it is crazy how this is free
Ars gratia artis
Agreed!
This is free because their paid stuff is deep deep. They’ve got more where this came from
Because it doesn’t matter if you can practice and practice. If you don’t “it,” you’ll never be up there with the elites, if those are your goals
Mans really donating to charity 😭
Production quality is amazing lately, great work to the whole team! Adam and Peter's acting / on-camera presence is really impressive also!
yeah besides the music teaching quality, the editor is a beast
Man the sus on the tritone sub is a sound I’ve heard for over a decade and not known how to play and always wanted to. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU
As a kid in our shed sessions, we always called it the "stank face."
Absolutely, a tight funk bass and guitar groove is the other cause of a stankface, found with great musicians everywhere.
I just commented this lmao. This STANK FACE
Wow! Wow! Wow! In the beginning of the video I thought I would never be able to play that. But you explained it so well, that right now I am sitting in front of my piano and it sounds ... totally crooked face-ish 😂
🎉🎉🎉
I've been a jazz musician for 25 years and I ALWAYS learn something new from your videos. Even if it's just techniques to be a better teacher myself. You guys are really doing a great job of education, passing on the tradition, and video production (which is my other, more lucrative career), and deserve all the attention you're getting.
PS I believe they're called "Michael Rush Drop 2 2 Chords," not "Open Studio Mu Chords." 😜
There's so many damn lamps in this video. I love OS.
I'm a classical musician that's always wanted to play jazz piano. I have a masters in conducting and a bachelor's in composition. When I sit down to improvise at the piano with my intermediate piano skills, I'm always at a loss. They way you so cleanly explained how to use these techniques to spice things up was so succinct and clear. Gonna go sit down and practice!
This might be the greatest video on the internet. Technically accurate, beautifully shot, funny and effective. Thank you so much for putting this out into the world.
Great way to teach by revolving this all around the basic I vi IV V progression in C! Makes it a lot easier to understand.
Always inspired by your vids
Yes! I'd love to see more videos using basic pop progressions and slowly complexifying them
Those tritone subs really giving me Crystal Silence vibes
The modal interchange chords are just massive. I use them everywhere and I wanna cry every single time I hit a IVm6maj7 chord to make a cadence
I was gonna say ... PRODUCTION VALUES ... the chops, the humor....
Simply brilliant lesson! Enough material for months
this video is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
“chords that make life worth living” is one of the best things i’ve ever heard
I actually stayed only to see if peter falls asleep or not. But I ended up learning way more than I thought possible in 10 minutes. Thanks.
modal interchange makes me want to drop guitar and start playing piano, it sounds so great on this instrument
Peter... Peter! 😂
MY GOD THESE TWO PIANISTS ARE INCREDIBLE!!!
This video alone unlocked a whole new harmonic world to me. Thank you so much!
Alright. It would be a crime to not subscribe at this point.
I really love the sus chord section and would enjoy a deeper dive.
THat's pure gold for the ones that we don't have harmony knowledge. We just want to understand, and enjoy... CHEERS!!
7:06 "cmon now" i hear you sir!
This is why music theory is so important and I like it so much 💫
Guitarist here. This is great and a fresh change. Thanks!
Hey, this video genuinely changed how I'm going to improvise going forward more than any other I've seen on the platform. Thanks for doing what you do!
3:55 that graphic perfectly aligning with the keyboard is so satisfying😍... thank you, editor!

Crooked face chords are my fave, they have nice Vince Guaraldi sound
Thanks for all your efforts in making jazz piano theory easy to understand... even for a non native English speaker ! I am trying to learn jazz after 20 years without practicing piano, and you really help !

FINALLYY!!
Thank you for this - instantly useful. One of the things I've been struggling with is how to make tritone subs actually sound good, and this has definitely helped.
Some of those chord movements are gorgeous, especially the Moo chords
