If you look ate the Alpine, it's basically the same from 2012 when it was still called Lotus. The only major difference is the proper screen instead of an LCD display.

I love Mercedes they share every little technical detail with their fans & the world. No other team will ever share even a single photo of their steering wheel. Infact merc did 2 videos on steering wheel alone way back in the day too.

It all makes sense what the different buttons do, but I wonder, how much does the driver actually do, during a normal lap??? Besides gear change of course. In the onboard vids, it seems like they change e.g. brake balance several times pr lap...
Also, does the car have software that let them program/preset thing for each individual corner? Based on GPS. So you can have a certain diff and BB setting for one corner, and that automatically change for the next
No, that was banned, team cannot do changes (wireless) and the wheel cannot do automatic changes, only the driver can make changes.
They have presets for different turns, they need to select it before the turn and then reverse to the previous settings, that's mostly what they change.

Even if you could, all wheels use proprietary software and interfaces to interface the wheel with the car.

$100k steering wheel. All I got out of this video. To many buttons and dials for a guy driving the car. Hell I remember when Rusty Wallace retired from NASCAR. He in his cup car and the Pensei driver in his car. The Penske driver says my steering wheel costs $20. Now granted he retired 2005. He said well my steering wheel only cost $200 bucks. Indy car driver said my car costs at least $100k. Rusty said oh about $40k at the time of the interview. Then Indy car driver said we go over 200mph around the track. Rusty said oh we do the same at some tracks bumping and beating the hell out of each other. The indy guy goes oh we touch we break.
