- Drew Gill, Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour angler is a class act. Drew is the ultimate sportsman by leaving the MLF5 Invitationals and allowing other anglers the opportunity to compete at the highest level instead of him getting spot which he already has. Drew Gill is doing something that most angler won't or couldn't do and it's exceptional at this level of angler.

Drew Gill is definitely a class act. It was great to hear a really positive story in professional bass fishing.
That's exactly what I was thinking. I read it this morning when I woke up, went to watch my boy swim practice and thought, finally a good story in the industry. Cheers and tight lines!!
The sport needs more Drew Gills!
I agree!! A lot more!! Cheers and tight lines!!
Well Drew just became my favorite angler that’s for sure! What a stand up guy he is for real.
Mine too. Cheers and tight lines!!
It didn't take me long after Drew hit the BPT to be a fan. I have watched him on Matt Beckers channel for the pre-tournament breakdown and it became obvious he was the breath of fresh air that professional fishing was in need of. Now we all know.
Thanks for highlighting him on your channel.
I think we need more of this, but it doesn't happen unfortunately. Tough business to be in for professional anglers, as you well know. Cheers and tight lines!!
Now that's a TRUE SPORTMAN!!! And he's only starting his journey!!
Agreed!! Cheers and tight lines!!
Class act. Very intelligent young man and very good angler. I think he has a long career in professional bass fishing.
I hope so. This was a cool thing to do. Cheers and tight lines!!
I met him at Redcrest. You forget he is only 21 or 22. He is a class act. I like to think it's his midwest upbringing. He could have been the youngest to reach a million in winnings. I cant wait to see where his career takes him. I appreciate you bringing this to light.
Thanks for the insight! I think there are to many narcissists in this industry, and I think you kinda have to be for professional tournament bass fishing. But this is next level to me. Cheers and tight lines!!
Hats off to Drew Gill!
For sure, amazing angler. Cheers and tight lines!!
He's a class act!! I hope his sponsors see it this way too. He's now one of my favorites too
Yeah, his sponsors need to know we like these kinds of things. Cheers and tight lines!!
Drew is a hammer 🔨 and very professional. More of what we need in the sport and get rid of the cocky arrogant Wheelers.
Couldn't agree more. Cheers and tight lines!!
I’ve already been a fan of Drew Gill. He hangs out with Becker, and Matt Stefan. Those are my guys. 😂
It’s definitely awesome he did that.
I don't know much about him, but this was a class act. Respect that more than anything. Cheers and tight lines!!
I think Drew is crazy smart. He’s probably got another agenda aside from “giving a new guy a shot”. There’s a lot of benefits for a rising star like him with one less of the old guard taking top sponsor dollars, possibly even minimizes the amount of anti ffs noise coming in from guys who are gonna take up that spot if he double qualifies. He’s a chess player and he’s sharp as they come. Nice move Mr. Gill! 💪
There might be, but I like what he did. Thanks for the comment!! Cheers and tight lines!!
Nice move Drew!
Agreed!! Cheers and tight lines!!
This makes him a champion with out even winning a championship.Great guy
This young man has a bright future. Cheers and tight lines!!
I agree, Drew is quite a sportsman.
Amazing angler. Cheers and tight lines!!
Drew’s already in the bpt he wouldn’t be taking a spot from anybody in the invitationals? They go down the list
He's in but you can't predict the future. He would have probably double qualified, but doing it before the end of the season says something about this young man. Cheers and tight lines!!
Finally, some positive , Thank You Drew Gill !
We don't get much these days. We need more things like this. Cheers and tight lines!!
100%👍For Drew! Just made Wheeler look real good!😂
Yes!! Cheers and tight lines!!
Yo Miliken and Wheeler….y’all see this. Be more like Drew.
WELL SAID!!! There's a bunch of anglers and people who could learn from this. Cheers and tight lines!!
TX, was Miliken ever in a position to do this? Or do you just not like Ben?
Not looking for a keyboard war. I just have a question or three. I realize you just asked Milliken and Wheeler to be more like Drew. I agree with that EXCEPT I’d say “Let’s ALL be more like Drew in our lives.” Besides, does what Drew did even relate to what the other two have done? I thought Milliken before he stepped up to the Opens. Wrong? I thought Milliken won an open and that let him move up to the trail. Wrong again? Didn't Wheeler earn his way all the way to where he is? Lastly, other than competing well, what has either guy done to prevent someone else from stepping up? I'm not defending Milliken or Wheeler, though I do find many likable and admirable qualities in both. They are big boys and don't need my help. That being said, both have done things that I find objectionable. Milliken goes overboard in promoting himself and is too foul-mouthed for a “professional” with countless kids among his supporters and watchers. Wheeler’s handling of his encroachment an another pro was wrong. These are just personal opinions but they point out a fact: single actions rarely define an individual. We are the accumulation of our behaviors. Clearly Drew’s decision is commendable and well worthy of praise. But so are many, many things that Milliken and Wheeler have done. So why paint either with a broadbrush here, especially if Drew’s decision is NOT one either one could have or should have made.
