UNDERRUN HEELS on a HORSE'S HOOF? (Do you know what that is? 🤔)

  • Most owners and professionals we speak to are not sure what an underrun heel really is!
They confuse an underrun heel with a low heel, and try to correct that by allowing the heel to grow longer.
And that’s a BIG problem for the horse.
In this lesson Lindsay Setchell discusses underrun heels, long toes, the incredible papillae (that no-one ever talks about) and why chopping off the toe interrupts vital feedback pathways and the physics of biology.
Biology is important - really important.

Another great one, thanks! Do you have a video or blog about more detail on the sole? Finding the hard sole plane, the transition between dead and live sole, when to take and when to leave, calluses, false soles, bruises, etc? I'm having a hard time finding info about this in general.

In a foot where the sole is eneven in the heels, do you still trim to the HSP in both heels? It would create an unnevenness, wouldn't it?
