What is the N'we Jinan Eeyou Istchee Tour?
The N'we Jinan Eeyou Istchee Tour is a music initiative that brings a mobile recording studio into schools and community centers across the Cree communities in Canada. The Tour is a collaborative project commissioned by the Cree Nation Youth Council in Quebec. The program is aimed to create an environment where youth can express themselves musically and creatively under the guidance of a professional music producer. As there is a need for music programs in many Cree communities, the N'we Jinan Eeyou Istchee Tour offers a dynamic approach to music education. Participants learn about recording, music production, songwriting, performance, marketing and design. Within the studios' three-day residency, two to three original songs are created, containing messages that focus on cultural identity and uplifting messages. The tour is documented by a professional film team where interviews and live performance sessions are captured, encouraging youth to emerge from their shells and to express themselves.

As a woodland cree kid from driftpile this songs makes me tear up and miss my home and family each day as I live in the city to get my education, each shot reminded me of home, each verse reminded me of the songs my elders would sing as I was younger, hiy hiy hiy hiy a thousand times, kiskahitin.
They all sound so lovely. I wish I could learn all of Canada's native language . xo

A few bad apples do not rot my basket.
A very stressful time it has been, a target I am for many. I did meet a lovely Cree family at the beach, a chat we had about summer vacation, going back to school for the kids. Mom told me she home schools. Kudos to them that can, do teach thier children better than the educational systems.
