    In this video I will be covering what I consider to be the easiest submission and sweep combination. This series is very simple execute and touches on many very important aspects of BJJ. You will learn to use your hips, elevator hook, find where your opponent has no "base" and an easy to do finishing hold.
    Knowing your basics is key so b sure to practice this sequence.

    This is great. I'm white belt and many other fellow white belts do this - posting an elbow on my throat or my chest a lot. I even developed painful chest bruise from it and had to take 2 weeks off. Intuitively I felt it's right for me to push off the elbow to the insight but was missing key details - elevate the hips and the finish/sweep. This is such a valuable video for me. Thank you. I'm replaying it in my mind a lot.

    I love this choke. But it's very hard to pull off on guys that keep good form in the guard, i.e. hands clasped together and elbows on the sides my hips. Great sweep, I never considered the grapevine from the guard.

    Firas what do you do if you are in this same position but have gis and the top guy, instead of pressing his arm against your windpipe, grabs your collar and is going for a crosscollar choke. When he has the first opposite side collar grabbed, his position looks almost identical to this, the exception being his grip. This happened to me several times yesterday in a beginners class and i remembered your words but most of the times the punching his arm to the side wouldnt work because his grip was too strong. Is it just lack of practice/power from my side (or not using legs enough?) or would you go with another move in that situation if you have gis on? Thanks for amazing videos

      Garlic Jeans I don’t play a lot of butterfly guard & im not sure of the name, but if I were to name the move I’d call it the “Single Hook Arm Triangle Choke Butterfly Sweep” as those seem to be the main characteristics.

    Firas, curious why you would choose to use this instead of transitioning to the back. If my opponent has no underhook (as I have cleared this arm) what reasoning do I have to attempt this submission instead of shoot directly to the back?

    Hi Firas thank you very much for the video. You are a champion.
    It seem's to me that before the RNC grip while you are still using the palm to palm grip it will be relatively easy for the person on top to escape there arm. Is this correct? Also is there any way I could pay you to look at my training footage of me?
    Cheers from Australia

    Salaam Firas, I have a question.
    I had an op on my knee to remove some cartilage - now I feel a lot of pain and discomfort when (and ONLY) in closed guard (especially if opponent tries to force out). So my question is: is it possible to be a good mma/bjj fighter without ever using closed guard? Any tips? Thanks

    • @aries6776
      @aries6776 Před 8 lety +9

      +Richard Leonhard The guy on top won't make the basic error of forearm choking, he'll be punching or elbowing you in the face and he'll feel the arm triangle grip coming and posture up. That's why most arm triangles come from top position in MMA.
