Harry Carpenter…. The consummate professional! I feel really fortunate to have grown up as wee lad in the 50’s and early 60’s interested in all kinds of sports and having the benefit of Harry’s extensive sporting knowledge and enthusiasm supplementing his wonderful commentating on a vast range of sports throughout that era and later through the 70’s , 80’s and 90’s….An absolute Legend !
An absolute legend in every way! Harry’s incredible knowledge of sport, his iconic voice, and always a total gentleman and professional in every way. Harry will remain a national treasure in every way! It’s impossible to watch this without shedding a tear.
Harry Carpenter was the first famous person I ever met. I was 14. He was an absolute gentlemen.
I feel blessed I grew up listening to Harry who was part of a golden generation of commentators. He will never be bettered

Harry is a Legend. Much of my youth in the 70s 80s was listening to Harry commentate in the UK. Sadly missed
Gutteridge and carpenter were both legends. Weirdly enough they both died within a year of each other both 84 years old.
We were spoiled here in the UK with the two best boxing commentators ever...Harry Carpenter and Reg Gutteridge!