Exactly! Those 2 guys give all pro fisherman a bad name. Not to mention all the talk about Milliken being gay.
@@terryjohnson666 Well said. I don't know if you were commenting to me, but I respect your opinion. They both have never been in this situation, maybe slightly Wheeler, but Milliken for sure no. I think Drew is exceptional with this decision. Cheers and awesome take Terry!! Much respect.
I could be wrong but I believe he is a rookie on the BPT. So if he falls out of the top 10 in AOY this year on BPT he could get cut with the new rules this year. Is that correct? If so I really hope this doesn’t come back to haunt him. Seems like a great kid.
You’re right but I don’t think he’s in jeopardy but let’s hope. Cheers!!
Super cool about this 😊
This is a really cool thing. Cheers and tight lines!!
My question would be how do you know that was Drew’s intent? If you are correct about knowing that is a fact then I think that is very commendable. Maybe there are things in play here besides who ever that effects. It definitely sounds like a heart warming story.
I understand your side completely, and I could be wrong. I just want it to be right because of all the crap that happens these days in professional fishing. Cheers and tight lines!!
Mlf formats are so confusing I couldn't tell you the difference between a bfl and an invitional and which one is ranked higher
LOL dude I enjoy seeing your comments!! I'm here at any time if I can ever help you. Cheers!!
@@GetUrFishOn I'm a BASS guy. The Elites are top dog, the Opens are the path to the Elites. What is the pecking order for MLF?
He is a good guy! & Something tells me he would still be a good angler if they ever banned FFS!
Lets hope..... I don't think FFS is going anywhere, but I have been wrong in the past.....and the future....LOL Cheers and thanks for the comment.
That's about 30 seconds worth of information stretched out to 4 1/2 minutes.
Okay thank you!! Cheers and tight lines!!
Even though I’m not a fan of scopers, this act totally deserves respect!
Agreed!! Cheers and tight lines!!
3 times the man that Jake Wheeler will ever be.
Drew really stepped up as a man here in my book. Cheers and tight lines!!
Idk what to say so here's a comment to boost the algorithm lol
Thank you. I don't know if the comment helps, watching the whole video does help I know that. But again thank you. I enjoy your comments. Cheers and tight lines!!
Can I make one critique of the video and other videos? I watch on occasions but it is extremely hard sometimes. There were somewhere around 68 cuts/splices/edits in a 4 minute video. Decided I would try and count today. We all are human and make mistakes, but I’d personally rather watch a few seconds or minute longer video in a take with the mistakes than all the splices. You have plenty of views, so maybe I’m the only one. Just my 2 cents
Tim you are not the only one. It isn't the mistakes that I make but sometimes its the breathing gaps. And I don't mind the crticism.... so this video would was 8-9 minutes without edits.... just guessing here. After I do the clipouts it is faster and shorter and I think 'most' people like the shorter videos. I'll do one without and tell me what you think. And be honest about my breathes. You will not hurt my feelings. I have two-three already done, but check it out and be honest. Cheers!!
Thank you for making this known. Hopefully Karma will do its thing!
Thanks for being here. Cheers and tight lines!!
Probably was double qualified so he didn’t need to fish it and won’t hurt him.
He probably would have double qualified, but still a cool thing to do. Cheers and tight lines!!
I'm probably the only one who thinks this is a mistake, and I don't even really care for Drew Gill, these younger guys, and FFS that is allowing them to win. If they change FFS rules, then most of these guys are done for. But I'll tell you being nice doesn't account for the sport. It's like that QB that is ready to get the passing yardage record, and he says no, I'll just sit out the rest of the season because Joe Blow deserves to retain the record. He may never get another chance like this year, and he will regret what he does. He will be a distant memory of yeah that one guy that sat out and we never heard from him again.
And you could be correct. One of my favorite and idols is Al Kaline. He was about to beat his idols record and he stopped. I loved that story about him, though it could be wrong. I understand what your saying especially about FFS, but these days in professional fishing, there's more wrong than right. So while I respect your view, I wanna believe he did it for the right reasons, but I could be wrong. Cheers and tight lines!!
Sounds like someone will move up that didn't earn it
They all earn it, but he probably would have double qualified. Cheers and tight lines!!
No it's not..hes already qualified they just go down the list to the next angler
He could double qualify, but the season isn't over, so doing this now says something about his integrity. Respect your take. Cheers and tight lines!!
This is probably not the reason. If he double qualified it goes to the next angler on the list. This is a bs post.
He might have double qualified, but it isn't a given that he stays with BPT. Not sure if this is a bs or just good news, but thanks for the comment and respect your take. Cheers and tight lines!!
Mlf doesn't take the next guy on the list like bass does... Gill double qualifying would have saved a bpt guys spot from getting cut at end of year.
@@jeremywilliams1737 I didn't know this. Cheers and tight lines!!
