In all honesty, I think that many games for this jam are great. However, oftentimes their biggest downside is in fact the randomness if the dice. Sometimes it's just shoehorned to fit the theme, sometimes not (this game is the latter), but it'd still be better off without it. To be precise: This game is a really fun 3D puzzle game. However, the problem was that executing a plan could take much much longer, simply due to the problem that I couldn't choose the outcome. Not to mention, that chaining the effects to create more complex puzzles would be nigh impossible with the current system. Of course, I am aware that it was necessary to comply with the theme of the jam, but that only makes me feel that the theme itself was simply a bit off.
Randomness isn't necessarily a requirement of the theme. My team's game is about literally rolling dice around on a grid! But yeah, most people took the obvious interpretation, which can be hard to balance within the time frame of the jam.
i feel so good about the puzzle where there's a button on the floor with glass obstructing it except for the corner. if you flip to the yellow side he says "you probably jumped down before relizing you are stuck, didn't you??" and i didn't and it made me feel smort bruh i just realised how dumb i sound anyway i really liked the puzzles, i played until the magnet upgrade with the rocket puzzle and i really liked the puzzles a lot of them can be beated in multiple ways (the button with the glass floor above it, after you get the magnet, i beat it by using the blue trasfer abillty then jumping down and standing on the button) it was very buggy (a rocket glitched into me and i couldn't move or respawn) but it makes sense because its a gamejam sorry for rambling but i enjoyed your game even if i didnt finish it (but im pretty close)
"Valve didn't make Portal 3 so I made it by myself. However valve didn't like me stealing their name so I made the companion cube dlc and turned it into a stand alone game"
just played the game , it was really fun and creative but also very buggy i got soft locked near the end while a rocket chasing me and couldn't move anything but the camera also the cube fell through the floor multiple times . i solved few puzzles without using the cube effects which made some effect seems useless or not needed like the jump and the magnite . you trolled me into going back and checking that empty room lol
I enjoyed the game, but found it pretty annoying to activate the powers by rotating them to be on the top of the cube. Nonetheless, a very cool and neat little puzzle game!
I didn't figured out that I can roll the cube to blow up a bridge in first puzzle. Just walked close to yellow wall, where textures are a little bit offset.
I would tell that this is the most promising puzzle game of near future, if I would never saw "The entropy centre" trailer. So, sorry, now this game has only 2 place.
Tried it for a bit but I think I might be cheating. There are sections were there's a big gap and puzzles that'll let you cross, but I just ignored it and chucked the box across before jumping myself (you go faster without holding the box).
the game looks cool but there's not much food left in the fridge/freezer and I don't really know what to eat, yesterday I made myself haystacks but now im all out of Fritos
I like the idea for it. Portal inspired but definitely an original and very creative idea for a puzzle style game
Ok just found out this is a game jam entry and now i’m blown away
yeah this kinda reminds me of F-Stop
@@dylanbksp Then basically THIS is the F-Stop Portal 2 Beta game. No Portal gun, No cave Johnson, just like the early test of Portal 2.
Yeah same here
The companion cube looks a bit different than usual
Looks amazing for a game jam entry. Love the concept. Great work!
Facinating how people can make games in that timeframe.
meanwhile I've been spending years making my own game and it still looks crap
First day I worked on my game from 8 am to 9 pm lol
i love the play on words with shutter labs as opposed to aperture science

It's for a game jam, and in the description he tagged it as portal
lmao that's good
Well that is some fine work young man
Companion Cube Update: It actually accompanies you throughout the game
aperture laboratories, shutter labs? nick johnson, i see what you did there!
Finally a companion cube gets their own game
this is giving me some incredible portal vibes, keep up the good work

