Isotta Fraschini Tipo 6 LMH Competizione (Le Mans Hypercar) Testing at Monza!

- Last week Isotta Fraschini was at Monza Circuit for the second test session of their Tipo 6 LMH Competizione, the hybrid prototype which the brand will field in the World Endurance Championship from 2024. Behind the wheel there was Michelotto Engineering test driver Marco Bonanomi.
The Tipo 6 Competizione has been developed for the LMH (Le Mans Hypercars) class in partnership with Michelotto. It's powered by a four-wheel drive hybrid powertrain, with a 3.0-litre single-turbo V6 engine (produced by HWA) delivering around 700 hp to the rear wheels combined with a 270 hp electric unit which acts on the front axle. Total power output of the class is limited to 500 kW (680 hp), which means that the electronics will reduce the power of the combustion engine based on the amount of hybrid boost delivered.
The two days were characterized by scattered showers which continuously changed the track conditions but the team was mainly focused on learning the car, changing the setup frequently, so they didn't focus on pure performance at all.
Cool to hear a very similar note to current F1 power units (and the old 1979 Renault RS01 F1 car), sharing a similar turbo/6-in-1 central exhaust layout, yet revving at lower RPMs.

My brain keeps wanting the car to rev higher so it sounds like an F1 car 😂
It really does sound like a lower-limited F1 unit. If they get a spot on the grid then let's hope they are at least as quick as Glickenhaus/Vanwall. I doubt the indie efforts will get much of a look-in against the major manufacturer teams, though.

I think there were as fast as the lmp2s here
IF have something that both Glickenhaus and Vanwall don't; it has a Hybrid system. So they could potentially be closer than the non hybrid teams, but indeed time will tell once the car starts racing
Let’s hope they are not as slow as the glickenhaus and kolles, they’re about as fast as LMP2 cars

@@viiscfm that's only for the LMDh cars, the IF is an LMH Machine, allowing you to develop your own Hybrid system how you like and you get free choice of where that Hybrid power can go and how much power it makes

This car has good package and well organized team so I predict that the car will show some surprise in 2024 WEC.

don’t forget this engine is developed by Michelotto with HWA (AMG), so we can think some F1 concepts are used on this engine.
This thing runs the same firing order and a pretty similar exhaust setup (runners' length) to current F1 engines...I didn't read it, the sound/frequencies are almost identical.
Every time I see that banked corner, I always think something will go through it, only to then realize that nothing will...
(except in historic events which I really like). Great video!
Amazing video, finally some quality footage, also is worth mentioning that right now they are running for mileage, hopefully will tune up a bit once they are racing

Really intrigued how this team managed to efficiently implement a hybrid system when other privateer’s like Glickenhaus binned it off as too expensive
They had AMG helping them, HWA division. That's why it sounds exatly like an F1 car at lower rpms
@@JotaV2502 wouldn't surprise me if HWA built this engine as a bigger version of their F1 blocks but for enduro racing.
It also uses a single turbo which is a unique design.
They didn't they had arrangements to partner with alfa romeo until the regulations did a 180 and they needed to find a more powerful unit - The nose on the glickenhaus is so large because it was supposed to accommodate a front mounted motor.

Vanwall and Glickenhaus were also privateer LMH cars this year.
@@wiegraf9009 this is true but in my comment I mentioned that the Isotta Fraschini is the first hybrid powered privateer Hypercar, since both the Glick and Vanwall don't have a hybrid system featured in their car

It sounds like the engine never reaches the right RPM like it’s short shifted or held back muffled for sure.
No need hight rpm when E engine helping too.
On paper 6-6.500Rpm is enought.

sounds much like an f1 car, only car ive seen yet with the simiar exhaust setup (right in the center) so maybe thats one of the reasons of the similar sound?

Dare i say that Isotta might even get close to major teams like Toyota, Caddy, and even Ferrari. Remember the car hasn't even run on its full 100% trim in this testing video.

Except these cars aren’t silent. I’ve heard the Acura and the old Toyota in real life and they are loud they just don’t sound great. They make noise just not a pleasant one

Sweet car, I think the driver was holding back a bit.
First, it was a test driver. Second, the car hasn't even been run to its full power output. Even the hybrid system hasn't been used for this video. They're simply getting some mileage and gathering some data
