So sorry for your loss. May our great grandfather help you find each other again.
My brother is the one who raps the second and third verse, with the purple hat. Oh my god, I cried watching this for the very first time! I cried when y'all were making it haha, it was awesome at the end when we all got to be part of it at the front of the school. :D Graduated that very year, and so did my brother. I'm from pine ridge, south dakota, reservation. When I saw this video, it gave me hope that one day our youth will find the light and be blessed in their walk in life, Wopila (thank you)
My name is Bill. I do not have my own YT account. Just want to say this.Since falling in love with this song I have grown even closer to my own roots. A bow down to all that you must still put up with. I love watching you love your community.
The hope for this Canada of ours is in our youth. The kids of Grassy Narrows have made my heart soar and brought tears to my eyes.
My native language teacher plays this song during class and I love it
Are you native?
Respect from Celtic/Norse community! Very powerful song!
Thank you....needed to hear this...my mom is from grassy my uncle keith is one who died from mercury poisoning.......I've been so lost....been searching for something good. Hard in the city.
Sorry to hear about your uncle Keith. We are all hearing about the struggles in grassy and communities across the nation particularly through Nwe Jinan and the voices of the youth. You are all showing great character and you are all inspiring. No matter how hard it is in the city you there is a place for you. Never give up, keep praying and keep moving forward. God has your back.
2 thumbs up for this inspirational song to get your message across about the sad situation on your lands & in your community BUT 2 THUMBS DOWN to our gov't for doing NOTHING for over 50 years...just shameful IMO
we watched this at school, it was so good I had to come back
Kujo Jotaro You also got to see the hard core auto tune used in this video by people who don’t have talent.
I'm glad you listened to this in school!! The message in this is beautiful and these artists do have have talent, keep listening and exploring the music and the meaning that is right for you.
Same with me l looooove this song so much
Same
same :D But my class watched We Won’t Forget You :( it was sad 😔 lucky that my Grandma and all her 9 siblings survived:D and my father because he went and also survived, and if he didn’t survive i wouldn’t be born first nation or so
told you people, Native pride is strong in the North..why can't the south learn from us..it's about time we took back what's ours before it is all destroyed....Native Pride!!!! real Natives and yet not one is wearing a headdress..respect.
you bitch!!!
+Railbow dash I know right
Yeah south should be respectful for the natives in the north!
+Railbow dash your a bitch
thanks bitch :D
Nobody has forgotten you... let us all grow together and find the answers that will heal the land!
Such power and such beauty within this song 🎵 keep up your strong spirits and this beautiful music 🎶 flowing until your voices are heard around the world 🌎 ❤️ ✨️
Amazing what you can do, when you give some tools to young people. Talent just flourish! Grassy Narrows First Nation, you should be so proud of your youth. So talented, and valuable, a deep true message on this song as well.
My favourite song
These kids are terrific. The lyrics are inspirational and very moving.
