Dewey Phillips and Sam Phillips were NOT related. The true story is that the record that Elvis first made was not for his mother's birthday, her birthday was much later than at that time. He basically just wanted to make a record to see how he sounded and hoping to get someone's attention. He came around several times in hopes to be noticed and finally was. Sam is the one who set up the backup musicians for Elvis. He did not know Scotty and Bill before that introduction by Sam.
I believe that the Elvis fan nose so much about this man from his cradle to the grave and all in between it's amazing how faithful a true Elvis fan is I don't believe that it is worship but it's just the man made such an impact on the world tragedy at the end and he left us way too soon but he will never be forgotten even my grandchildren know about Elvis 3 generations later my aunt and uncle lived in Memphis during the time he was living my uncle rode horses with him out to his farm our ranch in Mississippi and he never forgot it said that he was a genuine person what you see is what you get said he rode a big Palomino and my uncle had a sorrow with a blaze face and elvis remarks how beautiful the animal was I guess it took my uncle with him to his grave again he was truly a true American legend icon he puts the meaning in gone but not forgotten

He had the biggest swimming pool in Memphis built in the back yard. The pool house had beds where his friends could sleep! One of music buddies bought the house years later and it was back to like Elvis had it. During a remodel the house caught fire.

✨I believe that last photo of he, Gladys and Vernon was the return concert for Tupelo, after HoundDog & That’s Alright Mama skyrocketed- The mayor of Tupelo handed Elvis the key to the city at this concert and the dark velveteen shirt he’s wearing was out of Lansky Brothers clothiers on Beale St. . .he did wear that same shirt on one television appearance, whether it was Ed Sullivan or Steve Allen back in the ‘50’s- The family was forced to leave Lauderdale Courts because Gladys’s income rose by a few dollars beyond the maximum allowance, that was terrible since they were still at the national poverty level in income, so there were a handful of addresses in between Lauderdale and eventually the purchase of Audubon where they had lived, most of them being depressed housing or small quarters. Dewey Phillips was not related to Sam, but Dewey created an overnight sensation by playing EP’s hit single which drove the local teens to call in to his Memphis station requesting more air time for That’s Alright Mama . I lived on Park Av in walking distance. Id normally ride my 8 mo old son in his baby seat on my bike. At that the fence was around the property with black music notes all over it. Much like the music notes on the gates of Graceland. That was prior to 1987 before we moved to a neighboring county.. It was a nice home a d area. Im not sure who took all the music notes, they should've left them. It. It was like adding Elvis signature touch to the home.
Unfortunately, his swimming pool has been filled in with dirt by the recent owners......... Why people do the things they do is just unbelievable! I agree, this house should be an attraction and opened to tourist. One would think that Graceland would invest in this house, and cross promoted it, along with Liberty and as a package deal. I'm willing to bet had they done so, Libertyland would still be here and the Zipping Pippin would still be here as well. But instead, the Zipping Pippin is being enjoyed somewhere else, probably by non fans of Elvis........SAD!
A pool is not cheap to maintain, lots of people like a house but wont use a pool. I have one and wish I didn't. In the Texas heat it costs a lot of money to keep up for the very little use it gets.

it was and found out last year she never heard it. they didn't have a record player. one of his friends had the disc for a long time
