    The best part of this is it oy took 2 hours to fix this axle, in the states it would take that long to try and find a replacement part, then 1 or 2 weeks to get it in to the shop. Then scheduling the mechanic to replace it may take another week. There is something to be said about cross training people to perform a variety of tasks. Thanks to the company for sharing this video with us. 👍👍👍😁🇨🇱🇺🇸

    I love how they solve this, as an engineer i still have to say that they are softening the material if jts not properly heat treated again afterwards. Another crash will make it fall apart for sure.

    • @cuttersgoose
      @cuttersgoose Před 2 lety +9

      Well your wrong... a straight axle and all suspension for that matter is malleable steel , it’s made to bend..if it were heat treated it would be brittle and that’s dangerous.... I’ve welded and bent many axles and spindles and have thousands of miles on my vehicles.

    • @55metalmonkey
      @55metalmonkey Před 2 lety +2

      As much as I'd like to agree with you I can't..... these axles are mild steel and are not heat treated. A heat treated solid front axle would stress fracture and snap from rough roads, pot holes, road craters....etc. (I know.....very rare road conditions in Pakistan I'm sure) a malleable axle that bends when damaged is much safer. I've worked on quite a few classic light duty trucks (40's-60s) which mostly have a similar mild steel solid front axles with king pins, a proper alignment involves a torch and a big ass pry bar/wrench.

    After reading the comments, I need to supply some correct information. I worked in heat treating and forging metals for 40 years. First this axle is a forging probably of a ASI 10xx steel. It will be heat treated. Properly heat treated metals are stronger and more durable. Heat treating does not make them brittle, it makes these axles malleable, that is able to bend and twist. I have heat treated axles of this size.
    The hot straightening this guy is doing is very good A steel can be heated to any temperature lower than
    it's final tempering temperature and the hardness/malleability won't change.
    I am a good pressman and have straightened big heavy parts. These guys a masters of their craft. I also noticed that their shop and tools are clean and orderly.
