Ok this is a bit long. 1992 my friend and I were at Gatwick airport waiting to take my first flight to LA, stood behind us was Lewis and his family. I introduced myself and asked if he was going on hols to. He said it was only him going over to do some writing. He gave us the telephone number and address of where he was staying and said we should call him up when settled and go out for a beer. (Let me just say in 92 I was 23 and a big fan of The Professionals) After a couple days I phoned him and that evening drove to where he was staying and picked him up. He said we should head to nearby Redondo pier. I think we tried about 4 or 5 pubs and also watched through the window an aerobic class in the Golds gym!!!. The guy was an absolute legend and gent. I did keep in touch up until a couple months before he passed and I’ve got to say in my life I’ve been lucky enough to have met many famous people but Lewis will always be the best and my greatest name dropper. RIP Lewis. Love to the family.

Lewis Collins (27 May 1946 - 27 November 2013). In 2003 Collins left Britain and abandoned acting and drama, and saw out his last decade in private business in the United States selling computer equipment. In early 2012 his return to acting was announced by his theatrical agent issuing a statement that he had been cast to play the role of the Earl Godwin in the historically based feature film production 1066, but in June 2013 it was announced by the same source that he had withdrawn from the production due to ill health. After being first diagnosed in 2008, Collins died at the age of 67 from cancer in Los Angeles on 27 November 2013.[Shortly before his death he had returned to visit England, spending some time in Merseyside.Collins' body was cremated. An urn holding his ashes is deposited in a memorial display cabinet at the North Pacifica Mausoleum section of Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, California

Quintessential Bond, allegedly ‘too aggressive’ for Brocolli. Seems a good guy as well as a good actor, no rumours about his sexuality or decency other than normal. Lot of time for him, interesting history on Wikipedia. Certainly one of my favourites, underachieved in relation to his potential I suppose. Wonderful Bodie.
