You guys probably have never heard of Stacy Lattisaw, she had her first hit at only around 13 or 14 in the early 80s, went on to have many R&B hits in the 80’s , but left the music business in the early 90’s to become a wife and have a family, and to become an evangelist. She and Johnny had a relationship in their teens , with both artists having hits before he joined New Edition. And yes they did release an album together in their teens.

This was my kinda Jam back in the day always on repeat. Along with Bobby Brown's My Perogative, Roni, Don't Be Cruel, Rock Wit-Cha etc. It was Johnny's biggest hit, released 1989 and Won a Grammy for Best R&B Song.

Not so much on VFT502 but I know what you speak of bc I’ve seen it myself. My take on why it happens is that subs/viewers get territorial with the reactors, expecting them to stick to one genre. Most do. However, from time to time, to change things up, they veer away from their format. And this upsets _some_ ppl. And when it’s R&B that’s NOT crossover like, say, Al Green or Marvin Gaye or Aretha, there’s a contingent (it could be 1 person with 843 usernames, btw) that frequently post negative comments incl ones with either overt or covert racist references. Glad you called them out (I think they or a moderator deleted their post). ✌🏽
