- The Sims 3 is a classical family management simulator game allowing you to manage almost all aspects of life. Naturally, the DLCs decided to get wacky and add in some fun nonhuman types to play as like vampires and genies. Genies, however, are broken. As you can guess having a mind controlling genie that can fly and is immortal might be a bad addition for game balance. So today we ask the question is the sims 3 a perfectly balanced game with no exploits excluding the mind control only challenge.
What you have seen here today is part of a fantastic perfectly balanced series on youtube where I go from game to game and break them with wacky exploits to gain things like unlimited gold. So I doubt it's just a "joke" unless he doesn't monetize any CZcams video, and thus collects zero income from them

yeah i have both sims 3 and 4 and after about a few months with the sims 4, i just HAD to go back to 3, its so much better. It has so much more personality, with lore and an abundance of traits with so much stuff coming with a single pack. This is just personal preference of course, but I really do prefer the more "realistic" art style of 3. The only issue would be the amount of lag - although that's never been an issue for me and I've only ever played on non-gaming laptops. Would highly recommend!
Honestly I like Sims 3 but they have the ugliest sims out of the whole franchise. Sims 2 is the best imo, even though they're not as expansive as 3

It's the little stories in the midst of the tragedy that makes it work. Two of the sims in the few hours that spent together mindcontrolled and trapped in a pool together fell in love with each other, you can see the one that lived longer feeling heartbroken after the other died at 31:22.
I still play Sims 3 with all expansions. Your version was definitely lacking some updates! The game is so complex that I still have not come across every situation after 10 years. For a start I have not yet had a genie sim!

Probably because it's just the debug interaction to add sims to your household but with a different name (In which case when the mind control is over it's the same as removing them from your household which doesn't return them to their household obviously)

The sims isn't so much resource intensive, as it is extremely poorly coded. You should turn on vsync in your GPU settings, as the game for some reason decides to use any and all resources available to maximizing the framerate, even if you have a modern day god computer, it will simply make the computer render the game at 12000 frames per second and will cause your computer to overheat. The game also refuses to do regular save game optimizations and world cleanup, so your saves will become increasingly bloated with irrelevant information, and corrupt themselves, so you will need community patches.

And get a third party program designed to update Sims 3 to recognise your modern graphics card
And go into the coding to ensure it uses MORE THAN ONLY 2 RAM.
Its not the Sims series as a whole, its literally just TS3. Sims 2 definitely has problems with save corruption but if you know what NOT to do its very easy to avoid. TS3 will break itself or your computer, whichever comes first, no matter what you do when playing it unless you get third party fixes. And as painfully boring and shallow as TS4 is, it definitely improved on the technical issues the series had problems with previously, though its certainly not without its own smaller technical issues like simulation lag and visual glitching

writer. Once you master writing you get around 50k initial payout for your book. With all the right perks you can knock out most books in a day. All books come with royalties for a time. Usually pays 1/5th the initial payout every week for 5-10 weeks. Now do 7 books like this. You get initial payout of 350k + 70k a week.
Every now and again you get a best seller which is like 3x the value and has longer payouts.
If you pick the right perks your sim will also enjoy writing, do it faster, make more money from it, and last longer while doing it.

I would still be playing TS3 and making worlds for it in the year of our blord 2021 if I could actually get it to not keep crashing on my new upgraded PC and access the store items I'd bought back in the day. TS4 couldn't get my attention since I couldn't make entire custom neighborhoods like in 2 and 3.

I still play The Sims 3 to this day, because it’s so much more content-rich than any other Sims game, and despite the ridiculous demand it seems to put on my PC I always love it when wild shit begins to happen as the save goes on.

Still better than The Sims 4. Removing create-a-style was the biggest deal-breaker. I can't get nearly as cool outfits and furniture in 4. The open neighborhoods of 3 is also great, I love jumping between my sim at the park and my sim at home instantly. Third reason I prefer 3: horses.

Sims 3 has a bug with new GPU’s that has it pinned at max utilization. You need to mod the game to add support for modern GPU’s.
You also can use your EA origin account to log-in.
But where is the fun in not burning out your GPU?

I think you MIGHT be missing the point of Spifs channel, or.....at least you were when you posted this. ;)
You should also use CF explorer to allow the game exe to use more than 3GB of RAM but you also have to increased the RAM allocation in the config files from the default 1GB. No clue why EA didn't update this in the 2014 patch.

