Fr. Chad Ripperger (exorcists, PhD) stated that you should never name your guardian angel because God has already given them a name and we do not have authority over them. He also says that you should never ask what your guardian angels name is because there is no guarantee that it is your angel who responds.

20 years ago my family and I were at a beautiful water fall cavern when my 8 year old was about to fall in and surely die. I couldn’t reach him but out of no where a young man appeared from no where, grabbed his hand and probably saved his life. After thanking him I hugged my son and when I turned around he was gone. I’m convinced he was a guardian angel. Even if he were not, God had a hand in this! Or the Blessed Mother.

Back in the early 1980''s, my mom drove my two sisters and I from Seattle where we lived to Iowa to visit family. My dad couldn't join us because he had to work. High in a remote section of the Big Horn Mountains, it was cold with swirling gray clouds. The rain was coming down. We arrived upon a stretch of unpaved switchback. It must have been under construction. My mom was a very nervous driver. In the gloom, as we tried to make a turn around one of the hairpin curves, our boat-like '76 Mercury Marquis began to slide in the mud. Slowly, and then more quickly, we were drifting in a gathering river of mud toward the precipice of what looked like a several hundred foot drop off. My mom panicked, grabbing her hair and bursting into tears. Quivering, she commanded the three of us huddled together across the car's back seat bench to start saying Hail Mary's. My dad had insisted that we bring a CB radio with us. She grabbed the CB's microphone and began pleading hysterically into it, "Somebody help us please! We're going to die. " I looked outside and saw no one and no cars anywhere nearby. I was certain we were going to die. My sisters and I began crying and said our Hail Mary's. Then, out of nowhere, a big man in a plaid flannel shirt opened up the driver side door, told my mom to slide over, and drove the car out of the mud and up a few hundred feet to where the pavement resumed. He got out and was gone. As in poof, gone. I'm pretty sure he saved our lives. I
To this day, I have no idea where that guy came from. I don't know where he went. We were in the middle of nowhere. I'm convinced he was one of our guardian angels.

Then out of nowhere someone appeared & grabbed her & slapped her back while holding her half upside down, a piece of candy flew out of her mouth, I never knew she had it. When I turned to thank him, he was gone. I immediately felt it had to be an angel. That was 43 years ago & I think of that moment frequently & with so much gratitude.

@@jimsparkman7819 Wow. Now I am compelled to tell my story which involves a 75 Mercury Marquis. It was 1992 and I was driving from southern California to Santa Cruz for university. The old car was full of my stuff and I was driving on through the Grapevine in LA which is five lanes of traffic and trucks. In an instant I had a blowout on the rear tire. Time slowed down as the Marquis spun out of control across all five lanes. I was expecting one of the trucks behind me to slam into me or any of the other cars as I did two 360's across traffic. The car came to a stop on the side of the freeway facing the other direction. I was shaking fiercely as I got out. Almost instantly a man pulled up on a motorcycle behind me. He asked where my spare was and started changing my tire without even asking. He said that was a close one and I said yes I couldn't believe nobody hit me. He then said well they must have seen me in time and someone was looking out for me. He got the spare on quickly and told me where I could by a new tire. He said be more careful and then rode away. I think he was my guardian angel. I don't remember seeing him behind me when I was driving or passing him (it's a long stretch of separated freeway on a hill with no exits or onramps for miles.

I'm looking forward to seeing him when I am dying. How in the world is it construed to be out of line to give a constant companion a name? When I could still drive He kept me calm. I WOULD ASK HIM TO GET ME SAFELY TO MY DESTINATION AND BACK. Then I could relax and drive. He never let me down. Now that I am old and my favourite activity seems to be misplacing things I ask him to help me to find things like my glasses. He always helps me. Lately he seemed to be sitting back and letting me search for a much longer time before he makes a suggestion to where to look. I told him he had it pretty easy since I quit driving so he shouldn't be stingy about helping me find my glasses etc. He seems to agree with me. Now He even helps me before I ask him.
I enjoy joking with him. I don't see anything wrong with acknowledging his presence and importance in my life. He prays with me and takes my prayers to the feet of Jesus. He's my best friend and the only constant in my daily life.

