- Been having some fun flying some helicopters in DCS, I have actually flown all of them recently but had the most success in the Hind. It still is my favourite and the one I've sunk the most hours in.

I want to get into helicopters, but which one do I start off with? Hind or Ka50?
Both are very capable but the hind is older. I like the ka50 more but you can trial both are watch videos on them both to see what there like
But one thing about the ka50 being newer is it outranges, outguns, and has semi com probable speed to the hind. (On top of not dealing with petrobitch)
I'd say do what you're more interested in. At the end of the day you will put more effort in for the module that you want to learn. But what I did was play the hind for a bit then bought the Huey. The Huey taught me a lot about helicopter flying as it has no auto pilots so everything that the heli does you need to counter.
KA50 is kind of like a sniper that can engage from greater distances while the hind charges straight at the enemy unloading its payload in the process. Both can be a ton of fun. KA50 also has a pretty advanced autopilot that makes flying it very easy, but if you want to actually learn the fundamentals of flying helicopters it might not be the best choice.
