- Deaf-blind writer Helen Keller and her companion, Polly Thomson appear in this documentary about Helen's daily life. Enjoy! Transcript: " Scarcely a week goes by that Helen's calendar doesn't call them away to a conference or a lecture. In this case it's a staff meeting of the American Foundation for the Blind. Which Helen is advisor and councilor. Today the foundation is submitting for her approval a device for communicating with the deaf-blind.
And for enabling the deaf-blind to communicate with each other. The keyboard activates little metal prongs that speak directly to the fingertips in braille. It is perhaps the most direct means yet invented for making contact with those who are both deaf and blind. Now Helen types out - Anyone can speak to us directly. When Helen takes time to relax, she is a merry companion. She's interested in everything and everybody. Spending an evening with Robert Helpmann the dancer and Guthrie McClintic the stage director, she seizes the opportunity to catch up with the amusement world. The theater gives her full measure, for she reads a play before she goes to it. Dance forms she must feel. So Robert Helpmann volunteers to show her the difference between classical ballet and the modern dance. Mr. McClintic does not feel that Mr. Helpmann has made his point. And suggests that they take Helen to study some modern dancing at close range. Then, from time to time there is home again. Where they sit among familiar things with curtains drawn and are simply old friends. There is peace and quiet. There is music. There is also the dishes to be washed. Polly washes the dishes. Helen shells pecans. Helen keeps a careful check on Polly. But when the radio is playing it's hard to keep Helen's hands on her work. Then there is bed. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you. That God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." The End.
Great finale! A life well lived, immortalized by her great work. The story of her life is so beautiful!❤️
I always get a smile on my face and a warm feeling in my heart when I see Helen Keller. Then my worries suddenly become very small. These historical images of Hellen are the life expectancy for all deaf and blind people. The normality of her life despite her problems are a symptom of strength and happiness that she transmits to everyone despite everything. I saw her her communication gestures her touch her ... she played checkers, listened to music and helped in the kitchen to peel pecans.
Her strength and desire for life is the stimulus to help many people.

Hello my friend. Thank you for this delightful footage of Helen Keller about her daily life which is so full and productive. I love watching her bright face so full of light and love. Amazing device for communicating with the deaf-blind. Helen's calendar is always full of fascinating activities and interesting people to meet. I am so sorry that I have not been around and sad to read that this is the finale. This is probably one of the best and most inspiring channels that I have had the privilege of visiting and enjoying. I love the last line that "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all."

I love that you show us these videos. Helen was (is) amazing lady. So smart, brave and have a good ability to adapt. I wonder if we still have the device that shows on the beginning? Maybe the modernized version? I never seen that kind of device before and I think it's really smart. Anyway, the ending is beautiful. I think Helen can tell if the light off? (Can she see the light?).
