So happy to grow up in that era.
Same. Turning 49 soon, and I remember this point in time like it was yesterday. This music was the soundtrack to my formative years.
I absolutely love the realistic videos of the 80s and 90s. They didn'tt need all the extra fluff. They stood on their talent alone.
Especially the knowledge of self era...such as KMD amongst others...Public Enemy...
The ability for him to recreate his style just shows how good he was.
He didn't recreate his style because he was good. His brother got killed, he started to abuse drugs and he grew old
@@Jaimito1981 without talent no person would have been able to recreate his style in such genuine way as he sure did, especially after having his brother killed and abusing drugs (and son dead). That's something heavy, not something that helps your creativity. In other hand it would have been f weird to keep doing 90s style all those years lol

I think from 1990 to 1994, i would say it was pure "hip hop". No jewelry, no cars, no material products. Just pure hip hop. As shown here.
It was less about jewels back then and more about African medallions and HBCU sweats. I miss this era so much.
Yessssss.....
93-94 the illest ever... Then it came back for an encore in 97-98
The trio made 2 albums from 1999 to 2000
What are you talking about? That statement proves you are not from that time. Plenty of music and videos with all of those things you said in it.
I think 87-92 is my favorite rap period
Just came across MF DOOM yesterday from a music sample by rap artist compilation. Had no idea he was originally from "KMD.'' Peachfuzz video was the reason I bought the cassette album back in Spring '91. Yrs. later I came across their album "Black Bastards" in late '00's. Has no idea Doom's brother had passed away tragically till I read the groups bio on Wikipedia. RIP to Dumile bros.

Hope you dig deeper into DOOM’s discog, somehow still fresh to me even after playing his lps front to back for over a decade. Cant believe I was sleeping on KMD for so long Black Bastards is hot all the way through. A GOAT

These rhyme flow patterns, killing all rappers 2000 and above with love.
You realize 2000 and above was DOOM's prime, right?
@@TheNinja94a He is referring to other rappers than Doom then
Just pure ignorance. DOOM isn’t the only rapper with killer rhyme schemes and that didn’t all just die in 2000, you clearly just stopped paying attention. I could name 20 rappers with comparable rhyme schemes that came out after 2000 🤦♂️
I was also thinking that.
The way that they rhymed back then was so poetical and technical, and they flowed very well with the beat. I also like the visuals that they used to paint pictures with their rhymes.
It was the little things and intricate details that made MCs like them so special back then.
@@TheNinja94a No. Dooms prime was 1990 with his group KMD. He was like 20 back then, rhyming fast and clear. To you, Doom prime was 2000, but to us, that was a gimmick. Doom slowed his rap down, so white kids can understand, his words were slightly mumbled as Doom. He was already about 30 years as Doom. Yes, even rappers have primes, but his Doom version bodies any mumble rapper today, the KMD version, it's a rap massacre of any rapper you hear today. Today's rap is nada
