I KNOW we said we were on a break, but sometimes news of a #FriendsReunion falls right into your lap and you just gotta go with it...so here's our "Evolution of the FRIENDS Theme Song (I'll Be There For You) Through The Decades," starring our incredible Postmodern Jukebox family and featuring The Rembrandts (the guys that made the theme song) themselves!
Speaking of decades, happy 10th birthday to Postmodern Jukebox & thanks to all our amazing fans for being there for us, too;)
-scottbradleelovesya
P.s. one credit is missing here - the shred guitarist is Prashant Aswani! - Hudba
Somehow, I was expecting a grunge or R&B cover for the 90s. I had completely forgotten doing it like the original was an option. And getting the original artist was amazing!
The addition of punk and gothic rock would be nice.
The twist: there was no twist.
WOW. Thanks for the spoilers!
@@bananacathammock why are you reading the comments before watching the video?
same! I thought 90s will be a grunge cover but then the next thought was wait friends came out in the 90s so it must be the original :D
New life goal: become as happy as tambourine guy
we know the feeling
He is always like that. Very inspiring.
Tambourine guy is always that happy!
It would rock!
@@postmodernjukebox You know you've gotten the official stamp of approval when the artist's themselves join in. Thumbs up from Ohio !!!

Me, around the 1980s: "Wait, wouldn't the 90s version of the Friends theme just be the Friends theme?"
Rembrandts: *take the stage*
Me: "Oh, right."
Yeah, I was like...Hey that's them!
@@SandyAntipas You hear that little guitar ditty that they start with and you get chills because it just sounds right...
Why wouldn't the '80s have been hair metal?
@@txgunguy2766 That's what I was thinking!
@@txgunguy2766 I guess the metal part was the guitar solo... but that freddy mercury was good too.
What a thrill to have your work validated by the original artists.
This video just made history
Hey, I like your channel :)
the 20´s 30´s 40´s 50´s 60´s 70´s 80´s and the 90´s too
R/TechnicallyCorrect
*yes*
Literally
When the Rembrandts appeared at the end and I heard them sing I actually felt nostalgic for a show I never watched.
Same
Never watched Friends?? Damn you missed a movement mate
Felt the same lol
lol
I missed the show too (wasn't older enough for the show to appeal), but the song is baked into my childhood. So much radio play.
I lost it when the smoke came out for the 80's power ballard style... Fantastic!
That was a favorite part of mine too. 🤣
me too 😂
THe guy who sang the Queen part is fantastic, he really sounded like Freddy.
I wish for the full song with him only
I think that was Cunio - look up his No More I Love Yous on here - it's enchanting
He's that Sad Clown.
@@StanislavLuminous Cunio is not Puddles the clown
Yeah, initially when he came on I had no clue who he was supposed to be. Then he started singing and I was like daaaamn! He's Freddie!
The fact that the 90s is now considered Vintage is strange.
So now I'm vintage. Cool.
Well 1990 WAS 30 years ago.
True. You are like x amount of years.. wait.. it is not 2010, we are in 2020.. time to add a decade to that number.
I'm amazed
2000 is vintage brow
PLEASE do a full version with the 1950's guy. That is pure gold you're spinning.
Just do all of them. We'd watch them.
Dunno why it reminds me of Yola Carter- Faraway Look. Just stunning.
Yes please
I need full versions of the entire decades
YES PLEASE!
Literally said “if the actual Rembrants don’t come out for the 90s...”
I said that about the tambourine guy. If he doesn't show up for this video.... BOOM 70S
Just the grins on everyone's faces when The Rembrandts take the stage. Made my day.
For some reason the "ft. The Rembrandts" part didnt register for my brain so that was a nice surprise
they are the originals!
Me too and then they came on and started singing and my smile was so big.
The same
That's why I watched right away instead of putting it in my Watch Later. How'd you all miss that?
@@postmodernjukebox Wait...I'm confused. I thought PMJ did the originals; all those other artists are just covering your stuff, right?
How can you shatter my world like this?!?!?!?! What's next, no Tooth Fairy?!
Nice to see that the 80's belong to Queen.
I thought that 80s guy sounded more like Meat Loaf.
@@jaimeogas The guy was wearing Freddie Mercury's outfit from Live Aid
Wellll pertaining to this video yes
It's funny considering at least half of their best songs are from 70s (including the referenced We are the champions). I honestly struggled with the decades, most of them seemed out of place.
oh you mean Johnny Sin?
The 50-s version is absolutely gold!!! Great stuff guys!!!
80's is a good shot too
The 80s are ideal combination of Freddy Mercury and Steve Vai.
The phrasing of both is phenomenal!
Man, I wanna be as smoooooth as Mr. 1950s. Also, THE ACTUAL REMBRANDTS. Carry on, PMJ!
Homie was so slick with it.
Rogelio is definitely the Mr. Smooth of this vid! Have you seen his 1950s cover of "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" with us?!
@@postmodernjukebox Oh yes!! Y'all took us to CHURCH!! :)

