I love the grit and rawness of the early kickboxing days. Seems like it was a golden age of kickboxing back then.
It was now it’s not fighters are not the way they were in the 80s like they just don’t have confidence and are worried unlike the fighters in the 80s used to go all out kickboxing just ain’t big as it used to be
K1 was epic
MMA has bastardised martial arts. Many pure forms have now suffered cultural depletion.
@@zayyaanal-iqra12670
It was because all the kick-boxers had different martial arts backgrounds too so they came with all kinds of techniques whereas now almost everybody in kickboxing has the same background
Dude had it all. Slick fighter, good build, good looking, and hit the big screen. Amazing to think people can accomplish so much with their bodies and mind.
His mind ultimately landed him in Prison. It can be a double edged sword. Superb video. The 80's looked great fun in the US

He used to train, still may actually, with one of my Tae Kwon Do Instructors in Hawaii. I got to spare with him a couple times just for training purposes and his Power was NO Joke! I too grew up watching him and while serving in the Marine Corps stationed in Hawaii I took some classes and my jaw dropped when I found out he was there on a regular basis! I took in as much as I could for the brief time I was there and will never forget it! Thanks, Master Alexio, and Master Smith! Semper Fi!

He used to do 12 rounds pro kickboxing fights, amazing conditioning!

My first ever pay per view was one of his fights. I will never forget. He ended it with a flying reverse tornado kick. Dude was a beast.
Dude what in the fuc* is a flying reverse tornado kick?? You don't even know what kicks are actually called. It's either a flying kick, a tornado kick, or a reverse spinning kick but it's not all 3. If you knew what a tornado kick actually is you'd know it can't be done in reverse.

Love the pop in his hooks and the commitment to those BOMBS that look like kicks.
Mr. Power. Just comes forward and blasts them down. Not hard to see why he was called the Terminator. But although his strategy was straightforward, his technique was varied and on point! Underrated legend.

@@HowlingMoonCinemas You just made my day! This is so atmospheric. Strange how it went under my radar up to now
What a rabbit hole I just went down. Was listening to Streets of Siam on another CZcams video and one of the few comments was explaining how Dennis Alexio was a real champion (something I didn't know). Unfortunately his life seemed to take a nose dive at the tail end of his career. In 2017 he was sentenced to 15 years for money laundering and other things. No idea why he would do this at first. He could have made an honest living after his own career still related to the sport but I think he was only ever interested in fighting and nothing else. When he realised age had caught up to him and he could no longer compete at the level he wanted, it sent him into a downward spiral. He will be over 70 when finally released. I don't know much of the justice system but maybe good behavior can get him out in his late 60s and he can spend time coaching and training the up and comers.
Stand Bush rocks! Love streets of siam. Hell yeah man.
When you get a taste of fame and money and make bad business decisions. Smacks of desperation. Hopefully he can, but if it's fed time, maybe not.
Paul Hertzog/ Stan Bush! 🤘🤘
Must've lived to fight. He dared to try win against the US Govt, which it even took till the final round for Muhammad Ali to do (7-0 , 1970 US Supreme Court) without similar money at stake

Stop talking shit
ohhh. my god . I looked to see their fights by chance and I didn't think it was that good! he was a true warrior
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the brutal combination from 3:22-3:29? For any average viewer, they see it as a barrage of violent strikes, but it does take A LOT of practice and experience to pull it off effortlessly. Alexio kept throwing those mean hooks to the body, and once his opponent began to cover his body and leaned forward just a little bit from the ropes, Alexio threw a clean roundhouse right to the head, knocking him out cold. He ain’t called the Terminator just because he’s a powerful striker, as he also is an intelligent striker that knows exactly where an opening is and when to strike
He was very calculated and tempered to see that opening. He wasn't just banging out some random combo he'd learned, he was going with the flow and saw an open door and took the shot. What a beast! 💪👍
That knee was the epitome of calculated.

My adoptive father was good friends with him back in the day, he also did some dieting and nutritional help for Dennis back in his prime days. Hope when he gets out he lives the rest of his life happily and stays on a straight rope. He doesnt deserve to stay stuck in prison for the rest of his life.

Thank you for the video, btw; it's an interesting collection which took some work to put together. The sound is apropos as well!
This guy was no joke, great video!
Fun fact: the voice Dennis has in "kickboxer" wasn't his own; someone else's was used instead. He stated this in an interveiw I read a while back. Apparently his accent wasn't 'American' enough or something. So there you go!!!
You're wrong and this is old news. They decided to dub him because his high pitched voice didn't match his physical appearance and he couldn't deliver his lines in a professional matter so they had to dub him with a more masculine voice. There are videos out there without the dubbing and it's.. hilarious.
Damn, I thought he was a good actor considering how convincing his lines were in the movie. Lol
