  • This is the easiest way to tie a loop knot on a fishing rig. The figure 8 loop knot is fast and works well with a variety of hooks and lures. It can also be used for applications other than fishing - whenever you need a loop or handle on the end of a piece of rope.

    For lures... it's just so much work compared to a simple QD-swivel or an even simpler paper clip ("power clip"). Especially when you factor in having to detach/attach each treble hook.

      I prefer snaps when that's an option, but loop knots have their place. I only took the trebles off to make it easier to see the knot tying. That's not necessary to tie the knot.

      It's hard to beat the ease and convenience of a snap or power clip.

    Never thought about using it for crank baits, but I know it’s crucial for the Kentucky rig/drop shot

      Yes, it's used often with crankbaits that have a wide wobbling action

    Hey Nat, I was wondering whether you could do a video on when to use different rods like float, feeder, deadbait..ect

      I don't have much experience with float rods, feeders, and the like. I do a fair amount of bottom fishing for carp, suckers, sheephead, cats, etc. but I just use spinning and casting rods for that.

    Hey, I appreciate the lesson! Newb question: What types of lures require a loop instead of a "cinched up" knot?

    • @FishingwithNat
      @FishingwithNat  Před 8 měsíci +2

      A "cinched up" knot is also called a "snug knot". No lure *requires* a loop knot, but some people firmly believe that any lure that has a lot of movement like a wide-wobbling crankbait will benefit from being on a loop knot for a better ability to move. A snap can also provide this wide-open connection to give the lure more freedom of movement.