So, I’m not proud of this (I rewatched the video to spot the Tambourine Guy, and he is indeed wonderful!), but I missed him the first time, because I was, uh, watching the, uh...thicker side of the screen...
@@SimilarIndividual I had to watch again because I missed him too... and I really AM a tambourine girl haha
Also dating and marriage: this man can commit!
And somehow the clapping at the end was everything 🙌
I'm actually crying. So many amazingly talented people of various colours, genders, vocal ranges, styles. And they are all here to bring the iconic music of various decades to life. I love everyone who made this happen.
♥️♥️♥️
exactly the same i feel. Look those people. All are friends. Color, Religion doesnt matter. World can be the Paradise if anybody wants it
YES!
Well said...
Crying here too, but started cackling when Casey busted out the sitar! 😆👍🏽
I love how you can see the complete delight in the other’s faces when the Rembrands show up and play the original.
Did they just reference Freddie Mercury? The Beatles and Tina Turner? Lol
And that's a great ending!
You’re god damn right they did!
i love that it wasn't an over the top Freddie but it was still clearly Freddie, I think he would have loved it.
Yes they did!
And also Andrew Sisters
I was the 1000th like ^^
I absolutely love how the Maestro himself - Scott - who made such performace possible, finding, organizing and inspiring all these beautiful and talented people, is playing humbly in the back.
Sometimes that's what the real star of the show does.
that enthusiastical "YOURE BROKE" in 1920s style. i felt that.

thank you! we wanted to capture what our live show is like:)
1980's is the look you need when you're on stage at 8pm but need to rescue hostages in the Nakatomi tower at 9pm
This will definetely be in the history books, PMJ, great work!!!
Also, the Queen one was SPOT-ON and how they transition from one era to the next is so smooth.
So the ‘80s can just be summed up as “Queen”? This seems correct.
With hints of Billy Joel and George Micheal, yeah.
Michael jackson bro
Where the frick is the king
I'm somewhat disappointed in that since I was expecting either Michael Jackson or some kind of New Wave homage.
@@LeUmoq wtf, first of all, he was an absolute genius, second, there is no proof that he did that, and third, whether you like it or not, he was the most successful artist, especially in the 80's. Inform yourself before you judge someone🙄
Full of appreciation and admiration for everyone else but tambourine guy is the only one I care about being there for me
Tambourine guy is key
He stole the show.
Really? I couldn't stop watching this girl on left. How she managed not to fall with this cable under her feet! Oo
Blasphemous! What about Casey?
Well he is kinda awesome and probably has as much energy in his tambourine hand as a full cast does, we love our Tambourine guy!
This is like living in the 70's and every body being nostalgic for the 50's. This is the 21's and everyone being nostalgic for the 90's. AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGHHHH!!!!!
40's
Honestly, by that math, we are nostalgic for the early 2000s. Which is insane to think about
The One Where We Came Back To Remember A Friend
I got teary eyed when The Rembrandts started playing the starting verse.
Whoa! This is incredible, y’all!
Thanks, Puddles!
Ok but is anyone going to talk about that epic shred just before the Rembrandts?
Looked and sounded like Steve Vai!