Padre Pio says you can, and should, find out your Guardian Angel's name. He was and is a great saint. Also, we DO have dominion over angels. 1 Corinthians 6:3. We will judge angels. That's greater than naming. The evil angels have to obey us in the Name of Jesus. Why do we think angels are "over" us? That's what made the evil angels so mad...that God would become human and elevate humans over them. By the way, people and spiritual beings have MORE THAN ONE NAME. It says in Heaven, we will learn the real name of everyone. Isaiah 62:2. It is not wrong to call God, "Abba," which people were doing even before St. Paul told us it was okay, by the way. (St. Paul acknowledges in the New Testament that believers call him "Abba," which is not a name that I saw in the Old Testament for God, but people did it--but the New Testament was not written yet, which said it was "ok." In fact, many Muslims think this is blasphemous.) We gave God a name that we felt fit our relationship, which is like a nickname...it's not saying we have "dominion" over God! It's giving an affectionate nickname. We have so many names for God...

@@chefEmersonWilliams Abba is another, more intimate name for "father", like dad, daddy or papa. It's not a "name", as Paul, Mary or Charles, but an intimate name we would give to someone we dearly love. So our Father in heaven revealed through His holy Word that He likes to be called "Daddy", Abba! Sweet! I often call Father DaddyGod.
After I married my widowed husband, I learned that his dear deceased wife used to lovingly call him "Mops".

I must agree with Scheel... We need to be content in the fact that we merely know that we are appointed our guardian angels.
    1. The angels aren't ours to name.
    2. By attempting to learn, or request, the name of our guardian angel, we are opening up doors for one of Satan's entities to insert and reveal themselves under the guise of our God-appointed angel. This has potential to become disastrous. While it's not wrong per se, it is dangerous, and one would need to tread carefully in this territory.

@Sandra Goss I’m so sorry your friend was unable to be with her father during his last hours - as a nurse though not practising currently that absolutely breaks my heart. I would always go above and beyond for families sitting with a dying relative to the point some colleagues in the ER and ER ward ridiculed me to a degree due to how much I did and how I made a point of knowing what medicines doctors needed to prescribe to keep the patient comfortable.
But your comment has given me pause to something I experienced as a student nurse. I was on placement in the ER and we had a patient come in that we were told by the toxicology experts of the uk that they will not survive and no one in the world had ever survived this.
What really got me as a young student nurse was that everyone of the staff seemed to ignore the fact the patient told us they were Catholic but I didn’t know how to speak up.
I left the shift being told the patient will not make it through the night despite everything the ICU etc were doing for them.
It really bothered me the whole way home that not one staff member bothered to call the on call Priest despite respecting religious beliefs being drilled into us and the hospital always having the contact details for all the different on call religious leaders.
When I got home I ended up bursting into tears and telling my parents and my dad called our Priest asking him if he could go and visit this dying Catholic patient to give them their last rites as their family were still to arrive from another country and all staff believed the patient would die before they could get there.
Miraculously the patient somehow survived and became the first in the world to survive this particular toxin.
But you have me questioning now whether it was my Guardian Angel urging me to intervene on behalf of my patient to get them a Priest to give last rites and give them extra protection from demonic forces during their most vulnerable time

The Bible nowhere instructs believers in Christ to pray to anyone other than God. The Bible nowhere encourages, or even mentions, believers asking individuals in heaven for their prayers. Why, then, do many Catholics pray to Mary and/or saints such as Gertrude, Rita, Sylvester, Vincent, Agnes, etc.? Why do they petition the dead to request their prayers? Catholics view Mary and the saints as “intercessors” before God. They believe that a saint, who is glorified in heaven, has more “direct access” to God than we sinners do from our earthly vantage point. In Catholic thinking, if a saint delivers a prayer to God, it is more effective than our praying to God directly. This concept is blatantly unbiblical. Hebrews 4:16 tells us that we, believers here on earth, have direct access to God and can “approach the throne of grace with confidence.”
No saint can take Jesus’ place: “There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5). There is no one else who can mediate with God for us. Since Jesus is the only mediator, Mary and the saints cannot be mediators. Further, the Bible tells us that Jesus Christ Himself is interceding for us before the Father: “He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them” (Hebrews 7:25). With Jesus Himself interceding for us, why would we need Mary or the saints to intercede for us? Whom would God listen to more readily than His only begotten Son? Romans 8:26-27 says the Holy Spirit is also interceding for us. With the second and third Persons of the Trinity already interceding for us before the Father, why would we need to have Mary or the saints interceding for us?

