  • I really like the PSR-E423. If you don't need huge polyphony, you don't need sampling and you can live without the full gamut of effects, there's really no need to go any higher.

    Got one as a gift, and I have had it for 7 years and always love going back to it. Even hooked it to my PC and had old windows games playing music through it. Super to hear

    Hello my friend,... I'm not giving up this keyboard anymore. It was my entry into the world of electronic sounds with the GEM Promega 3 for used 100,--Euro more than 6 years ago. Your demonstration confirms that this keyboard was underestimated. That was probably also because one had to deal with the menus to use this instrument completely.
    Anyway, thanks for reviving the old "sweethearts"!
    best regards.

      Cool man, I'm glad you liked the video. I agree, this is a great keyboard that covers all the standard sounds, and the beats are very catchy and "human" as well. The filters are great, they sound better than most synths I've used. Definitely my second favorite after the PSR-E463, and certainly better value to buy.

    I got this keyboard back in 2010 as a birthday gift 🎁 I then eventually traded it for a korg m50. Now I miss this one and want to find a used one. I enjoyed the video 😎

      @gearfacts  Před 4 lety +2

      Thanks Kevin. Yeah this is an irony that I come across a lot in my reviews. The complex synths like the M50 have huge power and better sounds, no doubt about it... But good home keyboards like the PSR-E423, well, they're just simply more fun to use. Personally I'll take enjoyment over technical superiority any day :)

    I've had a number of Yamaha keyboards over the years and have always loved their quality sounds. I don't recall the model of my first keyboard, but the basic instruments i.e. pianos, strings, brass, drums, etc. all sounded fantastic
    I currently rock the PSR-E423, the very similar YPT-400, and an old ps-2.
    I'd also like to point out that this keyboard is a perfectly cromulent midi controller for tabletop synths, etc.

    Just picked up a prs-e423 new in the box at auction for 20 dollars. I know absolutely nothing about this type of technology. Is this keyboard still a viable piece of equipment in 2023 or is it antiquated by now? and does this model have much of a resale value? I will likely just go ahead and put it up for sale because i really have no need for it. However, i really don't know if it's only worth the 20 bucks i paid for it or a couple hundred. Really great vid!

    Hi Glynn cool vid
    I enjoyed very much this review of the ‘good ole’ E423. I like this keyboard very much but to me the pinnacle of the E series remains the E433 with its great keybed (the best of the whole lineup with, maybe, the exception of the E343), its five buttons to activate/deactivate rhythm tracks and its ability to accommodate ten external rhythms. Ah yes, and the possibility to read MIDI files directly from an USB stick is certainly a plus. And, last but not least, the infamous DJ patterns, aka ‘groove creator’ on the younger brother E463.
    Speaking of the E463, apart from the sampling feature and the effects, one of its interesting features is the additional high-quality voices such as the Sweet! Classical flute and the Sweet! harmonica.
    If I may ask, is your collection of nightcaps a metaphor of the PSR E lineup: all similar but always different...? 😂🤣😂 (post-quarantine humour I’m afraid...).

      Well I guess the only thing I'd add is that when you get to the PSRE463 you get sampling, which is a HUGE advance. The PSRE403 to 453 all function in much the same way, just each progressive model gives more sounds and beats.