I dig the portal vibes
xelu and valve-inspired projects, name a more iconic pair
If you said that it is Portal 3 trailer, I would believe that. Looking good!
It seems like there will be no portals, and that the main point of the puzzle is the cubes... I look forward to it
Wow, this looks pretty dope!
Portal if Aperture Science couldn't afford portals
Oh baby! Another Portal-like for my collection!
For a moment there I thought this was the announcement for your new podcast.
Oh baby you know I love me some cube and button based testing
Very portaly feeling, I like it!
Portal 3 has been confirmed!!
Very cool!
looks interesting!
I really like the look of it. Pretty minimalistic but it sorta works for the puzzle games.
Looks like fun.
Game idea: The Portal companion cube section, but the cube gains gimmicks
Portal 2 is my fav game of all time, so this is DEF something i wanna play!!
Awesome game!
COMPANION CUBE: The Game
"Valve didn't make Portal 3 so I made it by myself. However valve didn't like me stealing their name so I made the companion cube dlc and turned it into a stand alone game"
Can't wait to see all the hidden "rockets" in the levels
Really loved this short portal inspired game! Though, I still don't really understand how the powers are properly activated. I still enjoyed it
Portal but without the portals.
Its genius
hell yeah I love boxes
Portal but the companion cube is a shika slate from botw
Cool game!
ok I have faith in you
Looks good I want it
portal but no portals, rather cubes!
a brilliant idea, im looking forward to it :)
Rubix cube technology 💯💯💯😱😱😱🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Its just like a companion cube, only with a lot more functionality and usefulness to justify it being a companion!
Companion cube: The game.
nice
This reminds me of Blue Portals
Unrelated note, but up after finishing this video I got an ad disrespecting John fetter man in a parody of “the wellerman”
Thats look so cool, hope yo can get it on the switch
just played the game , it was really fun and creative but also very buggy
i got soft locked near the end while a rocket chasing me and couldn't move anything but the camera
also the cube fell through the floor multiple times . i solved few puzzles without using the cube effects which made some effect seems useless or not needed like the jump and the magnite . you trolled me into going back and checking that empty room lol
Well done kitty
it looks like the cube is the main character and not the player
Portal, but differend
Normally i don't play puzzle games but i've made an exception before, And i'm willing to do it again.
Is the Shutter Labs name a nod to Aperture Science
"Game: Portal (2007)"
Im gettin BotW-puzzle vibes
It looks a bit like Portal, but it's original and I like it. GJ
This looks intriguing, but I’m not sure I entirely get it. I’ll have to give it a shot.
Portal 3???? HYPE!!
haha, youtube recognized this as portal :D
This is sick but I wish there was a sensitivity slider and also most levels can be cheesed by launching yourself with the green side of the block.
it was my idea **** we have the same game but you made more levels and made it in 3d because I didn't planned the time right
GG my friend GG
I enjoyed the game, but found it pretty annoying to activate the powers by rotating them to be on the top of the cube. Nonetheless, a very cool and neat little puzzle game!
l liked it it's cute. some times tho I will say the cube is annoying not wanting to fall on the side I need but the concept is interesting
I didn't figured out that I can roll the cube to blow up a bridge in first puzzle. Just walked close to yellow wall, where textures are a little bit offset.
Portal on Wish
I would tell that this is the most promising puzzle game of near future, if I would never saw "The entropy centre" trailer. So, sorry, now this game has only 2 place.
This looks cool I can’t wait for it to come out
It’s a game jam game, you can play it now. Check the description.
Companion cube?
I just hope you don't have to put the companionship cube on the incinerator at the end...
companion cube the game
Does the cube come in pink ?
lol cute
ayo?
Sorry for the stupid question, but what game engine is this made on?
Tried it for a bit but I think I might be cheating.
There are sections were there's a big gap and puzzles that'll let you cross, but I just ignored it and chucked the box across before jumping myself (you go faster without holding the box).
*C U B E*
Companion cube the game?
Funny how youtube thinks it's portal :p
Will it be on ps4 and what's the price
the game looks cool but there's not much food left in the fridge/freezer and I don't really know what to eat, yesterday I made myself haystacks but now im all out of Fritos
I got fritos now I went to walmart today
xejamn

help
Shutter? Really? As in Aperture? (I jest.)
Portal 0
I have to say after a total of -0 hours playing this game I have noticed a distinct lack of shutters as advertised by the titles 0/10
good game bad trailer
Portal ripoff
such scam dead game sellout
That's what I was gonna say! High five!
@@rexel3287 oh hey me too!