I had to go into my pc settings and have it devote more ram to the sims 3 so it can run better.
I am happy to report there has been no spontaneous combustion as of yet.
I have idea: Use martial artists as money maker. You only need Supernatural and World Adventures
This is how:
- You need two person. One to pick up the gem and sold it, one for martial artists. For faster and better results, martial artists need to have disciplined trait. For picker it doesn't matter.
- Go to China and buy board breaker
- Build martial arts skills for martial artists to the point that is sufficient enough for breaking space rock board and don't forget to break oak board or higher (in order to get an achievement in which you get gems for breaking space rock board) around 150 times.
- Prepare your gem cutter (from Supernatural) and a sim to cut gems everytime martial artists break space rock block.
- Get every gem and cut it. If you want better result, get 10 different gems before you cut them and then you'll get heart-shaped cut, the most valuable cut you can get in gem cutter aside from spire cut with easiest way possible.
I use this method for quite a time and it is effective for someone who don't like their sims having a job.
In this video: the spiffing brit almost breaks the sims 3 by just trying to log in.

Nah, it sucked when I bought it new. On the old pc, it took about 5 minutes to save around 2010.
A lot of the worlds weren't put together properly or optimized. Isla paradiso ran at like 5 fps on my desktop back then cuz so many sims would get stuck on things, things wouldn't despawn, stuff like that.
The entirety of the Sims 3 is a buggy mess, which is sad given it is still superior in features to the other games

Huh, this reminds me of an exploit that I discovered myself when I was playing the game. I would build a communi-tea lot with a basement full of VR-Headsets. For whatever reason, if you had your sim put on the headset and take it off, it would now be considered your property and you could pick it up off the ground to put in your inventory and sell. Each one would sell for several thousand, so that was practically considered one of my sim's jobs to "test out" VR-Headsets. Nice thing about this exploit is that any sim can do it. No magical powers required. I doubt that this was ever patched as balance was never something that the devs really seemed to care for. Which really should be pretty obvious when they actually recommend that you use cheat codes to enjoy the game. Also, in regards to the whole game performance thing, I do find it comical that the launcher actually suggests that you don't play the game with all of the expansion packs enabled. Rather they recommend that you only play a few expansion packs at a time....likely to improve performance.
I always play with all EPs on bc I can never remember what hair/clothes/furniture come with each game and don't wanna glitch out my town just bc I feel like not being bothered by the univeristy mascot today, or turning off seasons or something.

I still regularly play the sims 3 cause I have almost all the packs and tons of mods, and I still plan to buy the rest of the packs. Needless to say when I play my computer acts as a small heater and my fans make it sound like my desktop is getting ready to take flight!

Another exploit of the game is Red Berry Bean farming. The starting price of a low quality Red Berry Bean is $75, but as you farm them and their quality improves, you can be sweeping up to 20k per harvest.

having an evil genie being extremely powerful is at least pretty much what it says on the tin. I find other exploits in Sims 3 a lot worse. Like picking flowers you can immediately sell for a three figure sum - each. On a place where the stuff regrows almost instantly. Why does any sim work anything else, who pays such prices. Why has that economy not crashed. Or functional store content that often is basically a cheat item.

I got it working on my rig, featuring an RTX 2080 and an i7 8700k. It runs at about 50% load for the GPU and about 30% load for the CPU. For hardware demands, this game was way ahead of its time; only now, 11 years after it launched, am I playing it on the hardware it needed.
Also, check out the Into the Future expansion for The Sims 3. As soon as you get to the future, the lot you start on is considered your home lot so you can take everything on it and sell it with the only consequences being that the stuff is gone. Lol

Sims 3 was my favorite for the simple reason that you could personally control the characters, and you didn't have to point and click.
Made the gameplay so much more fun when the characters weren't struggling to pathfind or randomly standing idle even while you have task in que.

yea, I just launched it today and it was almost as brutal to my computer as Surviving Mars, it even overheated my CPU to the point of failsafe shut down.

I am a bit late but the FPS is probably not capped! The Sims 3 can run at many hunderds fps if it's not capped because the game does not have an in game setting for it, but 60 fps is more than enough to run it smoothly. Mine was running at around 700 fps till I capped it in the Nvidia control panel, my laptop had a real bad time.. 😂

Their potato faces, the musics, the UI, the animations, the life aspiration, the personalities of Sims (favorite dish/colour/music), of course the open world and yeah, I have so much fond memories, this game is such a big part of my childhood.

Funny enough, on my old ass potato laptop from 2007 the Sims 3 were running fine. I never had a crash, bugs nor glitches in over couple hundreds of hours so yeah, maybe the crashes and technical difficulties are due to retroactive compatibility ?