There's one where he doesn't have his tambourine (it's quite funny), so he's credited as "guy" instead of "tambourine guy".

20s 'flappers'
30s jazz
40s Andrews Sisters
50s Ben E. King (or other rhytm & blues artists)
60s Beatles (Sgt. Pepper in particular)
70s Tina Turner
80s Queen (Live Aid concert in particular)
Thank you
60s one wasn't really Beatles. It was more rnb/soul oriented. Sgt. Peppers sounded nothing like that. Beach Boys, maybe to some extent. The Beatles...well, not so much.
Sasmit Roy the 60s sounded nothing like rnb or soul. Other than SgtPprs I would compare it to CCR.
Pretty good except I'd call 1920s early jazz/swing, flappers is more of a subculture than a genre
@@sasmitroy5480 listen to good day sunshine or getting better, it sounds like that particular beatles style
I did not read the whole title,
then as the 90's version started I was like "gee, that looks a lot like Phil Solem",
then I was like "it's pretty cool they got rembrandts look-alikes for the 90's version"
then I saw the title and was like "holy crap, they got the rembrandts to participate in a montage cover! that's sooo cool"
That is a great story I'm glad I was here to read it
Same here👋
The 50s and 80s will forever be my favorite eras of music

This video is bigger than it's outside dimensions. There is a whole world in here ❤🔥
okay but can we talk about the guy for the 80s who did the homage to freddie mercury???? because holy SHIT

Look for his cover of “Video killed the radio star” here in the Pmj channel. It is amazing!
It was phenomenal
+ when you need someone downed, he can put on his tuxedo for ya.
Very cool voice, but that tattoo is shitty.
Now the big question is how would the 2000's, 2010's, and 2020 versions of the theme song all sound like?
All shit.
Download protools and do it yourself...quantize and autotune it, it'll sound like everything you've heard from the last fifteen years, i.e. it will sound like nothing at all...
Largely devoid of talent
2000s like a Katy Perry pop music
2010s like tecno-pop
Auto-tuned signing, whispered lyrics, and one of those annoying modern R&B electronic beats that seem to be disjointed
The 80s guy absolutely killed it. I know it's just a Freddie Mercury impression but you have to be a really incredible good singer to pull that off believably and he even had some of his own flair. Would love to hear more of him.
The Rembrandts are a masterpiece unto themselves this adaptation of a timely classic is beyond the thumbs I can raise!
Wow! I always thought "Dr. Who" was the longest-airing tv-show, but "Friends" aired for 70 years!
lmao
The Sky at Night is over 62 years old and with the same presenter (Sir Patrick Moore) from 1957 to 2013! The theme music is classical but the composer (Sibelius) was still alive when it first aired!!
Umm lol sorry but it didn't air for 70 years
Steven Ahart lol run before somebody wooosh you
"As the world turns" was quite long too
can we please talk about Casey at the end just waddling around with a sitar and grinning like a maniac?
Just another day for him?
I just noticed- 😂😂😂
I thoroughly enjoyed this arrangement. The idea, the setup and its execution were absolutely perfect!
Wow.
Now I want full versions of all of them.
I think, I think! There might be a full version of the 90s one
Me through the entire duration of the song: I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY MISSED OUT THE CLAPS
Me when they clap at the end: YOU MOTHERFUCKERS
;)
This performance should be on Friends reunion
So, how many musical stylings from the 20th century you want represented in this video?
The Rembrandts:yes.
This performance always puts a smile on my face! I don't know how many times now I've returned to this page!!
Tambourine Guy : I'm happy already.
Angus Young-style with a sitar : laughing and enjoying every second
Having the original artist in the video rocking like my brain remembers the 90's : absolutely priceless!
Looking forward to seeing you guys in concert somewhere near Pittsburgh anytime soon!
I'm reading all the tambourine man comments like "I wanna be sitar guy".
Aka Casey Abrahms (Angus Young-style). He's a staple of the PMJ videos and touring cast.
I love how happy Scott looks at 2:43. He can be so proud of himself and all the people who brought this channel to the point where a video like this can be made. Great job you awesome people!
