I think you might not understand the concept of Camila Alves not being her true self if she was living her poor life in Brazil as you accordingly addressed. It's the path you take that defines who you are. She moved to the United States and worked as a cleaner and a waiter, then relocated to New York by 19 and pursued a modelling career. By the age of 24 she had already been through what the average Joe doesn't. That's also the age she apparently met her husband and now has 3 kids with. She sounds like a winner in my book.
