      The point of Lizz Truss was to obey her masters and empty the coffers as much as poss, so the incoming Labour Government will have less to spend on public services, as they knew they were already doomed electorally (you don't seriously think she was able to think it through, do you, lol)...Simples...>>>what she IS...

    Good watching. As a Yank, it was nice to have a break from the acrimony and doublethink of our politicians and pundits and listen to clever and cogent debate about power and elections in a country where the public good is front and center. I cannot tell whether or not I am being sarcastic.

    It's like when you have one of those arguments on the internet where someone says black is white and spends the next three weeks trying to prove it even though they realised ten seconds after they wrote it that what they said was dumb. I did think she was now in the pockets of big business, but they don't seem to like her much themselves. Instead, her new set seems to be the post-truth disruptors trying to convince everyone - for reasons best known to themselves - that nothing is real, and Truss is the perfect recruit given she's the one true believer in the cause.

    Why, despite all wearing mics, does it sound as if they're all in an echo chamber?

    • @CountScarlioni
      @CountScarlioni Před 29 dny

      The cause is probably one of two reasons:
      The mics are plugged into the building's sound system whilst the camera is relying on its own mics. So we're just hearing it how the audience in the room is hearing it.
      Maybe they shoved a mic in front of a speaker grill to get a clearer pick-up but that's about it.
      Or, they have got a feed from the sound system going into the camera, but the camera is also recording via its onboard mic and the editor has forgotten (or doesn't know how) to scrub the onboard mic audio. The result is a mix down with a washed out echoey mess like this.

    29:00 “Who could have foreseen that the Israeli government would hamper the supply of aid…”
    I’m afraid pretty much everyone with a🎉 cursory knowledge knowledge of the region foresaw something along those lines, Peter. Both the long running trampling of Palestinian rights and territory and the character and observable behaviour of Netanyahu spoke to a likelihood that the Israeli government would punish Palestinian citizens for the horrific and barbaric Hamas terrorist attack on Israelis on October 7th.
    That’s why Starmer’s line in that LBC interview caused so much upset. It’s also why “doing what is right” really isn’t such a simple question. Was it right to adjust and align Labour’s position with the UK and US governments or would it have been right to take a more supportive position of the rights of Palestinian citizens from the outset.

      A few corrections for your 6 line, no punctuation comment. It was neither labour or Tories who said that Gazza cost them votes. It was journalists asking members of both parties, parties responded saying it was a factor among many others. Both parties tried to point to more factors in interviews with channel 4, BBC, etc however everyone seem to ignore that bit. Not a Brit, so have no skin in the game.

    Is Times Radio working for Labour? Of course. There are so many questions which any journalist doing minimum due diligence would be asking Labour and Sir Keir. Times Radio is determined to get Labour elected at all costs, so they won’t ask any of them.
    The worst thing is, if they raised their game to the bare journalistic minimum, their work might lead to a better Labour government. A Labour front bench which has had to face these legitimate questions would actually be a better Labour front bench.
