Adam Maness teaches you how to flip the tension by borrowing on 6th diminished scale of chords, on piano or guitar. - Hudba
These videos you make are so practical, they're of the few that really make me jump to switch everything off and get down to playing, experimenting, and just having endless fun. Thank you very much!
“The moon comes out,” I like that. This topic is super interesting. It’s like what Barry Harris calls “borrowing,” but applied in a certain way. I’d love to see more of this kind of thing. Love it all though, thanks!
Edit: like maybe applied to straight comping. Probably couldn’t let the tensions hang as long, not sure🤔
This is gonna inspire me for another few months! Thank you so much!
Super inspiring I can’t wait to try this out
Wonderful, you are such a good communicator and educator and made this understandable and useful for me and probably everyone else who took your video in👍👍👍
This was fantastic, Adam. Really great practical advice 🙏
Cannot love this enough. Thank you!
SO JUICY! Thanks Adam!
these videos are so awesome man Im so grateful! I would love to see your take on Ravel and his harmonic devices (textures too but im a guitar player so harmony would be cooler haha).
A tornado of tension - love it!
Ahhhhhh this is so cool!! Thank you!
Another great video!
Hank you so much, very inspiring.
Excellent thanks so much!
Respect, Maestro!
Beautiful!
Adam… yet again getting to the nitty gritty 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you kindly.

Nice video man digg
Brilliant!
Such a good channel ...
Always appreciate you. Rip barry :/
Mind blown!
This sounds like something I heard Wynton Kelly do behind Miles on a recording, but I didn't know what it was.
wow, super useful! :)
Mind blown! This was right in front of me all this time but I didn't see it.
Doctor Adam is here!
Is there a link for the piano/tap?
Hi! Thanks for the videos, can melody instruments use this method to improvise? Sax, trumpets, scat voice , etc?
Well, if you hace Bb (or Gm) for a few maesures you can alternate between Bb6 and C°7 arpegios and it sounds awesome.
Anyone here know what software Adam uses as his score graphics?
what's the song that starts to play at 00:15?
Larry who .. I couldn't quite make it out. Is there a link to be had or a spelling.?
Thanks 😊
Larry Goldings!
Wow. Like, wow.
I noticed some harmonizing on the dominant 7th chords that you don’t get into in the video but I thought was interesting. Looks like you use the m7 chord a whole step above whatever the dominant 7 chord is whenever the melody note is the 4th of the dominant 7 (e.g. C - Eb - F -Ab over Eb). I don’t recall if you e ever explicitly called out this strategy ina video before but would be interested in hearing/seeing more about it.
It doesn’t look to me like you wrote this accurately, but in terms of the concept, I think I may have understood your idea, and if I did, I think you might be interested in looking into “Upper Structure” chords.
An interesting idea is to resolve the tension the first time, but leave it the second, as the listener’s ear will have been trained.
Just wondering if the Cdim is a full diminished or half diminished? Are the notes C Eb Gb A?
yes
Hi , Did you say Larry Goldman ?golding ? Cant find him ?
