- Bad Inner CV Joint VW Golf 5 variant, manual gearbox type JCR.
Špatné vnitřní klouby hřídelí, převodovka JRC na VW Golf Variant 1,9 TDI 77 Kw motor BLS.
It turns out that when the vehicle is lightened and the gas is added, the vibrations are heard.
Projevuje se tím že když se při jízdě vozidlo nadlehčí a přidá se plyn, tak jsou slyšet vibrace.
Thank you , I wanted to confirm what I was hearing on my car
Excelente video amigo es un buen trabajo. 🤔🤔🤔🤗🤗🤗👨🔧👨🔧 ayudara a mucha gente con su auto. 👍👍👍👍
I have found that an inner CV joint that starts to go bad will make a clunk sound when you are driving, take your foot off the gas, and then accelerate. You will hear one clunk. Most people don't hear it because the have the radio or AC on.
I can hear mine when I reverse park the most or drive slow when I’m parking
OMG this is actually the problem I'm having. I've have watched so many videos trying to figure out my "one clunk" problem and finally I have an answer!!!
Hi I'm having the same sound but on top of this i hear a rattling sound when I'm driving in 1st gear under 15km/h in the other gears it's gone, could it be related to this?
@@philippek1983 if it’s a rattle it could be the dust shield my h3 dust shield rattles
i have a fiesta st 2017 27k and this is exactly what i have, looks like n/s (short) inner cv. Bang on with the noise yahoo
I got a 05 mazda tribute, sounds just like that. Did some other tests on it, but when I tried to back up, the driver side wheel locked up, in reverse, but went forward for a little bit
So what did you do to fix this?? I have the same problem but don't know which one is broken..is it inside the gearbox or the cv axle itself?
Exact same problem on dsg thanks !!
Similar issue on Toyota Celica 00. My guess is the teeth on the axle itself or transmission are chewed up and cause the play.
SAme noise on a 2010 Seat leon, hope you share what it was at the end.
Sorry... I'm having a hard time telling if the "free-play" is at the flange / inside the differential or if it is in the inner cv joint. To me, it looks like you can wiggle the inner cv joint while the center part of the cv joint does not move. Is that what you also noticed? Can you pull the diff flange in & out of the diff? Or try to move it up & down to see if it has play? What is the actual issue that you feel or hear? A clicking during acceleration can be due to the inner cv joint.
I tried to move the drive shaft inside and out, up and down, but no there will not. Only when I'm shooting it forward and backward as well as in the video, there is a great will to know. When driving, when you open the throttle, the car will lighten for example. When fast moves some hill and is heard arm Vibration. But only the throttle and unweighting car. I was watching mounts for attaching the engine and axle pivots on management stabilizer attachment but everything is fine. The sound is not clicking but arm Vibration. When cornering, no sounds are heard. Sorry for my English, hopefully you will understand
@@fixandrepair6666 hi, so was is cv axle or was it differential ??
I have a 2007 Nissan Murano that when turning there's a clunk and sometimes the car jumps and makes a heck of a noise like something broke no issues driving straight the axle doesn't really have any play or anything that I can tell any idea what I should be looking at with this issue
hi, did new inner cv's fix the issue? I seem to have the same problem.
Was just doing this to my car and was thinking... "I don't think that's normal" 🤔 And here you are 🤣
I've got similar issues with my nissan grand livina's cv Joint. But i cannot Identify which one who is broke. It is between inner joint or outter joint
I did pull out the left side drive shaft and checked both cv joints. Outer was not very firm like new, but not very loose either, so guess it should be ok. Inner was more or less ok, stretching well, but can't tell if there's one position where it is worn out. Sad part was that the replacement part didn't match the flange, so put it back.
In an interesting turn of events, i had put off the sticky shift for some time, so did a check and found that one of the shifter bushes at the engine side (the bigger eye one) was worn out and there's some movement. Hacked an old ignition cable coil-pack- end sleeve as a replacement diy bush and things are quieter down there. Not sure if it solved the inside- transmission part of the problem, but i guess it did something. Maybe the shifter fork is now less moving around and therefore better positioned , meaning the gears in there are better positioned.
There's a mild clicking when i let go of the accelerator, probably from the inner cv joint, but i have more peace of mind now after the other hack.
Next would be 1.drive shaft , 2. Transmission fluid check, 3. Engine mounts.
Regarding engine mounts, the dogbone mounts are clearly weak, which gives a loose engine feel while accelerating and coasting. Also, there's a jerk on suddenly acceleration. The other 2 mounts are not that easy to check. Anyway, changing all 3 mounts.
Will keep you guys posted.
Update :returned the part and got the correct drive shaft , need to install.
Good point
i also have same problem. But my mechanic tell me every thing is fine but . I still feel both acceleration and deceleration . some thing loose ( I means a small clearance). Can dogbone mount weak without wear and tear?
