  • This video is about Dynamic Accumulators. Dynamic accumulators are those plants that are thought to gather more nutrient(s) than other plants. For example, dandelions are supposed gather more calcium than other plants. People often assume that this is due to the taproot. The focus is on whether or not the extra nutrients are gathered by the deep roots (often thought to be taproots) or the more shallow, but more extensive, root system. For more on this see the chapter devoted to this concept in my book Understanding Roots. www.robertkouri... (Photography by the lovely Betsy Timm.)

Great information, since moving in the direction of permaculture I have a new found love and respect for the so called "weed."
I was out in the yard, and I realized that the only thing edible in my yard was a dandelion.
I have since started using red clover and Chicory as a green manure to push grass and weeds out and to naturally fertilize. I've planted everything I can get my hands on to create biodiversity; fruit trees, berry bushes, nut trees and nitrogen accumulators. The biggest effect was letting my fence-line go feral...my bird population is up 100 fold.
Simply amazing how the earth will move in a direction to repair itself.

I understand what you're trying to say but this isn't really about dynamic accumulators
