Zelensky was a fool to blindly trust the US and other EU countries... Now Russia is doing this because they don't have a choice. How can they let Ukraine be under the control of NATO, the same country which was a part of Russia once upon a time. There are many Ukrainians who wanted to be a part of Russia too. The knowledge and technology in order to make, at the least, a crude nuclear device is spreading around the world. Mutually Assured Destruction was meant to prevent "rational" countries from launching a strike because to do so would be committing suicide. However, the thinking amongst some terrorists is such that suicide is not only not a problem, it is an honor. Should they achieve nuclear explosive technology, Mutually Assured Destruction will mean nothing to them, and will not be a deterrent to them in using a nuclear device. We SHOULD be concerned about the proliferation of nuclear explosive technology.

In short, fission (A-bomb)works by smashing large atoms together, splitting them into smaller atoms. Each split releasing energy. Fusion (H-bomb)on the other hand, is forcing small atoms (i.e hydrogen) together, creating heavier atoms (i.e Helium). Each fusion releases energy. No, I don't design nuclear weapons in real life, only in a physics simulator called 'The Powder Toy', haha! Highly recommended, if you're into that kind of stuff.

"Now I am become death, destroyer of worlds."
    J. Robert Oppenheimer.
I know it wasn't Oppenheimer alone that made the bomb, but imagine for a second knowing that you have unlocked the key, opened the door and shown mankind the room where its self destruction lies. Effectively giving them the tools to destroy life all over the globe as we know it. The 40s were such a unique time that I am fascinated with, the speed at which technology and life as we knew it changed is just astounding. My grandfather was born in 1931, after WW2 joined the Canadian Armed Forces and served for 25 years fighting in Korea then being stationed in germany (my whole family, mother, aunt and uncle went with them) during the tension going on between east and west german (and US/Soviets). But just imagine for a second, imagine being born just in time to see and understand that the entire word is fighting its bloodiest war, the men are dying by the thousands every day to fight against a true evil, that somewhere in Europe there are camps where people are being executed en masse, or that the atomic bomb which would forever change man kinds ability to wage war on large scales, imagining seeing and being alive for the moon landing, the beinging of the internet, the modernization the world took from 1940 to 2012 when he died. I just wish I had of given him a little more of my time, I wish that I had of been a little older before he died and had the passion for our history that I do now, because he LIVED it, he survived it, he had a family and flurished in it and that the end of his life, a man who spent 25 years in the army, saw things no man should see, never became embittered or disillusioned with man or the country he fought for, he never hardened to the point where he was more a soldier than a father or grandfather, he was always those things first, he was my mothers father, he was my grandfather first, who happened to be a korean war veteran. I love my father to death, I really do, but the greatest man I have ever know will always be Willis Roger (or Barney as he was called) Pritchard. Full of life till the end and all that I could ever hope for is to be half the man he was, if I could leave just half that impact, half that legacy behind I would be happy. He was born in 1931 and died in December of 2012. 9 years ago.... Funny how time works, it seemed like just yesterday the other month, now it seems like he's been gone for a lifetime. I just hope wherever he is, where ever the winds of fate have carried his kind soul I do hope I get to meet him again and can finally hear those stories, where I can finally ask those questions I didnt get to ask. I love you Papa, we all miss you terribly, I do hope my dogs are keeping you company up there while you wait for the rest of us.
To anyone out there with relatives who have been through war, talk to them. Who knows, some of them have been holding what they've seen in for years and it may be cathartic to get it out and to teach you why we should avoid these wars. Some day very very soon there will be ZERO ww2 or korean war veterans around. The greatest generation will be but a memory we pass on to our children, and our childrens children. And we should all hope to whatever greater power you believe in we never have to summon the strength and courage to fight such a mighty evil again. Because this time I dare say that if war breaks out across the world, everyone will be fighting such a war, whether you are in the military or not. It'll be a fight for the survival of our species if we start launching nukes at each other. Sorry to ramble, this just made me think of my grandfather and life back then. He would have been about 14 or 15 when those bombs dropped on Japan. if he'd have been born a few years earlier he would have been in WW2 as well, I'm just glad he made it through korea, that was a pretty deadly war especially when north korea was taken and the chinese started flooding in the by the 10s of thouands.
For a hill, men would kill, why? They do not know

technically the cold war was the third world war. The entire world was plagued with war, insurgencies, and back stabbings caused by two sides fighting for influence. The cold war lasted 40+ years, and technically it's the longest world war ever. I wouldn't be surprised there is another cold war between china, and america. It's gonna be basically ww4 just with influence, backstabbings, economics, and proxy wars. I believe that world war 4 is just gonna be fought by intelligence gathering, influence, and economic crippling of the enemy. Forcing the world to be plunged in chaos from proxy wars, and insurgencies trying to one up against the enemies of their benefactors.

You can actually feel some radiation. It’s a burning sensation. Alpha radiation is a Helium nucleus, with the most energy, but stops at your skin. Beta radiation is energised electrons travelling very fast, and can penetrate a bit of skin. Gamma radiation is essentially light, but at a super high frequency, and highly energetic. This goes straight through you, and damages DNA and causes radicals to form in your body. Radicals are ionised elements like ionised oxygen. They react with all the other molecules in your body and do a lot of damage. The radicals are formed, by the gamma radiation energising electrons so much, that they shoot off from the element.
Usually when light hits an electron (say UV), it energises the electron up to another high energy state (they’re initially at ground state), and then the electron drops back down to ground state, and releases a photon either of the same energy or less (if it goes up to a really high state, it can stagger back down and release a series of photons).
So yeah, radiation causes burns like sunburns. Only it’s more destructive and is felt immediately, instead of the day after.

Actually hydrogen bombs are solely based on what we learned from The Trinity device and Fat Man. Both are identical and use conventional explosives to implode and start the nuclear fission reaction. After that the difference is hydrogen bomb creates fission and fusion. It is this reaction that makes them way more powerful.
Not to be confused with Little Boy. The only atomic bomb ever detonated that used Uranium 235.
Fat Man was Plutonium based due to time constraints of refining U-235.

It is important to add that fallout is actually quite neglligible for strategic weapons since they will be airburst. Airburst bombs are, in most cases, high enough such that the fireball doesn't touch the ground. If it does, then it picks up the dirt around it and causes vast amounts of local fallout. It is this fallout that travels for miles. However after a strategic bomb at a reasonable height, the fallout will only affect distances very close to the explosion. Background radiation on the other hand, will increase regardless.