As a Catholic I ask in prayer Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior, and /or, the Father or the Holy Spirit to help me. Jesus and the Holy Spirit are the only ones who can intercede with the Father for me. They also are the only ones who can hear my prayers as all others do not have the attributes of God, namely omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent to hear them and act on them. If you read sacred scripture, this becomes clear.
One thing you miss is that I am a Catholic who has read and continues to read the Bible as it is the sacred word of God. Vatican II says that Catholic theology is based on Sacred Scripture and Sacred Traditions. Years later, as an adult, my wife’s grandmother re-ignited that awareness in me. I have been praying to my guardian angel to protect me really from myself. South, doubt, fear, ignorance, another things like that can do the most damage. We always have to know that God loves us and because of that those internal troubles should not be what consumes us or defines us. What defines us is having the grace to be above that. And for me, at least, asking for my guardian angel to intercede during those tough times, gives me the courage and strength to overcome them.

I have been taught about angels and have been a Catholic all my life & went to Catholic kindergarten, Catholic grammar school & high school & still I have many questions. Guardian Angels I have heard of and I've read many books with regards to same. I personally think our guardian angels should... okay, lack for better words I think they should have permission from the Father to give us some sort of sign that they're with us if only just once!!! I personally would never forget. I've had serious times where I really needed mine if only just to talk. I've talked to her in my head, but I don't know if she was there or was listening. I mean the biggest thing in my life was I lost my baby girl Angelina (nickname was Angel also). She was beautiful & smart & at 4 months if I put her on the front room floor she would scoot all the way across the room while laughing! Okay, tell me how my child did that at 4 months. I had 5 children altogether & my eldest daughter asked me how did she do that so young Mommy? I told her that the angels were playing with her. Such a look I got. Okay, to sum this up my daughter was taken from me with S.I.D.S Sudden infant death syndrome! She died in 1977 & it's 2023. You do the math! I still miss my baby and cry for her and I pray for her every night and to bless my other children to keep them safe. Why does the Lord test me so much in many different ways. I pray to my Guardian Angel and St. Michael the Archangel to guard my children and to keep Satan away from all of us. St. Michael is the brother of Satan, but loved the God more and when Satan did his most horrible St. Michael the Archangel put his brother Satan back in hell. I pray to him now to put him back into hell and keep him away from me and mine & our country! Many times I think that the medal around my neck of St. Michael guards me from evil & I'm allowed to pray and do the right thing. I still would love to be able to talk to my guardian angel & they could possibly answer me in some way! I prayed so very hard when my daughter died at 4 months old of crib death, but it was God's will for some reason and so I accepted my fate. I just wish my eldest daughter didn't take it so very hard. My heart went out to her. Just show me you are their if only one time I pray. One time when most needed.

My Mother miscarried one sibling while we were at school. Before she passed out she literally crawled on the floor baptizing every clot she had lost, hoping to save her baby. I know he/she is in heaven.
My siblings in heaven are still present to the rest of us. They are just on the other side of a very thin, delicate and very fragile veil. There, in the presence of God, they intercede for us, moms, dads, brothers and sisters. How fortunate we are to have these family members among the "cloud of witnesses" that pray, intercede and help us in our lives - ever ready to respond when we call upon them.
Rest assured, dear one, your little ones are unimaginably happy, and where we all hope to be together with them one day!

Good episode fellas. It’s been a while since Ryan S has smiled and laughed this much (like em good ole days).
Loved Ryan D’s perspective, as always, as the middle person between disagreements and “outside the box” perspectives. I’d wouldn’t like to see some bobbleheads leave patronage because of some residual awkwardness. Great topic!
If ministry zeal is gone, either find it again or leave it as is before sloth transitions into anger.

I’m sad to hear that this Father thinks it’s fine to try and discern the name of our angel. I firmly believe we should humbly accept that it is not for us to know their name in this life. The mind of the Church, moreover, is that we should not be trying to delve into this area.

I have seen art depicting angels assisting Jesus in “The Garden of Gethsemane” and if the angels are joyful and worship Jesus upon His birth, why not sorrow as well. I do not believe they experience emotional the same way we do. But scripture also speaks of the emotion of the Father.

