Mark, David and Guy, are arguably the 3 best voices, in gospel music. Combine that with being accompanied by a blind man on the piano and you have God speaking, almost in person.

For the last, well, I can't tell you how many years, I have attended the Gaither Family Fest in Gatlinburg, TN. It's 3 days of concerts and family fellowship, with a morning session and an evening concert. If you ever want to experience God's love, multiplied many times over, you should check it out. God bless you and your family and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas. Just never forget that presents are the least important part of Christmas.

Mark is usually the comic goofball of the Gaither Vocal Band, but here he shows that he can be serious if he wants to be. This is incredible stuff for a song that he passionately wrote.

I never tire of hearing this song, especially when Mark sings it. I guess it is because he wrote the lyrics and he puts his heart and soul into it when he sings.
Actually Mark only wrote the lyrics in 1984, Buddy Green wrote the music score in 1991. It was certainly a collaborative effort. They both have done an amazing job. My all time favorite Christmas song.

The music is irrelevant when it comes to the message and heart of a song. That all comes from the author of the lyrics.
While the author of a song is not the only person that can put passion into the performance of a song, Whitney Houston's rendition of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" is perhaps the best example of this; when the author performs a song; it is most often from the perspective of what he or she was thinking and feeling when the song was being penned.

When I really really listened to this song, it impacted me greatly. I have been a Christian for many years and I ask myself, Mary what DID you know beforehand. The Bible tells us that an Angel was sent to you and told you a few things. To raise such a child as Jesus. To see His ministry. His miracles and then Jesus brutal death. Mary, you were NOT an everyday woman!
God tells us what we need to know and in love sometimes more as in prophesy. Whatever He entrusted to her person was well taken care of, "Mary treasured all this in her heart ..." We need to recognize Scripture as valuable and treasure it listen to it and highly treasure it - obey It and now obey the Holy Spirit.

I must have been under a rock until this past Christmas one of my all time favorite Christmas songs is O Holy Night beautiful song. Then I came across Mark Lowry Mary Did You Know Mark’s voice is truly GOD given it is the most Beautiful song I have ever heard in honor of the Blessed Mother and her son Jesus Christ or Lord. I listen to this song almost every morning at least two times. Such an emotional song that describes the life of a Mother who was granted the ultimate honor of bringing our savior into this world watching him do so many wonderful things and then having to endure watching her son dying for all of us even those who don’t believe. Very touching beautiful words put into a song sung by a Man who’s voice is second to none. Thank you Mr. Lowry.

I listen to this song almost daily. It is such a wonderful reminder of the love God has for us...that he gave his ONLY begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. I feel so humbled that a man that I've never met, who already knew me, gave his life so that I may live. I feel His arms around me throughout this song, and with His help, guidance, love and grace, one day I will physically feel his arms around me. I heard your song, "Mary, did you know"" for the first time this weekend by a new group (to me), the Pentatonics and was deeply affected by it, so I had to find out who wrote this moving and sensitive piece that moves whoever listens to it to tears, Christians and atheists alike. Did you know how responsive people were to this song, calling it beautiful, like an angelic choir, etc. You must have been inspired and blessed to write it, as were the many who heard this moving song.
I'm not gonna talk about how blessed they voices are, how beautiful that song is, how much passion Mark puts at singing the song. Everything and something else said about the performance and arts may be truth... But when in the song is said that Jesus had a baby face once, and then I see my little one-year-old son smiling at me, I wonder why Jesus loves us that much...