Home to Me
Keep old ways that we’ve always had
It still lives inside
This is a place where we love the land
Let’s work to show our pride
Keep us safe, keep us free, like it used to be
Don’t want to be tied down
We find love where we’re from and beat against the drums
It’s a beautiful sound
From the ground up, we’ll find a path home
Feeling pulled by the sun, wish I can go
We learned from the past, now we can grow
We’re promised a chance, let the plans show
Go big, go far, there are no limits
I wanna see change, so my soul lives it
They cut down our trees, while we blow kisses
Defend our home, while they dismiss us
Gete ishkonigan
It feels like home to me
Taapshko endaayaan
It feels like home to me
Sometimes it’s hard to find the words to say, “you’re home to me”
Sometimes it’s hard to find the words to say, “you’re home to me”
Don’t be afraid when you’re falling fast
There’s something in the unknown
I held onto my culture, it’s been calling me back
There is a story of hope
Winds of change, long ago, hear the chants far and low
Our voices called out for rain
The it rained, brought us life, gave us faith, gave us sight
To see that we shall remain
Let your spirit soar as far as you can
Try not to be reminded by the scars of the past
Rise from the ruins, keep protecting the land
Don’t take it for granted, can’t neglect what we have
Stand together as a nation, express what we feel
True conversation and address what is real
Connected to the land, we are one with each other
This is our home to discover
Gete ishkonigan
It feels like home to me
Taapshko endaayaan
It feels like home to me
Sometimes it’s hard to find the words to say, “you’re home to me”
Sometimes it’s hard to find the words to say, “you’re home to me”
Gotta stay on point like the fastest arrow
Bring hope to the people of Grassy Narrows
Want peace in the land, can’t go back to the battles
8th Fire in action, casting shadows
From the old to the new, let us show you the truth
Light up the path, there’s a glow in the youth
Boozhoo to the world, this is where we live
Let the journey begin
Gete ishkonigan
It feels like home to me
Taapshko endaayaan
It feels like home to me
Gete ishkonigan
It feels like home to me
Taapshko endaayaan
It feels like home to me
Sometimes it’s hard to find the words to say, “you’re home to me”
Sometimes it’s hard to find the words to say, “you’re home to me”
God bless the natives of this great country. Native people need to be leaders. The only people who truly know how to connect with the land and protect it. God bless you native people, I hope your people become leaders once again. Spirituality is #1 and your people have always understood that. Much Love.
I'm native and I really love this song!😍😘
Debbie Poker Lol Hi sista
I just heard today, the interview with Sharice and Paul on CBC radio, and I was captivated with the dialogue, but more importantly, I was embedded in the lyrics of Home to Me. It brought tears to my eyes.
What a wonderful production and effort. The vocals are exquisite, the harmonies are second to none, and the rapping works wonderfully (and this is coming from a 55 year old white guy).
I have always had a deep admiration for all native Canadians, but it embarrasses and maddens me, the struggles that you endure. I just made an iTunes purchase of Home to Me.
I'm a 66 year old white guy and I am also maddened by the continued struggles we are witnessing. I've been following Nwe Jinan since its inception and the message of hope and determination rising from the souls of the new First Nations generation is travelling from coast to coast to coast. It is time we all stop to listen to these kids.
Native Pride Is Strong Especially When You Are. Native Is Our Pride And No One Will Bring Us Down!
beautiful. I'm mexican. native pride all day
THANKS MEXICO >>>
I personally prefer the term ethnicity instead of race, because we all belong to one race, the human race.
Realize this is Canada, not Mexico
I love Mexicans too ❤👌🏽
Omq Mexicans are still natives you dumb fuck. Aztecs, Mayans, Toltecs, etc more tribes are apart of my Mexican culture. We share same genetic pools and all belong to the americas so relax and correct your self.
Hi there! I just wanted to let you know how amazing and beautiful I think this song is! It brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it! I'm a teacher in Ontario and I have many students who watch this video as we learn about access to clean water in Canada. I hope you all stay strong and keep fighting for your community! And know that your voices and story have impacted many Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth across Turtle Island!

Amazing!! Such a great work, Northwest Ontario representing
Thank you for your inspiring song. Although I am living in San Francisco I feel connected to the land after hearing your song and seeing you in the snow. You remind me of the song I sang as a teen canoeing on Lake of the Woods, " land of the silver birch, home of the beaver, my heart cries out to thee, hills of the north. Blue lake and rocky shore, I will return once more, boom, didee boom, boom... "
i'm in love with this song!👌❤
I love this song. It's exactly what I needed for my Native hoop dance solo which I'll be performing at the end of april. I'm located down here in the state of New Mexico where the hoop dance was orginated. I hope to attend college in Canada and meet you all.
hoop dancers up north here don't ever acknowledge that fact anymore of where the hoop dance originated .. the odd one did in early 90's but not no more .. they acknowledge who they seen or taught them but never where it came from ...
I Just Love This Song
Awesome guys! What a great message!