@@drsanmyattun you fixed it?
had thoose symptoms I've changed the 2 parts round shap engine bushing in the cradle then clunk disappeared but still feeling looseness but no more sound, also my right (the longer one) drive shaft at the inner CV joint got really hot since it's missing the heat protection plate from the engine and when dismounting them to rebuild them with VW OEM boot grease... no one was loose but the right side was really stiff and a bit discoloured so now I'm digging more that direction.
could be control arm bushing as well
Brother. My inner cv joint. Axle shaft makes the scrape sound only wen reversing & Turing right weel. Did urs did the same ?
How to do fix that issue my matrix have that problem already replaced both CV axles
Im having this noise when i drive over bumpy roads did you fix this clunking noise?
I got something similar on my Audi A6 Quattro 2016. I can only hear it when accelerating from 0 to 40km/h. It is loudest when i release my gas pedal at around 40km/h. Could this be it?
I’m having this problem with my civic did you ever find the problem
Yes
Its definitely the axle everyone....the inner and outter joints can go bad especially if the boot has a rip in it.
I have this sound but only when reversing and pushing in the clutch when i have some speed, than it goes clank clank clank until the car stops. (Golf 4 2003)
I have the same problem what is the issue? When I go over a hump or break or pull off it makes the occasional clunk sound and it also vibrates when in 1st gear
I have the same problem. Did you find a fix?
@@FrancisMucheru hey yes i ended up replacing my stabilizer links with my ball joints and cvs coz it was long overdue , i found loose ball joint bolt
@@ashtonmartin2855 Thanks a lot. I pray it doesn't turn out to be transmission
Is it not supposed to make any noise or have no play?
Did changing the cv axle solve the issue?
I hear the same sound but when
My car stands still? That’s strange ! When I drive it disappears in my corvette c7 automatic
Please anyone help me.. is the cv axle have a free play or not. Because some say it has a little free play. As I knows it doesnt have any, please correct if Im wrong. Thanks
Ishmet Hoessaf The little will is there.
A good full coverage policy and a fire would be best for this ride.
Me pasa lo mismo en el gol powers.. que fue al final??..
If the axle is bad at the transmission would it be more pronounced when going in reverse? Thanks in advance.
In your case, I would check the reverse gear.
The tripod bearings in the axle are bad.
@@michaell3711 This car has no tripod bearing, it is normal CV joint, like outer.
Nobody knows anything and everybody knows something. All our issues are different I guess and there could be many possibilities.
I have this same exact issue but
when I drive I hear clunking on driver side mainly.
When I go over a big crack it sounds like my driver side tire SLAMs against the ground.
Can’t tell what it is in the comments there are so many answers
So was it bad axles?
Normal back and for it normal but in and down is not normal so from the bottom of u pushed up without spinning it u have a bad CV axle
I have the exact same noise. Started noticing it around a year back, when starting to reverse. It was like a minor grinding, like something loose inside the drivetrain. Later, it became noticeable when accelerating and letting go of the throttle. Then the wheels are driving the engine and this happens exactly in such condition. Under acceleration , no issues. I removed the left drive shaft to replace and when outside, there was no play at all either in inner or outer joints. The outer joint was a bit easy to wiggle, though. Inner joint was not showing the symptoms when taken out, tried all angles, pulled out and pushed fully in, no play. Makes me wonder if the transmission is showing its age, it is a 16yr old 2.0L Octavia. The sad part of the story is that the new replacement part was not fitting and had to refit the old one, but could give it back. Now thinking whether to replace drive shaft or to check the transmission. Did you find out your issue?
Hi, it was both of my inner joints. I have completely replaced both shafts with their joints. And it's after the problem. If there are bad external joints, it will take effect when the wheels are fully turned to one side and you hear a click when you accelerate. And if they are internal joints, it is usually heard when driving when the vehicle is lightened. For example, if you cross a bump. As for the gearbox, I would first check the oil. If there are no metal parts in it.
Fix and Repair thanks for the superfast response. I will check the other side inner joint as well. I really hope it is the drive shaft and not the tranny. Thanks a lot!
onedegreespot did you check the other cv joint?? any feedback would be appreciated, as I have a knocking when coasting but notsure if it's inner joint also have a knock when lifting off accelerator having accelerated not sure if this knock is the side engine mounts as I have done the gearbox mount already.
What exactly is your problem? Did you take the gear off? And then did sounds start to sound? I am sorry for my english.
Fix and Repair - Don't worry about your English, I appreciate your reply, thank you.
If I'm rolling it makes a knocking sound whilst in neutral, I think it might be the driveshaft but also not sure if something to do with differential or gearbox maybe, I hope it's just the driveshaft but I'm not sure.
I changed the hole cv axle and it still make that sound it sound like it in the transmission what it
My 2008 Nisan rogue is having the same issue. Gradually the noise is too loud I cannot drive it down the street. There’s a loud cracking metal clunking noise I cannot point it out. And it only happens when I drive forward. I’m so anxious to find out no one will come to diagnose my car 😞
Did you figure out what was wrong with it !???
