VERY TRUE!!!! My dad was a BN conductor....3 days before the merger he found out he had a brain tumor.....its weird, but everytime I see a BN SD40-2 here or in Brasil or a C30-7 in Brasil from the BN I think of him.....he loved the BN....

Love BN....one of my absolute favorites. For me personally there is something extra special about seeing that cascade green.....particularly with a nice blanket of snow.

I am modelling the BN (HO scale) in the pacific northwest with the timeframe set in 1977-1984. This way I can have pre-merger paint schemes, f units, geeps and second generation diesels all on one layout. AND ALCOs. I also have one SD60 (EMD3) demonstrator. I live in New Zealand. This is a great source for ideas and track side structures to include. Thank you for the upload

Hard to believe it has been “fallen” longer than it was a railroad. That just doesn’t seem possible. I am CONVINCED prior to 1995 that what is a minute today was five minutes then.

Well done tribute on this fallen flag👌 I forgot they had some ALCO Century behemoths, which are my favorite.
I was mostly an SP and SF fan, but earlier this year, a friend loaned me the Charles Smiley DVD "Empire of the North" and I soon became a Cascade Green and Black fanatic. Still learning their once prominent history, but interesting nonetheless. Long live the Burlington Northern!!

Burlington Northern was always one of my favorite railroads, other favorite railroads include the Santa Fe, the Rio Grande, Erie Lackawanna, Lehigh Valley where 7 members of my family worked for, Alaska, Delaware & Hudson. Before the 1970 merger of the C,B&Q-Burlington, Great Northern, Northern Pacific, Spokane,Portland & Seattle,Colorado & Southern, Denver & Fort Worth all became the Burlington Northern, the Great Northern was always a favorite railroad of mine, ecause of their logo of the goat on top of a mountain peak, the train called the Empire Builder with its great dome cars on it and the late James J. Hill who built the Great Northern without federal land grants and worked side by side with the track crews is helping out in building and/or shoveling snow to keep the track clear.
