- We designed and built this house 4 years ago.
Let me show you my favorite room in the house.
It’s the garage- and it’s massive.
We made it deep enough to fit motorcycles, mowers, or even a full-sized vehicle at the front while leaving room to park other vehicles behind.
Our garage doors are CHI full-view aluminum glass doors.
They’re tinted on the outside but let tons of natural light shine through.
I love having good lighting, especially natural light when I’m working on projects.
At night-time, these three 8-foot LED strip lights do the job.
I made sure to put lots of receptables around the garage and held them up high so it’s easy to plug stuff in.
Hooks on the wall keep stuff off the floor and out of the way.
This bump out makes a great space for storing larger tools and a push mower.
We planned for there to be no steps between the garage and the house.
We’ve actually just sold this house and we’re going to build a new one.
Be sure (to subscribe) (to follow) if you want to see the entire process from start to finish and leave a comment, what part of the build do you want to see? @hausplans

If this house was located in Southern Maryland, these garage doors would be called “Window Shopping” by felons
Or any major suburban .crime pay for those who steal and cost for those that don’t
Yeah with that crime rate in USA nowadays blinders are must have
Good thing it’s not then
I absolutely love your ideas regarding your garage. So much so that I’m like jealous. Wish I had a garage half as incredible as yours. Thank you for sharing. Sincerely, Mark
Thanks 😊
@@hausplansThank you. For showing what's possible. Great videos.
Thus when you have a thoughtful and knowledgeable builder.
👍
@@hausplansY would u leave an awesome House and Garage?
Beautiful garage. I have a similar space but couldn't make it as open to the outside because the family had plans for a home gym
Dang, my type of garage! I’m interested in seeing the foundation work and that flush transition to house if you do that again.
We’re definitely doing no step between the garage and house on the next one. Be glad to show the process.😂
It's against building regulations to fo this in the UK. The garage has to step down to contain a potential fuel leak.
@@hausplansNotification when you do build your 19th new home?
Would have been nice to see some LED lights in the garage
The strip lights in the video look like fluorescents, but they are LEDs 👍
You are one smart contractor... Keep up the good work. Thx
I appreciate that!
That is definitely a dream garage!
👍
My garage had one out let in it. Way to think outside off the box. And then probably made a huge bounds room above it as well.
The crazy thing is outlets are not that expensive to add, not sure why people are so cheap with them. Yes, there will be a bonus room above.
@@hausplansDang! Wishin you'd lived up in the New England area. Would like to see how you would design and build to the frigid cold winters with increasing winds and heavy wind blown rains. Of course adding full coverage rooftop solar panels hooked up to 3 Tesla Powerwalls for backups and charging up all the electric tools and vehicles. I get bored sitting around making dog houses and honey-do lists.
I don't know if the see through doors are a good idea, but the rest is pretty good.
I'd definitely recommend getting more lights for the next shop. Even in the video those 3 lights looked like they might be a little less than what you need. Maybe have a few different options for which ones are on when. For instance, if you're working on a car in bay 1, then you probably don't need anything on in bays 2 and 3. And having some 4ft lights over the workbench itself would give you a lot of good light there, and let you work there without wasting electricity lighting the whole place.
I couldn't tell, but the ceilings seem a little short. I'd definitely recommend 10ft, or more, so woodworkers and tradespeople don't have to worry about boards or pipes or whatever not fitting.
All good points, thanks for watching👍
Switch to jackshaft openers. So much nicer to have the overhead space available, installation is quicker, they’re quieter, and lower maintenance. Installed 4 across our homes myself.
Nice, I just put these in my shop and I really do like them
Jackshaft? Who makes them?
Bigger kitchen with a nice grill top and bigger TV room..
I don’t care where I live but I would lose sleep knowing all my tools can be seen from the sidewalk
Oh yeah.
These aren’t ghetto neighborhoods lol. It’s more than likely gated
Great job.
Thanks!
You never realize the little things that would make life just that much easier and more satisfying, like the no steps between the garage and the house. I need that.
So true!
Garage level into the house is against code in my area. The idea is heavier than air fumes cannot get into the house.
This used to be the code, but it was changed in our area to allow for disabled and older people to get in and out of their homes easier. I still sloped the floor towards the doors.
A garage with some nice light. One in a billion
👍
I love you doggy
Thanks
Code requires a floor differential between garages and living areas, unless the floor provides proper pitch away from the habitable space. Keep the gas out.
That code changed a few years ago in our area. I was told it was to allow disabled people to easily get from the garage into the house. We did slope the floor towards the garage doors.
Bathrooms showers 😃
"You are using a Masterlift garage lifter, it can be opened with a Masterlift garage lifter"
how does my about to collapse garage have the same door opener keypad as that absolutely beautiful garage??
I love your garage. The only thing it would make it any better is if you had a 2 ton Overhead lift
That would be nice
Would Like to see the Hole House 🏠 & Price as well..
Awesome! Hopefully we can include a bunch of the pricing as we go along. Thanks so much for watching!
You can have anything you want, if you have money.
A lot of things, but not anything
You need some proslat wall board in your next build.
Good idea 👍
in my dream garaj
The garage floor elevation should be a minimum of 2 inches below the entry floor level. This is too contain gases and fumes from entering the house. Check your local planning and regulations...
That code changed several years back in my area. The main reason it was changed is to help with disabled people and elderly people getting from the garage into their house. We still sloped the concrete floor towards the doors.
Only one row of lights? So when you're working on your car and the hood is open, you cant see anything...
A three car garage is always better. You just made it deeper. That’s it.
Yup👍
Look at all my stuff.👍
Actually the motorcycles my sons, but I did steal it and take it for a ride today
@@hausplans i don't meen to be rude my comment, reading it now came off that way. Iv always wanted doors like that but the way the world is I could never actually have doors like that and not just from the bad people, the mower would be my first big fear
I gotcha👍 The tinting does help people from seeing in a bit
Nice size of the garage 35x44 ?
How much u make bro ?
How do you get that tinted film?
We ordered it that way
What do you mean we want to see all of it being built
The entire house from start to finish
where does everyone live in the comments like downtown minneapolis. yall never lived in a nice place before than
1000%
👍👍
What are the dimensions? I'm in the design phase of an external garage, with an office above, and that looks exactly what I want to shoot for.
24’x34’
@@hausplans thanks!
👍
I would go maybe go a footer so deeper if I had to do again. Like 25’ or 26. Especially if you have a four-door pick up with an 8 foot bed.
Two many windows... I like light but not people looking in my shit. Or neighbors seeing what I'm up too all the time...
They make these things called blinds that do an amazing job of keeping people from looking inside.
Is this what’s in the box channels garage
Not sure I understand?
My 4 years daughter has more tools and junk, sure makes easy for neighbors to window shop, front, back, side.....
Because the guy is a jeep owner we all understand certain cognitive defects exist.
It looks good but man you’re advertising all your stuff in the garage
Who cares
But I want you to show me the the house that the garage I'm already cleaned the garage the garage and beautiful❤❤❤😊😊
👍
That garage door looks expensive
They’re actually not that bad
Live and work in Central Maine for a garage door company our supplier is CHI do make good products I enjoy installing there products. Looks good boss!!
Mid
Glass garage door? Don’t store any valuable in there.
No different than windows
That’s why my garage has neither.
