As an Australian, I will just say that Americans might be able to fool other Americans with their Australian accents, but I've never heard an American actor do one that actually sounded right.

I agree. The closest I've ever heard is Arj Barker (I think hes Canadian though) but even so any Aussie could still pick its fake. Its the vowels that give them away, they all hold them for too long.

One of the best attempts at an Australian accent from an American is from Robin Wright in a movie called "Adore" her performance was about 99.9% perfect, she got words like "water" and "car" correct, there were some slip ups, but that's to be expected, I hoped Robin won an award or two for her role!

Lol I had a friend who was travelling back to Canada and since she was a minor she had like an airport worker (I forget what they're called) assigned to her through the airport and plane. She decided to introduce herself with an English accent and tell everyone she was from London, but they believed her and she thought she'd get in trouble if they found out she was lying, so she had to be "English" for the rest of the trip home

I remember listening to a radio show discussing faking accents in general, and an Aussie guy in Melbourne rang in describing how he was out with mates clubbing in the Melbourne CBD where he met a girl and put on a heavy russian accent and convinced her he was from Moscow. They ended up going out for a year and he kept the act up the whole way until he and his girlfriend were walking through the city and they bumped in to his parents. She dumped him almost on the spot. Pretty sly on his part and she was right to dump him. But it’s also kind of funny.
