Umh, not to ruin it for you, tropical lobsters as this grow faster as they live in warm water causing the meat to be less sweet compared to boston or maine lobster that are predominantly live in the cold water. Another key note also, their claws are thin like sticks vs boston or maine lobster where the claws are my favorite part. I would say however the cooking and the spices in Thai or Asian cuisine def makes up for the less savory lobster meat. As far as taste, as subjective that gets, your lobsters here in North America is what you want. Also, p.s. I'm from the tropics and grew up having the tropical lobsters.

She is not, stupid tourists get ripped off very often in thailand, that lobster should not cost more than $17 in Thailand,
Stupid tourists don't like haggling prices because it's "uncomfortable" for them because it's not common in their culture, so they pay like morons, a person's weekly income in Thailand, for a freaking lobster...
Imagine someone came to you, and paid you your weekly income for a lobster... would you think he is retarded? that is how retarded tourists who pay the full price look like to the locals.

Glenn Owen Well I didn't see any black dirt or the poop vein thing so I guess they removed it off screen. But if you're talking about cleaning the lobster itself last time I checked running one under a tap is the worst thing to do to a lobster ever.

It’s just the shell. That charring on the shell gives the meat better flavour.
