!
Way back when many auto tires had tubes a tire mechanic taught me the trick of applying the glue to the tube and instead of waiting for it to dry, just light it with a match or lighter, blow it out, light it again until it won't light. Glue is dry and you don't have to guess. Be careful not to let it burn long enough to damage the tube, though. A few seconds at a time is all it takes, usually only two or three burns.
Hello again from the north of England. Not being particularly mechanically minded, your video has given me more confidence to attempt a puncture repair myself. Keep up the good work Victor - your channel is much appreciated. Kind regards, Richard.
You can do it! Your audience is very appreciated as well Richard. Thanks again!
Thank you! I just used this to fix the flat tire on my Brompton Electric after I was totally dreading it.
Thank you so much! Brompton should hire you as their brand ambassador!
I’m about to change my marathon racer tyre for a marathon plus and this is the best and most informative video I’ve found, thank you for a very thorough and easy to follow video
Great idea using a strap to keep the tyre from popping out, I think I will be using this idea next time! Great videos overall, I still remember when I got my first Brompton in 2007-8 and had my first puncture, some guy made a similar video on CZcams and that was incredibly helpful. Yours will now help many new Brompton owners deal with the rear flat! Carry on!
Another great video. I thought it was more difficult to remove the rear wheel. I will use from now on the sock to protect my saddle and the strap to help put the tire back to the rim. Thanks for sharing your tips.
Thank you Sérgio!!
I don’t usually comment on videos but you are a diamond. Thank you
Really good video! My dad taught me a really cool trick for looking for punctures when you’re on the road and don’t have access to water. Instead of feeling for air escaping with your hands, use your nose! Your nose is much more sensitive to the feel of escaping air, so just run the inner tube around under your nostrils just to be sure and you may find additional punctures you never knew you had (although hopefully not)! - may your Schwalbes always be puncture proof
Wow great tip! Thanks to you and your dad from me!!
Thank you for this video!!! On my journey with my Brompton I needed it! Without this video I might be helpless. Thanks!
best channel on brompton by far. sad it's no longer updated
I've just discovered your videos and I have to say, perhaps the best Brompton vids on the net!
fantastic video! clear instructions, closeups, simple explanations. Very well done!
Once you have the bike upside down, if you fold the rear wheel up slightly (say 90 degrees), it's easier to take the chain tensioner off the chain. Also makes it easier to put it back on the chain too.
I review this whenever I need to remove rear wheel. I had to recently when the bungee cord on my rack snapped and got wrapped around my sprocket.
The gear setting / adjustment was easier than I thought. The only problem was removing all the "stuff" because of flipping it over to provide a stable platform. This included a "ring-a-ding" bell on the top of handle bar and making sure not to damage my bar end mirror and then there was the issue of removing my kick stand assembly that was affixed to the rear axle...it all had to come undone prior to removing the cord.
Your instructions really helped...Thank you!
One of the best tutorials on the rear Brompton rear removal, thanks a lot!
very detailed guide! thanks so much. extremely helpful
Recent Brompton owner, and very longstanding road biker used to changing tubes on 700c tires. I can usually swap out a tube on front or rear tires on those bikes in just a few minutes with a tire lever and nothing else. This is a bit daunting looking and I obviously need to practice a few times at home before I'll feel confident doing this on the road. I guess I also need to stop procrastinating and buy that Brompton toolkit. Thanks for this very helpful video. BTW, I've worked in a bike shop and, while I do occasionally use a lever to put a tire back on the rim, I've been told lots of time not to do that due to danger of pinching the tube and creating another leak.
Excellent, easy-to-follow instructions! Thank you!
Perfect. Thank you for posting.
Great video. Just wondering incase I missed it. Any reason why you decided to take the whole back wheel off? Always been taught to remove the tyre with the tyre levers and fix the puncture but leave the wheel still attached as the inner tube will come out easily without taking the wheel off completely. Only time we remove the back wheel is if we have to replace the inner tube with a new one. Great video, but just interested in that point. Thanks and keep up the great work. Great videos!
Excellent video. Thank you for making this available.
OMG! I have just fixed my bike with the help of your perfect explanation! I have no experience with bike maintenance whatsoever. Could not have done it without this walk-through. Thanks a million!!!
Best instruction I have seen. Thank you
Explained PERFECTLY... Nice job, thank you!
Thank you for this super detailed video!
Thank you. Just got my first rear flat. I'm gonna try n change it! Your video gave me confidence!
Terrific explanations and so so helpful ! Thank you so so much !
Your videos are wonderful, mate. Thanks so much for this. 🙏
Very good editing! Very good content. Next week will go to buy my first brompton. Still a little bit undecided but videos like yours convinced me a lot. I mostly use a 125 cc motorcycle but sometimes it’s stressful with all the traffic. And I want to give it a try with the bike /train combo! Cheers
Oooo it's been 10 months since you posted that!! How is it going?
Thank you so much for making this so clear well done!
