That’s was so enlightening & fun thank you all for your insight
if you paid attention to the text of the didache, and the implied context, you will understand that the didache was drawing from the beatitudes, the lord's prayer, the olivet discourse, daniel, isaiah, and the plain text of matthew and mark. their mention of the apostles means that the majority of them are still alive. there is no explicit mention of persecution so therefore the neronian persecutions of 64 haven't occurred yet. the mention of meat from offerings and absence of circumcision, means that the council of jerusalem in 50 have already occurred. no mention of priests but rather, the notion of prophets implies the duties of catholic priests today, means that the levitical priesthood is still existing because to call someone a priest can only mean a levite or cohen of the temple of jerusalem. the lack of pauline theology means that the origin of the didache is outside of the greeks. the terms witchcraft, and pederasty meaning relations between an adult and a prepubescent boy and bondservants meaning slaves means that this is still well within the second temple period. pederasty was a near universal practice in the roman empire, as well as witchcraft, and slavery. take note also that at 13 years old, a jewish male was considered a man, while the rite of passage for a roman was at 14 by wearing the toga virilis. the code of ethics enshrined by the didache for bondservants for christians is unlike that of the practice of the romans because they are treated almost as equals or christians are to treat them with brotherly love, while still operating under the civil practice of the empire. it is wrong to repeat the notion that the gospels were somehow written or completed after 70 AD. this is a malicious invention of the protestant and jewish intellectuals because they could never accept the fact that jesus foretold the destruction of the temple in 70 AD. if you truly believe that jesus is God and Messiah, as written in the old testament, it is evident that all the books of the entire new testament was finished before the end of 67 AD because all of the books, epistles, and letters of the NT give you an indication that christians were unmolested by the romans. this means that the great fire of rome in july of 64 AD, had not yet occurred. whereas, the book of revelations clearly lament an apocalyptic suffering of the christians and saints, and the gemmatria of nero is clearly indicated in surviving manuscripts, 666 and 616. john could still have measured the temple because it still stood and at the same time, revelations indicate by strong allusions that all the apostles aside from john have already perished together with a lot of martyrs. nero died in june of 68 and it takes 1 to 2 months for letters to disseminate fully.
37:43 man the Juggalos are gonna be mad lol Faygo baptism is confirmed not a thing
Dellacrosse family I will keep you in my rosary I pray that our loving Mother holds you in her loving arms
Very interesting and informative, reminiscent of the book Wisdom as well.
Stop making sweeping generalizations about Protestants!
Father Matt's voice is familiar. But I can't completely recall where I heard him before this episode.
Why did you pick the least popular thumbnail?
Correct title is "Should People Smoke Weed" because none of you mentioned any Bible verses like from Genesis 1 about 'all green herbs'.
Great episode!! ❤
Thank you so much for this topic. Now I know what is Didache is and it's teachings. God bless you all.❤️🙏
This priest has such a similar voice to father pagano with the same inflections the same Rosy cheeks and he looks so much like him. It's weird.
Definitely one of the best you tubes that I have watched. I had been wondering about the Didache and this answers so many questions and also undoubtedly establishes the early Church as the Catholic Church of today.
Christ monger whoa. intense.
Hey guys, great show! I was wondering (hoping), is there a link to the text Fr. Was reading from? Just asking
Thank you beautiful episode 🙏🏻
What about Thomas? Why didn't he write?
Great show!
Very enjoyable episode! Thank you for this wonderful podcast and prayers from Divine Mercy Parish! Also prayers for Ryan and his wife, as well as Father Pagano and his mother. God Bless.
Thank You awesomw show how is Father Rich
Why did the 4 gospels come 150 years after Christs death? What if JFKs death was written about 150 years later? Isn’t that odd?
Not odd at all. Common back then. Marks Gospel was about 70 or so after Christ died. Quite common because oral tradition was paramount. Remember that when you read Homer you are reading a compilation of literally thousands of different sources from different writers hundreds of year after he wrote. In perspective, the Bible is very historically accurate compared to most ancients texts.
