There is actually a dialogue with melina at the bonfire in dlc after the saint of the bud boss if you don’t burn the erdtree. Kill the boss and check the bonfire. She is telling that you don’t need messmer’s kindling to burn the shadow tree but first you need to burn the erdtree and you will be able to burn the shadow tree without messmer’s kindling
I just checked, her appearance in the DLC is nothing but a bug, she does not mention Messmer's name, her actual line is "Think not, of the kindling" "I shall see to that" (by kindling, she is referring to sacrificing herself as kindling at the Forge of the Giants not Messmer's Kindling) czcams.com/video/d2FRpV9KrkY/video.htmlsi=qgytfkDMmKyJNklF&t=1055 . And her buggy appearance parameters are documented in a FandomWire article you can search on Google "FandomWire Melina appearance land of shadow". Same with frenzy fire, it says to kill Morgoth, but if you do and go there the golden door will be there, even if you defeat him already. So the real check is dialog with Melina (after defeating him) so she gives you desks to go giants snow location, otherwise she abandon you and you get softlocked
An easier way of doing it is just by going to frenzy flame area then to go into land of shadow or even by becoming frenzy flame and then interacting with her there.
What I wish is that Melina would have been referred if you choose the lord of frenzy flame ending, or some line if you choose to use the unalloyed golden needle to reversed frenzy flame after burning the Erd tree before sacrificing Melina.
All you have to do is be halfway through a quest and need to talk to her at the next race and then travel to the DLC and she can pop up and talk to you. You made it way more harder than needed to be.
I feel like with so many of these bosses we're fighting theyre literally at their lowest point. I love that we get to fight a god and his consort in their prime.
For my dlc prep, I made sure Melina was alive (just doing everything except lighting her on fire at the forge), just in case there was any dialogue from Melina in the dlc. About halfway through, I gave up on her reappearing and I killed her (gotta do what you gotta do for smithing stones)

I played through the dlc and after killing Metyr, Mother of fingers I rested at the site of grace in the boss room and Melina showed up and said the dialogue about how her purpose was given to her by her mother. I wonder if that was intentional or it was a glitch

Tried doing this horseless, glitchless, lvl 1 and not upgrading a weapon, I just beat radahn but the issue is i need white mask varre to move and the only way to move him is to go to the roundtable hold, i refused melina so i guess i have to go with a horse and glitches? Is there a way to take melina to the dlc without glitches? I plan to kill mohg. I think ill need to get to the mohg teleporter in mountaintops instead of the varre item teleporter is the key.

Nope, just gotten beat Mogh & Rahdahn. I'm on like my last playthrough for now & didn't even get to the end & was still able to enter the Realm of Shadows.
@@ezenatiello2017he has to be maidenless in the realm of shadow for Melina to show up. But Melina takes you to the round table hold after you accept her accord, so you can’t be maidenless and go to the hold.

I don't think Radahn is in his prime after having his soul stuffed into his stepbrother's body (probably) unwillingly by another stepbrother.

Morgotts rune blocked the path there and you still can’t get the button prompt to burn the erdtree anyway

You can do a save glitch. You warp there and quit in the middle of the warp then reload