My special angel has been with me since I was 3 years old. She was little like me a few years older but would come to play with her little brother. Both children have me their names. They would appear often in uniforms..each time through out life she would warn me when I could have been harmed. I'm in my 70s now. I have seen her again she looked about 30years old. Again warmed me about an earthquake as she woke me up from a sound sleep. I thank her all the time..3 years ago she warned me not to touch a pen..I didn't listen and ended up that evening with bells palsy..love to you JUTER.. you have so helped me in life..thank you and God for all your positive direction and keeping me out of harms way,.

I'm late to the party here, but thought I'd share. I've heard the same too that you shouldn't name your guardian angel, since you do not have authority with them. With the exception of course of divine revelation. If God chooses for your guardian angel to reveal his name to you, then that is it. But we should not name our angel ourselves.

@Cassie Miller As a Catholic, there is nonsense and there is nonsense, and this type of superstition is at the high end of stupidity. Give me the words of Christ or His Apostles that says priests have 2 guardian angels or anything even close? You better take a hard look at your sanctification walk with Jesus and see how beliefs in man made superstitions and materializing your religion fits.

Bill Smith Have you walked with the Saints lately because they are real whether pro-testants like it or not. Who do you think resides in Heaven SAINTS! And it is the Saints that can vouch for this

    • @billsmith147
      @billsmith147 Před 3 lety

@@Lab-Rat I am a Catholic, so don't get your panties in a bunch. There is a significant amount of superstition in the Catholic Church and you seem to be another un-educated Catholic who has not read God's Written Word and does not understand the basic tenets of your religion.
Do you realize that your religion is based on the Bible. It is the primary source of information and direction from God to Humans? Do you realize that the 27 Books of the New Testament are the direct words of Christ and His Apostles and is inspired by the Holy Spirit of God?
First, everyone who goes to Heaven and experiences Eternal Life is considered to be a Saint. "Your Saints vouching for Saints" demonstrates your lack of understanding of the basic tenets of your faith. You should be responding with scriptural quotes to refute what I have said, not your saints vouching for saints quote.
The Second Commandment says what??? "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image. This is the second commandment was given by God to the people of Israel 4000 years ago. The first and second commandments are almost the same, about idol worshipping. However It took the Catholic Church until the late 1960's and /or early 1970's for the Catholic Church to finally come to the realization that the statutes inside and outside the Church was a form of idol worship and had the statutes removed, and most Churches also removed the candles in front of the statutes. Most of the other items of superstitions are things like scapulars, 2 guardian angels for priests, false beliefs in other humans as a means to Salvation, but Catholics need them because they don't understand their own religion and how it relates to God’s Salvation plan for mankind as revealed in the Written Word of God.
I could go on about superstitions but if people have faith because of them, fine. But when are Catholics going to wake up and start listening to the unadulterated Word of God? Catholics Stop denying yourselves the opportunity to meet and understand God from His own Words, that He left for you to discover and find Him!
Unless you have read all 27 books of the NT please don't reply.

I just want to let you know after listening to your talk on our guardian angel with great love to God 🙏 and my guardian angel, who not only appear to me and spoke with me concerning my children. When he appeared to me and I did ask him who are you he did let me that he was my guardian angel,he spoke so soft and so sweet that I was so blessed to have him speak so lovingly to me as a sinner woman I was glad when he said to me that he was my guardian angel at the time he did not let me know his name and I was so happy that I went and shared it with my prayer group and they all said to me that I should Pray to God and ask for his name to be revealed to me and my entire pray group prayed for me and before the week was ended he came to me in a dream and told me that his name was Michael. So any thing I do I do or pray about I invite him at all times and even when I have to go out I ask him to go before me and pave the way and also to come and accompany me no matter where I go and also to join me in prayer. It's a long story but I just have make it short. I would like to share my story if any one would like to know more be blessed each of you.

Ditto the Fr Ripperger reference, we shouldn't name them. So now it's priest vs priest? Well, there are lots of unanswered mysteries still in our faith. But to me it makes sense not to give your GA a name because he existed before you and may well be assigned to another soul after you go to Heaven, or hell 🙄. We name things that BELONG to us.
