    It's beautiful to hear this performance - invoking the memory of Fats Navarro. His line, and his trumpet playing.
    Fats does not get the attention he deserves. This is just great! Bravo!

    Joan Mar Sauque is the star of this one. He's always Mr. Cool with that sweet fat sound-almost a classical trumpet tone but playing really clean jazz lines. really beautiful to hear. Miles would have been proud of Joan Mar. Yeah Luigi's a monster but he's got like extra fingers i think, it must be a trick saxophone hahaha! Sauque and Andrea bring the best out of each other too when they trade 4s like that. I just can't get enough of you guys. This band and joey Alexander that's all i listen to anymore!

    Agree with Ray below Joan Mar's intro just grabbed you and the smoothness of his solo...but really, sometimes watching Andrea sing so much we can forget how great a trumpet she plays and all this almost 3 years ago. Luigi - never - sounds- bad or flat or anything but Real Good. Thanks everyone.

      I think that's Andrea responding to the fact that she kinda screwed up when they were supposed to trade off every two bars beginning at the bridge (3:30), she missed her first two bars so they ended up in reverse order . I don't think anyone noticed, or really cares except maybe Andrea and the other trumpet soloist guy.

    • @numbsain
      @numbsain Před 7 lety +3

      That's exactly what happened, Sheelagh. It was refreshing to hear that she's human haha because she's usually so perfect. Oh except for lyrics hahahah! No offense Andrea but you live in Spain you should know Gibralter would never "trumble" and it's not made of "whey" hahahaha it's okay my Spanish sucks much worse than your English (and i'm half spanish too!)

    • @paanikki
      @paanikki Před 7 lety +3

      +Ray Cabarga, you are probably referrring to the recordings she first made when she was about 15-18 years old. She must have learnt the songs and lyrics when she was even younger, without having much actual skills in English pronounciation or grammar.
      Even though she speaks completely understandable English today, she still sings "my baby don't cares..." instead of "my baby don't care" in "My Baby Just Cares For Me". Simply because she has learnt the lyrics before she could actually speak English properly.
      But I'm not complaining about the lack of language skills of an young lady who has practically 2 equally perfect languages (Catalan and Spanish) and sings in 5 languages. (+English, Portuguese, French).

    • @JackCarrondrums
      @JackCarrondrums Před 7 lety +1

      I was listening to the finished album today and realized they used this particular take of Boperation on the album. So my earlier comment about nobody noticing the minor screw up on trading 2's vs. 4's seems to be correct. They left it as is on the final mix. Unless they see this actual video of the song, no one will ever know. Sounds great no matter what!

    • @garryberman894
      @garryberman894 Před 4 lety

      @@paanikki Why all the nitpicking? Andrea knew English when she sang those songs - a singer can't put just the right feeling, phrasing, and emphasis on certain words and syllables without knowing what she (or he) is singing. English must be an extremely difficult language to learn, with all of its grammatical rules that make virtually no sense at all--plus, many of the old standards use various puns and play-on-words that would get by most ENGLISH-speaking listeners, let alone anyone singing in a language that isn't their own. I think her singing "my baby don't cares for..." is charming, and very endearing. So lay off.

    OK that's it. I'm adopting all of you and moving you to Sherman Oaks (LA) California. Don't argue, it's a done deal! You too Joan. The drum chair got a little hotter so, of course, Abril just moved over to the trumpet section. You need a number to keep track of these people they're in one section, No! now they're in another, No! now they're singing lead, No! get this Elia doubles Violin!! and lead vocal!! and background vocal !! Andrea sounds like she's been playing trumpet for twenty years--I'm worn out.

    Great! Here a suggestion for the rhythm section, particularly for the guitar! If you're going to be playing quarter notes, try playing an acoustic archtop guitar with nylon strings and high action, and play at max 2 note chords (On the d and the g string, most of the time you play only 3rds and 7ths). Gives the band the kick it needs! If you can't afford one: then on the electric guitar, lower the volume, aim for a harder sound and also play at max 2 note chords (On the d and the g string, most of the time you play only 3rds and 7ths). Trust me, it will sound a lot better! :)
    If you don't already know Freddie Green, you should check him out!
