Where is this video filmed, Villaroger? We're in Tignes over Christmas with our dog, and will have our van and looking for simple touring routes to test him and us out on. Thanks for the video, loved it.
Dukie looks so happy when with his little jumps when you're skiing down. I'd like to start ski touring/ backcountry skiing and take my dog but she's a herding dog and she nips my ankles at the start of bike rides and jogs sometimes so I'm a bit worried she'll get too excited and do the same with skiing. She's very trainable though so I think starting slow and working up is a good idea.
Nice video, thanks for the info. I am looking at taking my 9 month lab out Nordic skiing off the beaten path this winter and looking forward to watching her have fun.
You are living my dream life! Love the Collie freeloading on your film.. We are booked into Villaroger in Feb and July with our Collie Cassie but honestly I don't trust her around other skiers - not yet at least! She'll try to herd them off the mountain 😂 Love the videos.
@@FreeFloFloss that'd be great though is it will be half term week I assumed you'd be flat out busy. I am trying to set up the London Ski Club in partnership with the BaseCamp Lodge in BSM and the Youth Hostel in Seez providing inclusive ski hols for young Londoners for under £500 so lots of meetings.. Are the Scottish couple still running the ski shop by the funicular station? I think it was called Polar Star but cannot seem to find any contact details now..
I’ve found that, on the ski down, my dog is very excited and wants to run very close beside me. The dog wants to jump onto my legs, and tends to always be downhill and cutting off my ability to turn. So, if I’m traversing across a ski trail from skier right to left, dog is generally staying close with me and positioned right along my downhill ski where I’d aim to initiate a turn to the right to traverse across the other way. That continues until we run out of trail. She is basically always in my way on the way down, having time of her life. Any tips to keep her a safe distance? Apart from pointing sticks/poles at her? Thanks
Hi John thanks for your message... is your dog young? I also taught my dog the command to stay away.. "keep away" so with a treat training them to stay at a distance when walking .... then to go from there...all of this takes time and a lot of attempts ..
If you have any questions pls drop them below ... See dukie dog in my shift bindings review czcams.com/video/3DDCaCwGR6k/video.html

Hi it was in Le planay near villaroger = its been raining low this xmas so I would stay high in Tignes. St Foy has good routes in the trees
I have a Tractive GPS on my boi so I can find him even if he's out of cell range, just in case.

I used to have a terrier nicknamed “Pookie” but her little legs were too short and her paws too small for paddling about in the snow 😄

Are you feeding Dookie before touring or after..??
He has a little snack before and his dinner after 😁
Lovely video! The best. You seemed to acquire an extra dog I notice. Do you take Dukie out in light powder also? Or is it too tiring for him?
That's the farmers dog Sampa. Light powder and small tours I go with him
