This part of the dentin bonding agent series outlines the chronological classification of DBA simultaneously explaining the generations from first to eighth, enlisting the advantages and disadvantages of each generation. Moreover, this video also explains the total etch technique, hybrid layer and the concept of wet bonding.

      Use of a dentin conditioner aids in cleansing and etching dentin. The concept of enamel and dentin etching lead to the advent of third generation DBA. Dentin etching was not done in first and second generation DBA where adhesion was basically to the smear layer thus leading to a weaker bond strength.
