It's hard to know what to focus on when reviewing such a mid-range keyboard as the Yamaha PSR-E423. Oh well, this now completes my reviews of all keyboards in the PSR-E series.
Recently bought one of these used because I’ve been wanting to learn keyboard for a while. I’ve been playing guitar since I was a kid so I know music, but I had no idea how to work this thing. Your videos are the only ones I found that helped at all. Thanks!
Yeah I want to get one of these again so I can take a closer look. I've been reliably told that many of the standard sounds are superior to the later models in the series...
Hi nice review. At a time I had the PSR E433, I don’t recall whether you reviewed it, I will check on your channel. I especially like the track you recorded at the end of,the video. Did you use only sounds and rhythms from the E423? Did you record with the onboard MIDI recorder or with a DAW? Cheers.
Yep, you can go into the function menu and arrow to the right until you see MAIN OCTAVE appear, then use + and - to adjust it. I think there's a TRANSPOSE button on the front panel too which will allow you to go up or down in tonal steps rather than whole octaves :) #gearfacts
Old video i know, but, just picked up this exact same model new in the box for 20 dollars at auction. Have no idea what to do with this thing. Is there any demand for this particular keyboard in 2023? Great vid!
Wouldn't be accurate to say it's a stripped-down version of the 453 etc (IMO), as I think they're just its successors. In the PSR-E series I believe they make 2xx, 3xx and 4xx, with 4xx being meant to be the most functional etc.
Technically yes, that's true. It came before the 453. The 4XX is indeed the most functional, with the dynamic controls being the notable difference from the 2XX and 3XX collections :) #gearfacts
@@gearfacts BTW, I just dusted off my E423 to take another shot at it - it's a really rewarding instrument and for the low price point it really provides quality that's actually acceptable. Probably some of the best value for money out there. I've got one issue though - there's a dead key. Any advice what I could try to do about it? It's only a single key, and I've managed to get it to produce a short sound a few times, but for the most part the instrument doesn't register it. It's the 2nd lowest E note. Kind of a bummer there ;c
@@gearfacts Thank you for your reply. A few questions. 1. I see on the casio ctx 700 you can connect your android phone and cancel lyrics and have backing track playing whilst playing. Is that any good? 2. Can either of these keyboards be connected to external stereo speakers or am amplifier or both to improve sound quality? 3. Is £100 a good price for the casio ctx 700? Thank you.
@@philemonbarasa It's all about the 'rec' and 'start' buttons. I'll be doing more PSR-E keyboard videos in the future, I'll be sure to focus on recording tracks
@@gearfacts Hey thanks for the reply! I'm really happy to get this keyboard for $90 here in Thailand. Haven't played since I was very very young. Looks like a fun keyboard to mess around with.
@@gearfacts Turns out that the keyboard is faulty - the screen doesn't light up and the only function that works is the voice select dial, the waveform knobs and volume knob.. I've sent it off to Yamaha in Bangkok to see if they can fix it. As it was, it worked fine as a standalone electric piano but I want to play with all the other functions!
You create the song then use the function menu to upload it to the USB drive. Also the manual is available, just Google "PSR-E423 PDF" and it will appear.
I bought my 423 about 7 years ago. This keyboard is worth every penny, a great piece of kit.
ew 423 is a model 1 year,heheh

This one was a birthday 🎁 gift my dad got me on my 18th birthday 🎂 I eventually sold it and got a korg m50. Now I miss my old psr e423
Hello,... great demo of you. I've had the PSR-e423 for over 6 years now. It's one of my favorites. Completely underrated.
Say hi to

Same here. The only thing that bugs me is that it doesn't have 88 keys 😂
Didn't think about that back when I wanted to have one as a little kid 😂
i have 410 great

I think that may have been one of the demo tracks
Loved the analysis. Could you help me?
If I'm between this one and a Psr S550, wich one is better? (I consider myself an intermediate player).
Thanks!
The PSR-S550 definitely has superior sounds, and a much nicer display :) #gearfacts
@@gearfacts Thanks for the aswer!
Would you recommend this one or the Yamaha psr e353?
I would personally prefer the PSR-E423 simply because it is more versatile and just more fun to use :) Gearfacts
I just bought this keyboard, like new, with the stand, music holder, and cords for $125. Do you think it’s still worth using in 2022 for a beginner?
Definitely. I think you got a really good deal :)
how can i set my own beat on this keyboards?
Do you know if there’s anyway to lower/higher the octave on the default sound?

Gearfacts - thanks for the help, appreciate it.
Hello, is there any way i can loop songs on this piano?
Not as far as I know

Which is much better sound Yamaha e423 or Casio ctk 6000?,base on your experience and idea sir?
The CTK6000 has a better selection of effects but the 423 is better in every other way, I think. It's also much simpler and more fun to use :)
My music database stopped working.. Can anyone help?
Factory reset is always the best thing to try :) #gearfacts
Unfortunately no USB drive option 😩
True.
Hi. Which is the better keyboard, the casio ctk 700 or the yamaha psr 423 please? Thank you

Can i connect it to pc?
Yes, it has USB
Hello good time . Is it possible to connect this keyboard to an iPad?
Yes, I think there is a section about that in the manual.
Hi. How can I record my own beats/style in this keyboard?
You can't create styles of your own, if you want to create a beat you have to record it like a song.
@@gearfacts can you please help me with a tutorial on how I can do it?

Through AUX IN is the only way, you will probably need an adapter
Found one second hand for $90 but the lowest key (C) doesn't work. Good deal?
Yep, good deal. And if you want to, that key is probably an easy fix.
