@@adjoolieit's more like those big teams put on shitty performances than Brighton playing better . Brighton is just a regular mid table side who play captivating possession football and everyone thinks they're special
Emery is a very good and experienced coach, and the break is one of his best weapons, the team is also perfect for the counterattack style with many strong and fast players physically. Coincidentally De Zerbi (like Guardiola) suffers from counterattacks. Matches like this (and the City’s against Wolves) are predictable, De Zerbi was right to take his responsibilities, instead of blaming the individual mistakes of his players, but will continue to do well in Premier, because De Zerbi’s style is perfect against teams that press so much and all the top teams in Premier press so much.
Ya this is why Brighton lose to teams like West Ham, Everton, Villa or Forrest who either don't press at all or don't press higher. It's funny because whenever Brighton lose to these teams, people say they might start underperforming but then they beat a top team right after. This happened so many times last year. I would have thought Villa will press higher but they aren't playing such a high line like they did vs Newcastle where they got pummeled. Some fans/pundits haven't realized that this Brighton playstyle actually works better vs top teams that press. The issue is that if you are a Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City you can't let Brighton come at your home and play with the ball you will get booed. So most of the time they will press alot higher at home than away. Incidently Brighton actually had a better away record under De Zerbi than at home. The moment you see the opposing team strikers press Jason Steele or Bart Verbuggen you know it's a good game for Brighton. If you are pressing that high they will play through you. Perfect example of this is the games vs Arsenal/Man City last month of last season.
We move. Everyone from RDZ to the last player probably did pretty much everything wrong they could today but you know what, it’s just one missed week. We get our points next time. Up the albion❤
Villa was amazing Unlucky with 2 deflections Another unlucky with 2 decisions that could be an offside and a foul I saw still a great spirit from you guys, just move on and bounce back, I'll be always cheering you lads
It was hard to watch the game..De Zerbi needs to solve midfielders and defenders problems..too many errors from those positions..I hope Brighton gonna win next match..
Arsenal had a goal disallowed for Nketiah walking back from an offside position yet here there is a Villa player obstructing the keeper's line of vision and nothing. They really need to be consistent
whats wrong with estupignan? Mitoma always free and hes not giving it to Mitoma whatsoever. I'm an Arsenal fan but seeing Brighton getting brutally wrecked by Villa break my heart
Con el juego que practica el Brigthon de tu a tu con todos, puede salir muy bien o como en este caso muy mal pero sigue siendo el club que mejor juego hace.
1:58 DF is terrible, but so is the midfield defense. DUNK is the only one who is back at full speed, and the other DF and MF are jogging even though they are in a pinch. If they had returned at full speed, the result might have been different. It's a shame that there are so many similar scenes.
Honestly maybe a good thing for Brighton, losing against a poor Chelsea team then 6 1 to villa. Fans, players and even de zerbi were starting to get way too annoyingly arrogant
Without detracting from AVL's quality, it's important to bear in mind that RDZ's strategy is extremely risky. An example in point is the 3 half-time substitutions (Estupinan->Lamptey and Ferguson/Welbeck->Fati/JP) - no defensive mindset there, if anything, full on attack. This strategy magnifies successes but also failures. At the start of 2022/23 season, if the Albion were offered say 50-60% win rate out of 38 matches, we'd unhesitatingly take that offer. Now, having seen how much stronger we are, we are (rightly) demanding more. But in doing so, we have to appreciate improvement gets incrementally harder, takes longer, and becomes less noticeable as you get higher and higher. My biggest concern for the Albion is how we learn to win/draw consistently after conceding the first goal (and assuming our opponent then adopts a low block/counter strategy). But I have faith. UTA.
The fans have set ridiculous expectations for this club . Brighton is good but unfortunately not as good as they think they are . Shipping goals left and right . Having posession and passing around the ball with nothing to show for . Football isnt all about aesthetics.
Clubs need to ignore their fans more, and take the game back to what it used to be about: the money, and the joy of being paid to kick a ball. Fans are ruining what used to be a beautiful sport, especilly the dirty yobs that think they matter. I would love to see some empty stadium games, like the throwback nights with the old jerseys.
This is where they miss midfielder like Caicedo. There's not a single ball winning midfielder in this team and that will haunt them against high press and counterattacking teams.
Genoa also just beat Roma 4-1 this weekend, which was about as massive of a surprise as this result. Also, there are weak teams in the Prem, like Luton Town, Everton, Burnley, Bournemouth etc There's fewer of them than in Italy, Spain or Germany because there's far more money in the EPL, but the difference between it and the rest of the top 5 leagues is far smaller than people make it out to be. AEK Athens winning in Brighton, Legia Warsaw beating Aston Villa, or Dinamo Zagreb beating Tottenham and Chelsea and Istanbul Basakshehir beating United in the UCL group stages a couple years ago shows that even in the far poorer leagues of Eastern Europe, (like Greece, Turkey, Poland etc) the top teams are better than many in the bottom half of the Prem... PL exceptionalism is a lie only people who don't watch other top European leagues believe!

2nd goal was offside and 3rd was a foul on march. Different game if it’s only 1-0 at half time. I think van hecke or igor should start ahead of Webster, he isn’t strong enough to deal with these physical strikers. Verbruggen also needs to be our no.1, Steele is great with his feet but not so good at shot stopping.
Wouldn’t make any difference whenever you boys come to Villa Park 😂 you’ve got a worser record against us than Crystal Palace have & they’ve only ever won here three times in their history 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, we were fortunate at times, and i would say Fati's goal was offside also. However, fortune favours the bold. You were awful and would have been soundly beaten anyway
