In Storm the Sorrow, Simone expelled all the dark liquid with her blinding light. In Rivers, she welcomes the dark liquid as it runs backwards to her hands. She realized that we aren't just made of light. Awesome.

Yeah I remember when Metallica made badass ballads like Fade To Black, Welcome Home (Sanitarium) and One then when Metallica sold out Pantera made even more badass ballads like Cemetery Gates and Floods now the torch has been sent to Epica. True, but on the other hand, radios usually don't know when is enough and they play every song so many times you get fed up with it. So maybe better if they don't.

My Grandma passed away this past year, the day after Thanksgiving, which is a big holiday for us in America. She always made it so special. Days before, I remained at her bedside as much as I could. One morning, I was outside and this song came into my mind. It was on repeat. I thought it was just a way of me coping with reality that day. Later that night, as, I and two other family members were sitting at her bedside, I felt compelled to sing to her, this song. I know, to some the words sounded inappropriate, but, for some reason I kept on, softly, and caressing her loving face. It wasn't till after she was gone, that she was singing Rivers to me, through my body, my voice, urging me to Fight Against the Tide of Life.
There are no words for that ... It's like a real Angel singing ❤️❤️❤️

This song is just a masterpiece to listen to on repeat over and over. I'm getting Tides of Time/Dreamscape/Once Upon a Nightmare vibes with it, and you cant get much better than those 2 songs for ballads.
I think it should be noted that this band literally came off of celebrating the 10th anniversary tour (interrupted midway through thanks to COVID) of their breakthrough album Design Your Universe, to then having all the luxury of time on their hands to get the creative juices going to make album #8 (which so many bands/artists are using the time to do).
This video is amazing! I believe it's my favourite Epica music video (even though it's only a visualizer). And Simone's voice is so crystal clear and beautiful 😻
