    I'm pretty sure there is an entire fandom for raspy growly voice V. YOU SHOULD REACT TO BOY IN LUV!!! And a live version too because V's growls are next level. They literally kill me but also give me life; it's messed up. Hahaha!!! Younger BTS was very different from now since they were originally a hiphop group (I know you know that), but it's amazing to me to see how much they can do and how much they have done. BTS is so versatile.

  • @carlagirl7

    Fun Fact: When BTS did American Hustle Life (AHL), they did a remake of their mv "Boy In Luv - LA Version". After scouting for girls (on Hollywood Blvd) to be in the video, only three showed up: Christina, Victoria and Jewel(RIP). (The girls who rejected them...where are they now!🤣) Anyway, BTS was sooooo shy with these three and they explained why in the behind the scenes.
    I think...(in BTS true fashion) they pulled off a great video even though we know how shy they were with these ladies. They were recording "Dark and Wild" at the same time as filming AHL and channeled everything about their experience with Christina, Victoria and Jewel into writing the song "War of Hormones" (WOH). We all know they got into trouble from feminist as a result (mainly because of the lyrics) and they no longer perform the song WOH....But at least for me I LOVE THE VIDEO, THE SONG and it will always be my favorite.
    ONE MORE THING....
    In order for there to be objectification, there has to be a victim.....
    Half way through the video, the girl is gone...........until the very end.
    IF people watch this video til the end, you will see that the GIRL TAKES CONTROL and SHE DECIDES WHO SHE WANTS....(Choosing Tae). NO "victim" FOLLOWS seven guys into an isolated dark gymnasium.....The girl had the power the ENTIRE time she was being pursued by them. I love that BTS did that, gave power to the girl!!!
    But nonetheless, the message got overlooked and people stilled complained. (Seriously, this song is so innocent compared to some of the music today.)

    • @leeswhimsy
      @leeswhimsy Před 2 lety +7

      The message definitely got overlooked....I have ZERO problem with this song (and I'm over 60)...never understood why anyone does. First, it is what it says....boys dealing with their hormones. And I don't know if you've noticed, but teen boys' hormones are no joke (I'm the mother of a boy) Second, if anyone really listens to the lyrics of the whole song, there's nothing misogynistic about it. I have a feeling that at the time they released this people were just looking for something to drag them over.

      I find it really hypocritical that ppl say that BTS are objectifying women in this song when the entire world go crazy over jk or jimin showing their abs. • @MariaChavez-ey5sr
    @MariaChavez-ey5sr Před 2 lety +27

    This song is such a damn bop it’s a pity for the backlash. I feel it’s a pretty honest look at how teen boys think and yes it objectifies women a bit but it isn’t equal to the responses it got. Also V in this video makes me laugh so much he is in full crackhead mode the whole time. In the dance practice too he’s just going crazy funny. I feel like moderately bad feminist because I love the song and mv but so it goes. Teen boys fight a war of their hormones pretending they don’t seems dishonest and to their credit BTS and RM held themselves to such high standards afterwards.

    I've always treated this song like one sung from a pov of a hormonal awkward teenage boy who's in awe of the girls but just can't express himself lol 😁 you can't take a song seriously if it has a line about popping pimples 🤣 one mistranslation and overall hate towards them for everything and here we go, years later this song is not performed anywhere anymore, sigh. At that time there were boy groups who sang abt putting women on leashes like dogs and a girl group who sang about their ,I kid you not, warm holes 🤦‍♀️ nobody cared! But bangtan became the scapegoat...well, woh is on my playlist forever 💜

  • @loredell
    @loredell Před 2 lety +1

    I love Joon's lines about the see through being natural lasik X_D
    Not gonna comment abt the COMPLETELY UNDESERVED backlash. Because yeah, I agree with probably everyone here: it is a story about boys growing up and their battle with hormones, who want them to be just the animals we are, but they actually REFUSE to give the power to their hormones and praise women (yeah, physically, but that's not wrong to do, it is wrong to bully and bother someone on the street about it, touch somebody on the bus... but not saying "your body is like a sculpture", come on! esp with nobody as object of the sentence)
    PS. The sentence that triggers people is a TRANSLATED one about "doing women" "as equations"... They don't even have 2 neurons to infer "oh, women are complicated and are difficult to comprehend them unless we start clearing this equation" -- they (men/boys) are saying they are putting in the work bc they are a bit clumsy but they want to get to understand women/girls.

    They took a ton of flack for this song and some claimed it was misogynistic. I don't see that at all....it's just describing teen guys (which they were at the time with maybe the exception of Jin) with raging hormones. I personally love the song and the video and yes the dance practice is great too.....big crackhead energy. Actually there is the Halloween dance practice and the "real war" version (my favourite). After the backlash they apologized for the lyrics and wrote 21st Century Girl as an apology to ARMY who were offended. They rarely performed it again after that. RM was really hurt and upset by the backlash and said that from that time on he ran all his lyrics by a professor of Women's Studies to make sure they wouldn't be offensive.

      @@user-do3ps1qs4r I guess its all a matter of perception. You could considered any happy couple as "gifts" to each other and to me it doesn't imply "ownership" or anything like that..just blessings. In my opinion, I think BTS received unfair backlash regarding this song. They were depicting the natural battles we as men and women face with our hormones when we have a crush or are in love with the opposite sex. That's why JK's lyrics ask repeatedly, "Because of who?" and the other members respond by saying, "Because of women!, "because of hormones!, "because of men!" Also, the definition of misogynistic is "Strongly prejudiced against women." As a woman, I didn't see or hear any prejudice against women or to the actress. Instead, they say "Women are the best gift, gift!", "You are great back and front, you are great from head to toe!' What women doesn't like to be told by the guy she likes that she is the best gift and that she looks great in every way!
    As someone else commented earlier in this channel, the woman/actress had all the power and choice, she was not the victim. She had control because when J-Hope (Hobi) open the car door and sang "lady first!' She turned him down because she was not interested in him. Just like men and women everyday around the world turn down people we are not romantically interested in. In the end, she chose the one she wanted which was V (Tae-Hyung).
    For some people who thinks that this is misogynistic, I would say compare this song to many of the songs from American artist and rappers. They straight out talk down to women by calling them bitches and/or whores, and many of their videos show women either in bikinis or very revealing outfits being used as sexual objects.
    She always had control because in V's lyrics, they ask "Tell me what you want right now?" "Imma give it to you right now!" That lyric could mean anything that she wants, that makes her happy! I don't think they were suggesting anything sexual with those lyrics. My reason for that is these 7 guys are humble and they were shy around girls when they were young. I think she always had the power and control because they ask her what does she want, what will make her happy. If we are truly honest to ourselves, if you are single and not involved in a relationship. Then, would you reject the person that you love/like when he/she says you are the best gift and they ask you what you want. I am married and when my husband says I look great, of course I love it!

    I'm female and never felt the least bit offended by this song when you compare it to the downright degrading garbage that comes out of the western music scene. For the most part, they were young boys/men and were going through this awkward stage between child and adult which fit into the earlier themes of their album(s). It's a shame that they got so much backlash over it but antis were doing everything they could to drag BTS down. On the other hand they grew as artists who are more careful in regards to their music so it's not an entirely bad thing either. We should learn from our mistakes, intentional or not, and work toward not repeating them in the future.