I have newly returned to my 2013 H3R. I have really enjoyed your videos and this one was excellent. Thank you.
Brilliant tutorial - thank you.
Dude, this was epic! Really put me at ease about messing with my Brommy. Man love and keep up the great content 🤘🏾
Perfectly paced instructions. By far my favorite Brompton channel.
Thanks for the very detailed instructional video. Helps a lot.
Thanks , for explaining the procedure in a very simple manner.
by far this video is well explained, im getting my brompton soon hopefully. Thanks
Super helpful! I followed and got my Brompton fixed, Thank you!
Excellent tutorial and very informative. Thank you! I'd love to see a video from you on how to properly clean your Brompton. Specifically, how to take everything apart, what tools and cleaning agents to use on which parts and when, putting everything back together, advice on long term maintenance, etc. I think many people would enjoy and benefit from this! Especially since you're so knowledgable and can present well.
Great suggestion! I haven't cleaned my Brompton in a good while, and when I do I go to a community "bike shop" where I can use their tools and everything. Once this crisis is over and the shop re-opens I'll make a video about it.
excellent tutorial, clear and comprehensive. Many thanks
Excellent tutorial video. You explained clearly, at a good pace, accompanied with relevant zoomed in shots. Thank you for putting this together.
Thank you! I found this and watched when I got my Brompton this spring to be sure I understood how it worked and what was in the toolkit. And just now in middle of nowhere on Colorado’s western slope, I got a flat and was able to pull it up again and repair my flat, got right back to enjoying my ride! Thank you!
Amazing tutorial mate!! Thank you
I hope I never have to repair a flat tire outside, but if there's a need to do so, this video will be my go to video. thanks for making this.
Thank you for this. I have now repaired a flat on my Brompton's rear. Okay, repairing an inner tube was something I remember from childhood (apart from the clever idea of marking direction of rotation so that you can find the puncture in the actual tyre), but taking out and replacing the Brompton's rear wheel would not have been something I'd have tackled without this video.
THANKYOU, It will certainly give me a clue where to start
Great tutorial video. IT does give my confidence going forward. Thanks for sharing.
What a fantastic video! Saved for future reference. Thank you so much.
You are great! Thank you for such a clearly presented video on bike repair and helping other enthusiastic Brompton riders like us out of potential problems in the future. I would never have been able to accomplish this procedure without your contribution here.
Wow, Victor I was always worried of having a flat while ridding not anymore. thank you for making it so simple.
So helpful! Thank you.
Picking up my Brompton on Saturday, loading up on all the maintenance videos and solid gold Brompton tips. Thank you! 💰
Love ALL your great videos! They make me feel like a kid in a candy store! Oh, wow ... look at that! So cool! Yum! Can't wait to get one of those! Excellent instructions & upgrades!👍
Outstanding tutorial.. now I get it! I Will take my racing-red Brompton on a campingtrip in the south of Sweden in a fortnight. Cheers everyone 👍❤️
Excellent attention to detail
Yeah, it’s a beautiful day! Thanks for showing it. It will be helpfull some days.
Thank you! I'm glad you watched all the way to the end.
Brilliant, thank you! Just picked up my first Brompton yesterday and preparing in advance for the eventual maintenance that will occur. Gearing adjustment … the added plus!
Fully comprehensive, waffle-free, superb guide. I've only recently discovered your channel, but am a huge fan already. Thank you for all your effort and keep up the good work.
Perfectly described, well done sir.
Great video.
Very nicely done, thank you!
Best guide on changing Brompton tyre I have seen so far.
Perfectly explained and narrated. It felt like the calm Mr Rogers of the Brompton world. Love this channel.
Many Thanks! Great Video!
Thank for you this excellent video. It helped me change my tire for the first time!
Excellent. Just bought a Brompton and needed to be ready.

Excellent tutorial
Thank you so much! Worked like a charm and saved me.
Great video pal. Thanks
Me too. I watched the entire vdo and I don't even have a bike. I am confident I can fix a punctured tire on Brampton after watching this video. Makes me want to buy a Brampton
This is THE clearest demonstration of this process that I've found; thanks so much!
wow, lifesaver. Thank you!
Good pace, easy to follow along and understand. Just got my Brompton and need to practice removing my wheels and replacing tubes. Thanks!
Thanks! This video helped me a lot!
Top notch video!! Thanks a lot, really great👏👏👏
I just replaced my tires and this has been immensely helpful. Thank you.
super helpful video, very clear, no unnecessary commentary/junk and get to the point easily. I followed this video to change both my tyres and scared enough how to adjust the internal gear afterwards, apparently it’s very easy after following this video while doing the setup, many thanks!!
Very detailed and very well served to us that watching this video, i was not bored not even for one second. Thanks and stay safe bro
Thanks, Victor for your tutorial clip on fixing the puncture on the rear wheel.
Any time!
THANK YOU for the explanation on the gears - every other video just says 'and reset your gears..." very helpful, thanks
No problem!
...one of the best video ever !
Thank you so much. Worked very well for me.
