I love the comments about the 3 planes of the forehead. This kind of basic construction advice is priceless.
Thank you Alec for taking the time to create these videos! Love carving along with you! 🥰
This comments coming in advance, you are presently working on the nostrils, and I love it, and I know the eyes are coming. the last man I saw you carve had AMAZING eyes, they were set like the were glancing to the left... GREAT work on that!!!!
@@tomboese367 thank you!!
thanks for the tip on knife repair. I am just finishing a knife i'm making out of an old circular saw blade, it has the same shape as the knife you are using in this video.
I really enjoy your videos. I haven't carved wood in forty years. I'm getting started on a large carving of a wooden female ship head.
@@lonnieabrams2040 sounds like a great project
Thanks Alec! Great video! I like how you explained about when the tip of your knife broke and not to worry and how you were able to fix it. You sure showed that you can do a lot with just using a knife. I’m sure that some parts would have been easier using a gouge and I commend you for not taking the easy route. I also like how you formed the realistic looking eyes and I will try that in the future.
Great video, Alec - this is the weekends project sorted! Thanks! Also those BSB knives are super sharp and carve nicely!
Loving the neistat inspired intros lately. You and Doug talked about it in the last podcast and really cool to see you working on the craft of video making !
Definitely hitting your stride young man! Well done! Thank you for your time!
Thanks for this. I've been. struggling with eyes lately and needed a refresher. 👍🏻
Another great tutorial, carve along. Thank you, Alec.
Thank You for sharing your talent with us I am really struggling with carving, could you insert a picture of the finished project in your videos in one of the top corners
Thank You
Mark
Thanks Mark! Will consider that!
Thanks Alec. I really admire your knife skills. Sometimes I cringe because it looks like you're gonna draw blood but you come out clean. I wish I could get my knives as sharp as you do. Keep up the great work.
Watch his knife sharpening video. No kidding. I used 220 grit sand paper and stropped just like he showed. My once pretty sharp knife is now very sharp and bites into wood very well. So much more control.
@@maddash9070Thanks,I'll try that.
Amazing work. Love the whittling
Great video & knife skills which I’ve noted & am learning to apply. Thanks
Maravilloso trabajo amigo. Es una experiencia increíble ver como moldeas la madera. Me encanta tallar 🙏. Muchas gracias por compartir tu trabajo. Saludos desde Chile 🇨🇱
Best craving video ever! Thank you so much!

Thank you!
Excellent! Thanks!
Great video!
Great video. I am asking you to make another video for beginners, only with one knife about a girl's face. You have one about Christa and I would like at least one more about a girl's face. Please 🙏🙏🙏
thank you for sharing
Very nice 👍👍👍
Your a good carver , you bleed , set example for beginners safety first
Love your vids I'm a new subscriber and getting into wood carving question 4 u I find that when I carve with basswood I get a lot of long splints is this normal
Some pieces might be more splintery than others!
And thank you!
Any suggestions on a compound that doesn't fly all over the shop when applying it to a stropping wheel? I use zam now
I wish I did!! Mirror polish is pretty good!

I was a sailor for 20 years... That hat belongs to a sailing ship Captain... You may want to borrow my saying "Carving Right Brain, Talking Left Brain, choose one. We are not going to send in the Navy Seals this time.
Yes, good advice! Lol!
