My mom had the same thing happen to her while she was doing laundry. She brushed it off for a while, then was like, "Y'know... maybe I do feel kinda off, I'll take a break." She woke up 30 minutes later on the kitchen floor, called my step-dad, who promptly came home and took her to the ER, found out she was having an asystole for 30 straight minutes, which is a type of cardiac arrest (she was wearing a heart monitor, which recorded everything and sent reports to her doctor). By all means she should have died very quickly while that was happening, but somehow she survived. Turns out these things aren't always as horrendously painful as people tend to think. It could be as simple as, "Huh... I'm a little dizzy, that's weird..." to suddenly being on the ground. That's why it's important to know the signs of these things. In many cases, it can be subtle and easy to brush off until it's too late. And then there's the American incentive to avoid medical bills as much as possible, its a brutal combination.

This man did the Looney tunes rule. He's not affected by the laws of nature unless he realizes they exist. If he was never told that he was having a heart attack he'd be fine.
There are a bunch of cases of people not even realising they were having heart attacks until a doctor notices it in a routine checkup later down the line.

As a fellow guy working in medicine I gotta say: don't scare people like that. :'D I know it's true BUT due to our much higher exposure to those cases we tend to think it's a much more common thing than it really is. Chances of a young person having a stroke or a heart attack out of the blue or bc of alcohol consumption is still pretty low. Even if we work with them on a daily basis.

Sorry but that is misinformation and has been debunked for a long time. Asians drink more than anyone I have ever seen. More than the Irish, more than the Germans or Americans. The world slept on it but East Asians esp Koreans and Japanese have the craziest drinking culture ever. College kids drink till 8 am and company workers can be found passed on side walks at night. The subways are packed with drunk young folk in the morning taking the first train of the next day home. Its insane. I think the asian flush is an allergy that can be found in any race. I lived 10 years in east asia and seen the asian flush a selective, few times. not more than the red nose on white dudes haha

â@@Wesson11 Mark has a genetic trait, chill. Since this has come up before, and I'll bring it up again, Mark has a variant of the Alcohol Flush gene, most likely due to his Korean background (before this becomes a racial debate, the gene locates ancestrally to Asia, but it also appears in European populations due to old Silk Road trade routes, so it's not a race thing, it's genetics. Doesn't matter what you look like or whatever; there are Irish people who can't drink anything because some member of their tree had relationships down the trading routes.) When you have this gene, depending on the variant (because mutations are not a specific variant, it can be any assortment other than what it's supposed to be with various ramifications) it will cause your body to not be able to process alcohol and remove it in an orderly fashion. The reason it is called Alcohol Flush is because people with the gene, when they drink, typically flush pink on their face and extremities due to their body's response to the alcohol while it's having a cha-cha real smooth moment trying to figure out how to get rid of it, which is to basically dilate blood vessels and increase blood flow in an attempt to run more sweeps through the liver and kidneys than normal. So people can turn bright pink after drinking only a few licks when that's typically a stereotype given to rampant alcoholics. The heart attack comes in when you drink too much. It's the same thing that would happen if you drank too much as a normal person, but because a person with this gene can't process half of that, it happens much, MUCH faster. Eventually the amount of alcohol becomes so much that the liver can't take it anymore, and you can't excrete it fast enough, so it will actually turn poisonous and cause things like a heart attack due to excessive amounts. As for how or why the gene exists... I have no idea. It's just a pain in the ass to have, and again, depending on the variant, you may be able to have a few conservative drinks and be fine, or if you ever touch a drink again, like Mark, you may be signing a death wish.
Not just your heart, your whole body often attacks itself. Cancers are literally ALL the result of your body not working properly and ending up attacking itself. There're like tens of thousands of things that can go wrong and your body will suddenly attack itself. Most of the time you don't feel it until you get sick, but sometimes it can be deadly⊠like your immune system attacking itself because why not đ¶âŠ

He didn't know he had something called 'Asian Flush', i think it's called. It's an allergic reaction to alcohol that includes the heart attack that Mark had.
This man did the Looney tunes rule. He's not affected by the laws of nature unless he realizes they exist. If he was never told that he was having a heart attack he'd be fine.
The mind powerful. Believing you're healthy can actually make you healthier.

Even if we work with them on a daily basis.

â@@Wesson11 I'd say thats a good thing
â@@Wesson11 Mark has a genetic trait, chill.
Doesn't matter what you look like or whatever; there are Irish people who can't drink anything because some member of their tree had relationships down the trading routes.)
When you have this gene, depending on the variant (because mutations are not a specific variant, it can be any assortment other than what it's supposed to be with various ramifications) it will cause your body to not be able to process alcohol and remove it in an orderly fashion.
"Everybody in this country is worried about a terrorist attack, meanwhile your heart can attack you." - Norm Macdonald