Historically oral tradition is how most info was based down, not in the modern day way of “news”
What about Paul’s gospel? He refers to it as few times. What about the marcion gospel and Q Gospel?
You three are no different from evangelicals. Both sides say the other is wrong.
Thanks!
What language is the Didache you are reading from translated? I have one translated from Greek and some of the words are different than you are reading… I also have another that doesn’t say what language it was translated from and it is different also
I reject the Q theory.
Great episode lads
Any insight on the messages from Sr. Amapola at the Mission of Divine Mercy, TX? Maybe the next show?
This was good!! I heard of the Didache before but didn't know what it was...or how it was spelled...lol This was very interesting and informative. ❤
Thank you for a wonderful learning experience as I personally had never heard of the didache. Unbelievable history of the early church - and prayers for Fr. Rich, his mom, Jen, Ryan and family. Plus, prayers for Ryan Scheel and a vote of appreciation for all the wonderful research you do for the show. God bless your family and God bless Fr. King. (I am hoping Fr. Rich returns though.) Yes, we are all false prophets at times when we don't practice what we preach. I am often guilty of that. You are funny Fr. King which means you fit right in with the Ryans. This is one of my favorite episodes and plan to watch it again.
I have been a die hard catholic for 20 years. These past months i have been in a harsh tug of war with my own selfishness, i have wanted to run away and forget all. But i cant, and then here you guys are and show up in my feed, and rightfully so, jesus sent you to me through this app. Pray for me, Antonella C. Thank you for this talk show guys!
The Master of the Universe will never let His flock stray too far. Every man goes through similar struggles; whether they admit it or not. Praise be Our Lord!
This is awesome ❤
All of this is new to me.
How wonderful that the beliefs we practice today preceded the Bible and it is so well documented. I feel so blessed that I was called to Catholicism 63 years ago.🙏
Oh so very interesting!! Thank you!!!
Hi Ryan, Ryan, and Father Matt. Fascinating show. Lots of prayers going out for everyone.
What is a good Catholic translation of the didache available in print?
Is there a new book or article that they are referencing? Please put links in the note sections. Thank you.
it’s called the didache or teachings of the 12 apostles. it’s one of the oldest Christian documents other than the bible. It was considered for the canon but at the time they couldn’t officially authenticate it but with later technology it was authenticated and it’s dated to have been written around the same time as the book of revelation.
@@Poeina Thank you so much for your reply.
@@lillyCfields no problem! I recently have been learning so it’s fresh in my mind.

I was wondering about Fr Rich is he okay? His mother? Idk what happened...
Amen! We love all you guys.
@@robynbeach3198 From what I understand, his mother is suffering from cancer.
@ignatiusjackson235 thanks for telling me. I'll be praying for her along with Jennifer.
I hope they talk about how the anonymous fragments of the didache are written in uncial script, a style which comes from 5th to 9th century greece.
B.C. ??
Well duh, the discovered manuscripts are not the original 1st century copy. Nearly every book older than 1500 years survives in a copied manuscript. The earliest manuscripts of Aristotle we have were written 1000 years after his death, surviving only because of the Catholic monks who copied them down. Why waste time talking about script type when the content is what matters?
Are there images of the script you are referring to?
@@johnfrancis4809 AD, not BC.
@@mosesking2923 if you don't have a first century copy, isn't it kinda dumb to assume there must be one? I could say Lord of the Rings is actually from the 1700s, we just lost that original version. This is a baseless assertion. There is a lot of biased interest in presenting Christian writings as older than the evidence actually suggests, because for some reason that makes it sounds more believable to christians. As if supernatural claims are more reliable the further back in history they were made? Be cautious and skeptical about these things. Its much better for you.
Early Christian history is my favourite and so I'm really looking forward to this.
Also praying for Fr. Rich family
Keep up the good work with the guest priests. We miss Fr. Rich, we pray for him every day.
Do you know what happened to him?
@@roytavious He's still caring for his sick mother, I believe. Keep 'em in your prayers!
