    Love this!! If you’re making a series, how about various terms used for attack names? Towers, meteors, exoflares, limit cut, hot wings, etc … took me forever to learn some of these (and tbh I’m still not sure I know exoflare 🙃)

    As a raider for 7 years, this guide is really good. Though some trivia is in order - the 2 minute window and the kitchen sink are terms that are fairly new relatively. I haven't heard them until Shadowbringers/Endwalker. Before in regards to 2 minutes, we simply referred to them as "buff windows" as before we had 90 second cooldowns, 60 seconds, 2 minutes and it's been a while but I believe there was some 3 minute cds. It wasn't until the raiding scene was simplified and buffs all now fall on the one minute marker with 2 minutes being the big buff window while 1 minutes being the personal buff window. Kitchen sink wasn't really a term as it wasn't necessary in any fights and if in case you did, you are probably going to need a swap because something went wrong. It's always good to keep your miti rolling because autos hurt like a truck and the busters even more so. Now sinking it isn't nearly an issue because of things like bloodwhetting, TBN, and the pld/gnb equivalents of them. Sophia Unreal was a good example of this because she would cast a buster like every 30-60 seconds which isn't that bad, but you have realistically only 3 cooldowns you use in conjunction with your short cd because the buster hurt like hell and yes, it was common to solo tank it as the vuln up from the buster isn't an insta die. *Back in my day our cooldowns had a 90 second cooldown minimum so if you fat fingered one, good luck.*

    Kitchen Sinking is something I have had to do when I get picked for a TB as a DPS or healer and hope for the best

    • @iPlayOnSpica
      @iPlayOnSpica Před 7 měsíci

      Also in a dungeon if the tank dies and you're a dps. You need to use what little self-healing and mits your job has, and depending on situation, I may start single-targeting to kill individual enemies earlier and further reduce incoming damage or even kite.

  • @kwoonie3840
    @kwoonie3840 Před 11 měsíci +4

    Kitchen Sinking refers to the phrase "everything but the kitchen sink." Just literally everything you can possibly imagine without being unrealistic. Later evolution of the phrase just includes the kitchen sink for hyperbole. Less imagining putting things into a sink, more imagining grabbing a group of things from your kitchen but not the sink, that'd be silly, its built into the counter and piped into the wall. Great video as always! I share your stuff to my fc/more casual friends to help mitigate some headaches when I run them through stuff we can't just brute force with ilvl and combat rezzes.

    Also with max melee, it also affects your Autos, (Tanks and Melee Dps) you will stop autoing the target at max melee, but you're able to use abilities still, so only really go max melee if a mechanic requires it, as autos still matter

  • @Crowens
    @Crowens Před 11 měsíci +3

    A lot of these make sense, the ones I hate are like dynamo and chariot because they communicate nothing about the AOE. I thought chariot was the donut AOE cause maybe that's the general shape a chariot does if it spun around and hit everything on its side, it'd leave a hole open in the middle where it can't hit due to how it would turn... but nope that's not it, that's a dynamo, chariot is the standard circle AOE around boss.

    • @AzuriteTV
      @AzuriteTV  Před 11 měsíci +2

      I agree, a lot of them do make sense, which is why I put that in the description! And also about Dynamo and Chariot, I plan to make a video about these terms as well! Because there's a lot... Limit cut and Proteans... and much more

    • @DantoriusD
      @DantoriusD Před 11 měsíci +1

      Most of these Terms are named after the First Mechanic they Appeared. For Dynamo/Chariot its from Nail in Turn 9 of Coils of Bahamut. Lunar Dynamo and Iron Chariot iirc. These are often reffered as "Out" and "Donut".
      Same goes btw for Limit Cut. Cruise Chaser in The Alexander Raids was the First Encounter that introduces this Numbers with the Attack "Limit Cut" after that every Mechanic with that numbers is just called Limit Cut.

  • @Luna________

    • @AzuriteTV
      @AzuriteTV  Před 11 měsíci

      Drifting is a weird boomer term, idc what you say... You could just say miss aligning lmao
      Either way, its in the description that these aren't all boomer terms.

    • @Luna________
      @Luna________ Před 11 měsíci +2

      @@AzuriteTV No drifting and miss aligning is just not the same thing, A little bit of drifting won't cause miss alignment and you can miss align without drifting at all (using shadowbringer on cooldown and not hold it for 2 minutes for example) and it's also not excluse to buffs and drifting can happen both ways like paladins goring blade reverse drifting with skill speed

    • @AzuriteTV
      @AzuriteTV  Před 11 měsíci +3

      @Luna________ fair point. But this video is mostly aimed towards new players and for people who haven't played an MMORPG may not have any idea what GCD means when the game refers to them as weapon skills and spells. I have first hand experience with this as people comment on my guide video asking me what things like GCD means.

  • @zenfrodo
    @zenfrodo Před 11 měsíci +1

    There probably needs to be a guide to the terms that aren't battle/fight related, but that folks will see anyway. Every MMO has its own slang, after all, stuff like
    Bio/bio break: a break for toilet, getting drinks/snacks, other biological needs. My small group of WoW refugees (who came over shortly after ARR released) used these and confused the heck out of FFXIV friends. I've seen it getting used a lot more since the big WoW exodus last year.