Got the same sound on 11 lexus is250, noise coming from the inner cv shaft
When I go over a bumpy road it makes that noise
Why on my car wheels vibrating when i want to start from first gear or reverse slowly only by releasing clutch...clutch kit is new, but i got this issue now...i have a little play in inner cv joints in place where rod entering gearbox...is that play causing vibrations when i start going slowly? Later when driving is ok
when you in 1st gear and move slowly the car start shaking especially when car going uphill that must check inner and outer cv joint.
@@rashika142008 thanks for replay, my car vibrates (front wheels) in first and reverse if i start to move only by releasing clutch pedal in bite point...i have some play in inner cv joint in spot where cv axle entering in diferential and there is clunk noise in diferential when i shake cv axle up and down by hand....this can be reasone for vibrations?!
Sir why does my car shift but wont move at all even in reverse. When im not stepping on the clutch there are some weird rolling noise which is I think from the CV axle or from the boot part. My speedo reads some speed when im not pressing the clutch and coming back to as I press the clutch and the weird noises gone as I press in the clutch. What possible problem of my car sir? It is a Mitsubishi Lancer with a Manual Transmission on it. Hope you answer sir. Thanks a lot!
Did you ever found out what the problem was?
Yes sir,it was worn cv trijoint
My o5. Crv had a lit bit of play but not that yours and not even make noise I just noticed the car I’m driving when I’m going slow like 20 the tires shakes and the steering wheel as well not a lot I don’t know if know I need to get new tires for sure also sometimes I feel the play like dependent how the car is on park I don’t get clinking noise just a clank when passing a small hole or bump I know it’s the sway bar link that need to be replace in the right side of the front
I think I need a couple more minutes of you twisting it back and forth to see if it's really broken and what it sounds like I can't hear it I mean you should do it for at least another 3 minutes instead of saying what it actually is
Is it possible a worn inner cv axle can cause a vehicle to make clunking sound when shifting from Drive to Reverse then later not to move?
I have this issue right now and am trying to find a solution replaced my gearbox and all the mountings but it’s knocking badly when shifting by from Park to reverse/drive/sport
@@prestonp960 I’m so sorry to hear about that! You may want to look and see if you have a broken bracket. The bracket is located on the passenger side connected to the CV axle housing to the side of the engine block. I have a 2014 Lincoln MKT and that was the problem.
Your problem is Pendulum mount and and the two motor mounts inscribed in the subframe

Hi, I have a Golf mk5 would a bad inner cv rattle on all gears? have a grinding/ Rattle noise on 1st 2nd gear only 3rd upwards is smooth.
in my case it was mostly in the fifth gear

So what was wrong
Ganyan ang saken eh ano klangan gwin?
Hi , my golf mk5 makes the same noise. Could this cause vibration on acceleration but mostly on deceleration .? Thanks
tfijamez in my case it was only in acceleration. When decelerating, I would type it on a two-mass flywheel.
My 2011 Ford Taurus I thought it was the right wheel bearing hub and I fixed but it did not fix my problem so I'm assuming it's the CV inner joint kind of like grinding noise when's the decelerating with brakes
@@danielzincoris617 it was the drive shafts on my car , the outer cv joint was damaged
@@tfijamez did your car kick when put on Drive and reverse? And did it get louder when car still cold?

Andrei Cusnir Yes, I changed both shafts.

Talk man 😂
I can tell you if you couldn't get it . When you turn cv axel and hear klinck klonk tak tic sound it means cv axel is no bueno :) I hope it helps.
@@wilkas159 all it is is a bad axel? I just bought a new set of cv axels for my honda that makes this same noise i was wondering
@@skatakid117 You can also try one more thing, while driving at low speed turn wheel all way to left or right and you should also hear clicking sound ( this method probably works better if you checking outer CV axle joints). In this video inner CV axel tripod is quite worn and that`s why there is so much noise when he turns in one direction and instantly turns other way. Also to make sure with one hand you can hold part that goes into transmission and with other hand try wiggle, turn axel shaft. If sound is same CV axel is bad, but if there is no sound problem is in gearbox
@@wilkas159 no tripd bearing in ths CV joint
I've got a headache on this video.
are they both broken? My car makes the same noises.
Rick Klopper Yes in this case the internal joints were poor
My car makes clunking noises when engaging the clutch. Or when im letting it slow down on the engine in second gear when it turns to a constant speed. It clunks like 6 times and then the ride is smooth. Very annoying.
Rick Klopper It could be a two-mass flywheel, but it's hard to say.
I uploaded a video: czcams.com/video/v3dsZWJm4Jo/video.html Maybe you can tell whats going on.
@Eric Love That's my exact question. I hear this exact same noise when going over small bumps or driving on a rough road. I can recreate the sound by bouncing on my car. I've had the suspension inspected by three mechanics and all say everything is fine. How do I know if this problem is the CV shaft or the differential itself?
This is play in the differential I have the same. It is normal. It cannot be totaly tight.
Yes you are right, but this will has been too much. When the car was lightened, they began to knock while riding. After the exchange everything was fine. But you are right the differential must be free.
I scary for a second
